  • By the way, the palomino in the background is walking around with a halter and lead rope on and almost tripped itself because it stepped on it. And you are talking about horse show cruelty?

  • @horsesanddolphins : More ignorance shinning through people, notice how this knowitall can't shut her mouth and mind her own business. Those that understand horses and watched my videos know why her comment is so foolish and shows her lack of understanding, yet she wants to give ignorant advice. Trolls, if they only would get a life.

  • I do hunter/jumper shows and gymkhana. Am I evil because I like to compete? I don't do any of that to my horse or my trainer's horse because I hate hurting animals. I do not want to win that badly. The only reason I show is to get experience from watching other riders and listening to what the judges want to see. That's all!

  • You're a fucking idiot.

As an adamant and widely enthusiastic horse rider and owner, I can promise you that non of these ridiculous things are actually preformed. Obviously you have little actual knowledge of the horseriding world, and instead attempts to publically dramatise it for views.

    Ahk. Pathetic.

  • @yyouthofthenationn : LOL what an idiot, look at this knowitalls channel on her poor riding, off balance, tight reins and crap position and she wants to give advice to others since she can't get anyone to watch her crap riding. Troll, you are blocked.

  • So are you saying that just because I run barrels and poles with my mare I'm cruel?I can run my mare in just a halter and clip on reins. When I run I don't kick her or use a whip. She was never trained to run barrels.I don't make her do anything that she doesn't want to.

  • I HATE the really mean riders in eventing they drive me insane for what they do just to win

  • @horserider9802 : spread your ignorance on your own channel, my viewers can see from your comments that you don't know near as much as you think.

  • I hate mean show people now that I know what their like that's veils to the poor horse

  • Seriously didn't know this. Just makes me want to go to that riding stable really bad and learn how to love and care for the great horse, learn how to ride and let the horse trust, and enter eventing competitions because it's really fun. I always wanted to be a jumper some day, but I definitely won't be jumping for money. Just the sheer fun of being with the horse and enjoying some fun activities. Horses love to learn, but they don't want pepper on their bums!

  • I totally agree. My friends horse swishes her tail because their using a harsh bit and all these chains on this poor senior horse! And they used to teach clipping the tail nerves in vet school but they stopped because the got some freaking common sense but people still do it "underground"! Also if you thought marbles were bad I was reading a magazine and it said people used thumb tacks to make their horses step pretty. But I don't know about the whole reining thing but theirs always a possibili

  • I totally agree that people do crazy things to win at shows. But I do show and I would never push my horses over their limit to win. It's about how a horse and rider can move together as one and conquer. And sometimes You don't have a choice rather you win money or not.

  • I don't understand why people feel the need to do these crazy things to win a bloody ribbon. A ribbon is a nice surprise or an added bonus, not something to put your horse through pain for. I show my horse, and she loves jumping, and it's good for building muscle tone and promoting athleticism, but some people do take it way too far and make it all about the competition. My mare and I just go for fun, and as a learning experience.

  • So all I'm saying is don't judge "every book by one books cover". Yes there are some people who will put ginger under the tail, pole a jumping horse, shock a rodeo horse, etc. But the majority would not. It's like saying that all pit pull owners are bad because some host pit bull ring fights. You can't judge every owner who shows, and accuse them of all being the same.

  • I understand that yes, sometimes some of these cruel things happen with certain trainers and owners that only are in showing to win, and they don't care about the horse's feelings, but there are alot of horsemen who would never do any of these things to their horse. I do jumping, and my horses love it. I don't need spurs, a crop, a harsh bit, or any kind of torture device for my horse. He will free jump on his own if he's turned out.. I would never dream of doing any of those mean things to them

  • You really do not know anything about training/showing reining horses. Been breeding & showing reiners for a long time have earners at high levels & they do not use barb wire to teach them to turn. You really need to get your head out of your rear. How do I know this? B/C as a very active owner I watch I keep a close eye on what is going on. I know a lot of top trainers have worked with them. Have watched them train horses from 2's on up. I know what it takes to win & no that is not it.

