Jeff Goldblum was the first man I ever got wet over. The sight of him naked in that telepod in the publicity stills made me break into a cold sweat and i literally weakened in the knees. I was fifteen at the time and 25 years later he still makes me weak.
@theforestero unfortunately you are VERY sadly mistaken, even if you said best sci-fi movies of the 80's. Dont get me wrong this is one of my favourite horrors of all time but Terminator 1+2, Alien, Aliens, The Thing, Scarface all trump The Fly im afraid
That would be a pretty goofy sight don't you think, Jeff Goldblum in all that makeup with a pair of oversized fly wings, flying around all over the city. Jokes aside, maybe they just couldn't come up with a believeable fusion between fly wings and human flesh.
I saw pictures from this film when I was a kid, and thought "Okay, I don't want to see this!" For years, I tried to avoid this, but only last year, I decided "You know what, I'm old enough, I think I can take it." So I watched it, and loved it. Yes, it was disturbing, but not on the same level as Hard Candy (although the scene where Geena Davis gives birth to a maggot is definitely shocking)
This is one of David Cronenberg's finest horror films. Very well directed and well done remake! To bad we don't see good special FX like this anyomore!
A film that was difficult to watch through without cringing. The 80s was my year since I was born in that decade.

Shouldn't he have called himself Brundlewalk? He never developed wings.

i think modern don't use those realistic slimy 80's make-up anymore because its like too gooey, costs money and hard to wash off and embarrassing
so the brundlefly is the fly that he turns into?
horneddragon 1 year ago
@horneddragon Yeah, but if it gives the audience a good scare it really pays off.

yeah, sadly most of the cgi looks just poor. especially at the horror genre with it's limited financial power.
