I have to say - and I mean no disrespect George - but that other chap who did Al Green was outstanding. He ranked well up there as one of the best.
The biggest injustice was when Frankie Valli lost out to Freddie Mercury one year.
The Frankie Valli impersonator, who did 'Cherry', was just about THE best that's ever been on the show.
Of course, people voted Mercury because he looked more like Freddie Mercury and because Queen were a lot more mainstream and well known than The Four Seasons.
The first time I heard Let's Stay Together was when I watched you perform it on Stars in their Eyes when I was a child! For some reason, I have always remembered this perfomance!
Thank you so much for introducing me to this song all those years ago!
Just to put the record straight, I believe you are referring to the last individual who appeared on Stars as Al Green with Kat Deely hosting. I believe he won his show singing Let's Stay Together and secured a place in the Grand final just as I did back in 1998 with Matthew Kelly hosting. However, unlike me he didn't get to perform live in the Grand final because of the alleged behaviour you mention. I hope this clears up any misunderstanding of the facts. Thank you. Kind regards, George
Billy Tookey was star guest number one in this episode and became Tom Jones and sang Kiss and, hence him having sticky hair, it's good he didn't win this episode since, when he became Tom Jones, he only wore a WIG, OVER his sticky hair.
Imagine Tom Jones won this episode and then he'd have sticky hair in the 1998 FINAL and all the other eleven entrants could even SMELL his hair from under the wig he wore.
This is the episode featuring Billy Tookey who has sticky hair. Someone hit him on the head with a glass bottle of Tropical flavour Lucozade which wet his hair in the process, (don't worry, his head didn't get cut) then tapped him on the head with an egg and pulled it apart, releasing yolk all over his hair then exposed his hair to the sun (his hair didn't change colour, it just went dry, hard and sticky and didn't smell nice)
On Saturday the 9th of May 1998, apart from the winner who was Craig Runaford as Denny Doherty and sang Monday Monday, who were all the other four entrants and what songs did they sing?
On Saturday the 25th of April 1998, what song did Beverly Tildersley as Judy Garland sing and, apart from Ross Coward as Dr. Robert who sang Digging Your Scene and the winner who was Mark Roberts as David Gates and sang Make It With You, who were the last two entrants of that episode and what songs did they sing?
On Saturday the 21st of March 1998, what song did Sarah Willows as Doris Day sing, what song did Robbie Taylor as Gene Pitney sing, what song did Bernie Larry as Aaron Carter sing and what song did Sandie Shaw sing?
Sandie Shaw's original identity's (on that episode, that is) first name was Samantha but what was her surname?
An awesome experience. Basically if you get chance to do both recorded and live TV entertainment to between 10 & 15 million people coached, choreographed, directed and supported by people who have work with some of the legendary entertainers of the previous 25 years DO IT! Matthew was an absolute gem. Professional, down to earth and great fun.
Was this filmed on a shoe?

He well shud of won it was a fix
jsand12 3 years ago
How do you mean by that?
shermanvermin76 3 years ago
The vote was fixed so he couldnt win
jsand12 3 years ago
He didn't win because he didn't sound as good as George Antony as Al Green.
shermanvermin76 3 years ago
WHAT?
jsand12 3 years ago
You KNOW what I'm saying.
You know that isn't what entrants on Stars in their Eyes get voted for. The voting is for the best SOUND-alike; NOT the best LOOK-alike.
You wouldn't vote for an entrant because they were wearing a raincoat.

A few people said he should of won it he prob wud of won the series and maybe the champion of champions

You Did a great job performing as Al Green. What was it like being on Stars in their Eyes and meeting Matthew Kelly?