  • @nrhareiner : Really dumazz, you are that stupid, how about this Ms Breeder and Ms Horse trainer, watch my " FEI World Reining - More Horse Shows Poor Horsemanship- Reining Winner- Rick Gore Horsemanship" video and then tell me how nice and kind this GREAT reining trainer is? You see only what you see and are told, try thinking for yourself and being the show circuit puppet. No shortage if ignorance in the horse world, case in point YOU.

  • tbh this is nuts i showjump and jymcana and its good for there musels and bones so tbh this is disin all showjumpers and jymcana people this is the most pithetic vidio i have ever watched !

  • @lolagegirl1 : Wow what a surprise, a knowitall that jumps and then wants to tell everyone how her horse loves to jump. Idiots , no shortage of them in horses.

  • @lolagegirl1 I can tell you what is pathetic! Your spelling, it's atrocious.

  • If you really want to get mad at show tricks, watch Tennessee Walking Horses. As far as people saying that certain things are now "illegal", that don't mean shit. Those tricks work, therefore people will do whatever they can to "win". Granted, the bigger breed shows are less prone to this, but those shows account for less than 25% of the shows/events in this country.

  • lol.. gotta love buddy walking around with his leadrope dragging...lol.. he doesnt care one bit :P

  • I understand what you are trying to say. But I do gymkhana and I show. I have a $1000 plow horses mare that I use for gymkhana. I have never Layed a spur or a crop on my mare. She is 16.1 and big all the way around but she really enjoys gymkhana. I don't do it to win I do it to have fun. I also love chasing cows and so does my gelding. I do know how cruel people are to there horses when they are trying to win but I just want to tell you that I am not one of them

  • Dude your a true dumb ass lol! They do NOT put marbles under their feet...if they did they would be so bruised and would NOT even be able to walk.......and they do NOT put barbwire around the leg! Why would they do that and chance crippling the horse? Correct training gets a horse to pivot off of that leg.....not barbwire, and they do NOT shock race horses before they race. You have also been watching WAY to many John Wayne movies....I suggest you get out of your little Back Yard shows ....

  • @kelliefan1017 : Hey idiot go troll elsewhere, if you are so smart why are being ignorant on my channel? Get a life and grow up, just because your too stupid to admit or see it, does not mean it is not done.

    You can't fix stupid.

  • @horseawareness Yeah it's really sad and I saw the ginger wrapped on a horses tail overnight when i was at the 2008 american royal, made me so damn mad wanted to just take it off that poor thing. Told his owner off and they said "gingerin's allowed!" so i can't say that it ain't happened cause I know it has.

  • @kelliefan1017 Humm... let me guess you do shows and barrel race?

  • @kelliefan1017 People who own and show Tennessee Walking Horses ruin their horses all the time. If you don't think people do wicked things to horses just so they can win a title, I suggest you search the Tennessee Walking Horse on YouTube to see what cruel techniques they use in order to win, it is unbelievably cruel, so I would not be at all surprised if the practices mention on this post were true.

  • I can honestly say that I have never been around any of that or witnessed any of the things you talked about in this video. But if I ever did, I would say something. Its great that you are standing up for what you believe in but not ALL horse events are horrible. I make a point to go to reputable barrel racing events and my training style is one that works along with my horse not forcefully or against him.

  • most of the things you are talking about are ILLEGAL in the show ring, and therefore not done anymore, especially at most breed shows and national shows. I like that you stand up for what you believe in though for those out there who slip through the cracks. But I don't think ALL show people are bad, not even 50% of them.

  • Btw- your horses are beautiful.

  • I Haven't seen that but that is cruel! At my stables, we don't do that. Wouldn't the people in the ring see the barb wire or no?

  • I show in Alaska. we would NEVER treat a horse like that! work through your problems not cover them up! If i ever say/ heard of someone doing that at any of the shows i would personally beat their ass and save their horse. No horse should EVER be treated like that no matter how much you want to win.

  • No horse trainer should need, more than a snaffle bit, more than their average tack and a brain-with a few exceptions. You shouldn't want to the the boss of your horse, you want to gain a partnership. Winning ribbons by using these methods is nothing to be proud of. Its like looking at the answers before a test, and acing the test after because you knew the answers. There is no self reward in that! You cannot train or ride a horse, if you do it like that! You should be put in jail.

