LeBron got #23 because he demanded it. He said Jordan was his role player and he wanted to have his number. But 23 became famous because of MJ and it was respected in NBA because everyone knew what it stood for. LeBron has yet to earn that respect by wining multiple titles and trying to match Jordan's career. He has the talent and time, but we'll see if he has the same unstoppable drive and consistency as Jordan. Time will show.
