the best movie and sole epitome of my childhood! why is this movie so underrated? only someone with no heart would dislike this film. It was the only movie that gave me comfort as a child....before the world became dark. if only movies like this could be made today....but i doubt it, considering the current world we live in...
Heh heh. Now I remember why I've always loved Cera. She was a fighter even before she completely hatched! X) And Little Foot's reaction was rather...new. Animals ought to take as their parents the first living thing they see or something but he was afraid. But then again the moment he was no more, was very cute. This cartoon is just amazing. None of the sequels come even close. The rest are educative enough but somehow this has the perfect atmosphere and more genuine heart to it all.
The Disney film Dinosaur, which is also excellent, has a remarkably similar plot - Dinosaurs rule to start with, then some disaster affects them and they must move off to find greener lands (The Great Valley in this film, and the Nesting Grounds in the Disney DINOSAUR film) Even moreso, both films show large carnivorous Dinosaurs following the herbivores. Also, they are both heavily reinforced by morals, in this film, 'see with your heart', and in the other, leaving nobody behind, against nature
Then be happy you don't life in a country that dosn't speak english, we don't have any other choice then subtitles, and some times they can be pretty badly translated from the actual dialouge.
I used to love this movie, sometimes I look back on my childhood and I just start crying over how good it was, hopefully my vertigo descends so I can live long enough to have kids of my own, but I honestly do not see that heppening.
When littlefoot's mother reaches up for the tree star, it looks transparent; but as the "camera angle" changes to show the top part at 8:44, it looks more solid. :/
Finally, I've always wondered what happened to little foot's parents. I've seen some of the sequels to this movie first. I guess "dad" died before he was born.

I know what you mean, but i used to watch this movie every single day as a kid (the old tape finally wore out one day and broke )':
But the leaf always did that. i think it was just something coo, the animaters liked.
Anyway, a short time after I saw this movies, and a few of the sequels, I got an idea for a story. I'm almost done with it. If you'd like to read it, put up you email address, and I'll send you an attachment. :)
My George Lucas? oh, I did not know that. My mother told me he worked on some animated film I had watched, but I couldn't believe it was this one. Splendid :D
this movie mesmorizes me, just the fact that its always sorta dark and light on the horizon and the fact that i watched it when i was about 4, brings back memories.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure a lot of people are suckers for depressing scenes, especially since I can tell why Jame's Cameron's Titanic film became such a huge blockbuster.
Haha, I remember when I was little I used to eat my spaghetti like the tall dinosaurs with the noodles hanging out on both sides of my mouth, smacking. xD A was a tall kid, so I could relate.

I asked my dad and he said " you still care about that old thing, aren't you a little old to like that stuff, I sold it last summer." I was in a state of shock and misery for the rest of that stay, and it was my last...

1988?! Whoa! I remember this from when I was a kid but I'd never have thought it was released in 1988! I thought maybe mid 90s, but that's prob just when we got it. Brings back memories anyway. Watched this with my brother when we were about 4 or 5 years old. I'm so happy I had the chance to see masterpieces like this in my childhood. The opening is so powerful and beautiful, and so is the music!

I don't think you really needed to add subtitles. Most everybody on here can understand English.
And I think there's a flaw starting at 8:32.

I fell in love with this movie the moment I saw it in Year 1...

"Then it happened, that the leaves began to die.
The mighty beasts who appeared to rule the earth were ruled in truth....by the leaf."
This level of poetry....you'll never find it in kids' movies anymore.

I used to adore this movie as a kid. I could watch it over and over again. It was my favorite. My friends and I were talking about shows we used to like when we were little and this was a common favorite. Good times..

Watched this with my brother when we were about 4 or 5 years old. I'm so happy I had the chance to see masterpieces like this in my childhood. The opening is so powerful and beautiful, and so is the music!