  • i gotta agree with you, Rick. At shows, all you see is stupid people wanting to win a fancy ribbon, and the horse is always the one who pays the price. Went to a show once, and in my whole 18 years of life, ive seen more cruelty at that show then just about anywhere else. Thanks for speaking up for the horse.

  • good for u for sticking up for the horse! of course not everyone that shows do these things to horses but many out there do and its sick! shame on thoes that say these things are ok u know who u are!

  • I didn't know this happened around in horse shows. My horses are not deformed, and I don't ginger their tails, and I don't shock them, or put marbles under their feet. Horse shows should be about showcasing your natural ability with horses, and about how well you and your horse work together. I show in 4-H, and luckily none of the people in my county do that to their horses.

That's just awful. People need to stop doing that, and if they do, they should be disqualified from the show.

  • I just want to say that I come from an Arabian and Saddlebred background and Gingering may seem weird but ive gotten some on my hands and its never burned just feels like that cold muscle rub or vicks. It kind of tingles but doesnt burn.

  • @rodeogirlmagic : Really, nice to know, would you rub some on your butt and between your legs and tell me if it doesn't burn since that area is lot more sensitive than your hand. You miss the point and try to justify this cruel cheat. It is not fair to horse and it is a cheat to win. Justify this as it is NOT that bad is like saying a bit does not hurt a horse that bad so putting metal in a horses mouth and chain on their nose is not that bad so it is OK. Not what I call a convincing argument.

  • at 4:47 the big bay peed

  • @igottapetrock9 that grass.......

  • ive never heard of people cutting nerves but i have heard of people injecting lidocaine or gasoline into the tail base to prevent tail swishing or to make a lame horse appear fine.. the vets doing these nerve cutting procedures should be found and arrested they took an oath to look out for the welfare of the animal .. its sad to know that there are so many 'techniques' to abuse an animal to perform well

  • I do not understand why people who disagree with this horseman put rude comments on here. Its called pressing stop.I have 2 horses who are purely for pleasure.Never showed, never even went to one.Keep my horses on pasture, barefoot and with buddies. The more I am around horses the less I know.Do not stall, even in winter.Barn with good turn out space and open door policy.Love horses for horses.Trying to get through all your videos.Did not realize these cruel things are done routinely ..Resounding Wow

  • This is just sad. I do shows though, hunter shows. I don't do any of that and my horse has no cut nerves and he wins so I still think there are people that are naturally good at riding. If you do cut the horses nerves it's not like if the people sell the horse that they have to tell the next owners that they are cut. There sre some shows that they would be disqualified.

  • Videos like this make me want to go out to the pasture and give my boy a hug. He'll never be in a show--thank goodness--or win a ribbon, but to me, he is the most amazing, beautiful, smart, perfect horse and he is such an awesome gift... I think he even SMELLS sweeter than other horses. :) I read on Mr. Gore's site that if God made anything more beautiful than a horse, He kept it for Himself and I agree 100%.

  • What the hell is wrong with some people?!?! geez why the hell would someone do this crap to a horse? wait i know they are big fat idiots! UHH people are so stupid!

  • PPl THAT R BEING BARN WITCHES BOUT HOW TANNER WAS STEPING ON HIS LEAD ROPE : Rick does that with horses to teach them to learn how to get out of things thereself sacking them out! He does that with mr. T all the time so he's use to that I'm not saying that he can't get hurt I'm just saying Ricks being more responsible than u! By teaching that Gosh -.- idiot ppl

  • I truly agree with you noone cares about the horse just money

  • i totally agree with u show ppl suck i ride with a halter and clip reins with a saddle sometimes and most times bareback because i used to use a snaffle bit and they say they are the most gentle on the horses mouth that's bs they cut into the tong of the horse and if ur hard on the reins they even break the teeth causing the horse to go into convulsions and when i did ride with a snaffle my horse was in so much pain from it she ran away with me to try to get away from the pain. So ride easy

  • You know, there are more than a few people out there who show horses that aren't cruel or whatever. By saying that there are just a FEW, you're assuming that almost everyone does things just for winning. There are a lot of people who use perfectly ethical and humane things to make their horses look good. Not all of these tricks are common or routine.

  • du har rett i det du sier mange er sånn men noen få er ikke sånn

  • @Angelina329 : I used google tanslate on this comment to make sure it was not rude. Decided to post it:

"you are right in what you say many are like that but a few are not like that"

  • @Angelina329 hvis du kan læse det på engelsk og lærer det i skolen, som de fleste skandinaver gør, hvorfor skriver du ikke på engelsk, eller oversætter, det fra norsk til engelsk. på freetranslation com

translated: if you can read this in english and learn it in school, like most scandinavians do, why not type it in english, or translate it, from norwegian to english, on freetranslation com

  • Why do people keep saying stuff about the lead rope if you watched his other videos he has explained why he does that and why its good.at the start of this video he says there is good people out there if you listed to what he was saying instead of bitching about what ever and I can guess that most of the people saying all this stuff about him being stupid and wrong its because its what you do. dont all hate though because i know not everyone is bad but really most people are.

  • OH AND TAKE YOUR DAMN Leadrope off!! your bitchin about us doing something.. well your just waiting for an accident to happen since your letting your horse step on his lead! just wait till he freaks out... ive seen horses get injured doing that.. maybe you should fix your problems first... dont talk about us doin bad things when your doin stupid shit too!

  • @DoubleDAppaloosas : You prove my point you are dumbass whining troll that just knows how to be a barn witch and when you see that you are too stupid to fix YOUR problems you blame others and cause drama. This is not your virtual barn, go fly on your broom somewhere else. Bye, you are blocked idiot.

  • @DoubleDAppaloosas You don't know what he was doing before the video so don't just go throwing out remarks! And if you don't want to take some good advice, then why bother spending time writing a dumb comment?

  • you know your an idiot! first off.. you better refriase this damn thing cuz you apparently dont know what is goin on in the modern industry. yes all those things are illegal.. and the ppl who do it get fined..

the whole REINING THING YOUR FUCKIN STUPID. they DO NOT DO THAT barb wire shit! i would know! its basic training from the ground up... its not cruelty! we dont use barb wire! we teach them to move off their hip. you dont understand shit do you... you just need shit to bitch about...

  • When I started showing Western Pleasure I had an idealized, and grotesquely naive view of what people did to their animals to show and win. I thought it was all hard work, talent and breeding. I was disgusted. I used to love club bass fishing until one day it became a bizarre competition instead of a few friends catching some fish. If you want to compete, compete with yourself on becoming a better horse person and how you become the best partner you can be with your animals..

  • Youre an idiot. You just want a reason to complain don't you? Not everyone who shows is a lying asshole, alright? I go into shows, not to win, but to give my horses more experience and myself. I don't care if I win, why would it matter? Don't let the dumbasses who do compete for pretty ribbons wreck the fun for everybody else... Youre just stupid.

  • @xXGlamRiderXx : some knowital that thinks she has it all figured out. The only thing you got figured out is how to be a mean cruel barn witch and think you are so smart. Stay off my channel, you are blocked.

  • I am sorry but I compete with my horses. I try many sports with my horses to find what they like. My 1 horse Silver continued to refuse fences at shows & I stopped showing him, he now jumps at home. My mare Bell jumps cause she loves it! I can put a jump up in an arena & it takes me to put it away for her to stop. At a horse show she brightens up. I myself never do wat you talk about. Plz be careful about how you publish this... not all people are like this... btw they also weigh down the tail!

  • they also put chains on those dancing horses legs and train them on concrete slabs

  • Why is the horse stepping on the leadrope??

  • I understand that that happens. It breaks my heart. I only show for fun. If I don't win, whatever! :)

  • @horsesluvhat : YOU ARE AN IDIOT! You have no clue why stepping on a rope is a good thing. You showed your ignorance and lack of knowledge with your comments. Get the hell off my channel and keep your dumb advice for other barn witches.

  • I HATE horse racing and almost all other shows. Use a whip on me and see what happens. I wish they would all just disappear. There is nothing like a nice trail ride that you AND the horse can enjoy. I went to the Kentucky Derby once and I could see from the infield how stupid and cruel it was.

  • i agree but some people are very nice to there horse like me :)

  • i agree with you here! although I've never really heard of what is done in Britain (although it most probably is) I think its horrible I loved going show jumping with my pony but I just did it for fun and I knew that she enjoyed it too but if I'd even heard of anyone doing that to their horse I would certainly report the to the SSPCA. Also Your horse looks wonderful and seem to really love you which is of course how it should be.

  • You Rick, are truely awesome!

  • Another trick I heard from someone I knew who does Western Pleasure, is she said at some shows the people will tie their horses head up high for a whole night/day so that when they show, the horse's neck will be sore and lowered in the show ring. From someone else, I heard that a kid will want to show in the pony class and people will trim the hooves (too much) to lower the pony's height just to show in a pony class since some shows are picky about the 14.2 hh. Isn't that awful? :/

  • I ride saddle seat where we learn to ride right and we rescue horses. When I went to big show I saw people form another barn putting ginger under a foals tale for a halter class. We never do that and we r totally against all that crap that other people do. We hate it and we support u.

  • also i was told that they inject racehorses with BLEACH to thin their blood out so oxygen travels faster through their systems. this was told to me by a different lady, who was bragging about it. sigh...

  • @olliethekitty Wow, with Bleach? Bleach would just kill the cells, lining of vessels, and damage the organs. It does exactly the opposite of what that lady claims. If the cells are dead, then they can't carry oxygen to the tissue. That is completely idiotic, selfish, and cruel. I feel sorry that you had to talk to such a idiot, you probably handled it way better than I would've.

  • just thought id add this in here...today a lady was talking to me about this exact topic, i mentioned some of the things id heard in this video, and she told me that another thing people do is the night before a show, riders will tie their fkn horses head high to the top of their stall so the next day, he cant pick up his head because his neck is so sore. they put a curtain up in the stall so that you cant see it, but imagine that? imagine how stiff and sore your neck would be if that happened!

  • cute horses

  • i have always wanted a horse and i will never do shows

  • I ride for fun :) and if I ever do anything wrong like accidentaly bump in the saddle (still learning) and stuff I often whisper a little sorry to the horses, since I'm sure no horse likes that :D but horse awarness is important to me and I wish to learn from those with tight bond to their horses :) I think it's good to that you're braive enough to state your meaning on the internett, it's very admiring :D

  • wow. i never knew this happened. then again, i have only been to 1 horse show. if i go to another, i know what to look for. this is animal abuse, and just plain inhumaine...

  • God Bless You for Speaking The TRUTH!

  • I agree with you %100

  • do you think its crule when you barrel race for fun???

  • i do lots of jumping shows but i just jump like normally without any tricks or stuff

  • i do see a lot of the issues though. i will look out for the problems

  • Rick,

NOT TO ARGUE -- I'm sure these things go on and your video really got my blood pumping. My question is - how often does this go on? Are you implying that the majority of what is considered the top horses in the country are simply stupid and cruel 'trainers tricks'? If so needless to say I'm more than disapointed! I'm continualy in awe wondering "how they get those horses to do THAT" (whatever that is). Surely there are horses out there that are actualy 'trained' and display it happily?

  • @DARKRanch1 : It depends, anything a horse does can be taught with pain and fear or can be taught with understanding and kindness. Most times both are used, I assure you that horse that jump everyday hate it and it hurts, horse that run in mindless circles at race tracks hate it, horse that are shod with special sliding shoes that hurt and cause them to slide are not having fun. Showmanship and making it look good for the judge wins, treating a horse with respect & understanding gets no pts.

  • Wow! Beautiful horses!!

  • I tend to go to very small shows just for fun, and have never done anything like that, but your video definitely gave me something to think about. Next time I go to a show, I will look around and count how many horses I think have ginger up his tail.

You are a great man, thanks for doing these video's!

  • I've heard of some nasty things from shows. I would like to show just to give my horse more experience and winning would be nice but it's not the most important thing. My past trainer once had someone put show sheen on her saddle to make it slippery. My mare only ever swishes her tail when she is telling me she is upset. I know my horse well enough to stop whatever it is that I'm doing wrong to make her happy.

  • I am sad to say there are 2 western pleasure show horses at the barn i board at. They are tied in the stall never have turn out or sociaization with other horses because tthey sre too valuable. They are lonly unged and given steroids to build muscle. The owners use hars bits and wear sharp spurs and the horses are angry and very hyper when lunged, It is horse abuse in my opinion.

  • Good for you Rick for exposing these creeps. My horses work/play strictly through compassionate training. Patience forever and then some more, Chipa Wolfe

  • thats sickening....your horse is so beautiful......and happy!

  • Ohhh haha sorry I posted my comment three times, I didnt realize that it had to be approved before it could be shown. Oops!

  • Wow, I ride in shows and the things you just dicussed are just twisted.. I can't believe people do that.

  • I have heard some horrific things, especially with gaited breeds such as tennessee walkers and saddlebreds. I've even heard of people putting hot wire over the top rail of their jumps so the horses with tuck their legs better and try harder not to clear the fence. But I have never heard the thing about the barbed wire in their boots, that's probably one of the worst I've ever heard. It made me sick, people are so twisted. I dont know how anyone could bring themselves to do that to any animal.

  • I hate what people do to horses to win. I enjoy showing, and am going to get into eventing, but for me its not about winning. I do wish to become a good trainer someday, and I do see going to competitions and shows as a good way to meet new people and get my name out there, but no way would I hurt my horse to win. Its always fun to win a blue ribbon, but only if its fair. I just want to use shows and competitions as a way to gain more experience for my horse and I and for personal goals.

  • wow. i ride in shows. i want to win a ribbon. hell, i wouldn't mind riding for money. but in the end, my horses and their well being comes before any ribbon or any purse in a show. if winning a show means i have to hurt my horse, then fuck it, i don't want to win. for all of us who ride in shows for fun and enjoy our horses, ride on!

  • I do hunter jumper and recently went to my first show. I didn't see any of these atrocities (and hope never to) I would never, ever think of doing any of this to my horse (an OT TB named Nike). And if anyone tried that fire extinguisher trick? My horse would KILL me. He would take off and zoom around until I fell of and was trampled.

I am an avid fan of reining and Paso Finos and am absolutely shocked to find out that is the type of 'training' that goes into some of them.

  • It's not the shows...it's the owner of the horses. I barrel race but i train my own horses and i treat them how they should be. I don't kick or whip the crap out of them and they are fine. It just depends.. there are a lot of people who don't give a crap about their horses.

  • @rebelupsomedust : Somewhat true, but the shows could stop it or penalize for it, or check for it and require better horsemanship and care. They don't, they want their fees and don't protect horses and for that I don't like them.

  • I don't even understand how people came up with these brutal tactics. This was a great video and I hope it gets more views.

I have a video on my channel about the cruelty of bucking horses and I have pictures on it of them getting shocked and hurt, and have a link on it to another video with video proof of them hurting the horses and I still get rodeo people who insult me and refuse to believe the proof.

  • I had no idea about some of this stuff they do! I show and I live it but I would never ever do that to any horse! When I look at ribbons I think of how I worked hard to get them without having to do that, I work hard fir that, not abuse. The horse I ride truely loves to show and jump. I hate when kids at shows yap about how much their pony cost and stuff, but you nailed it

  • FYI every dicipline is going to "ruin" a horse, with an exception to trail riding and ranch work. And judges know the tricks that they do. Also people who show dogs abuse them too. Also cutting the nerve is not as common as drugging the tail. It blocks the nerves. And the dont ginger or pepper a paso I can argue with every thing you just said..i just can.

  • You nailed it!!!!! I just got a horse that is always walking with his tail in the air for that reason. We only go to gymkhanas for social reasons, we'll enter for fun but not to win. I refuse to go to full out horse shows.

  • I agree!!! So sad what ppl will do for fame/money/pride. What training method do you use? I was going to start my guy w/natural horsemanship until I looked into it more. It is very cruel in it's own way. I have decided to use a program called friendship training. It looks wonderful. I am doing very little clicker training right now with him until I begin the Friendship training when I get back from school. Thanks for posting this, and I too hope it sheds light on these horrible things! =)

  • Wow , I heard of the tail blocking and ginger or peppers bit didnt know about the others . In Aus at the bigger shows a horse will get tested if they have excessive tail carriage which is good but also sad that it came to that.

Not sure how they regulate the others ........

Would it not be obvious if a horse could not move their ears or tail . These People should be punished and refused the right to own horses again.

  • Amen Brother...all you said is true and then some...I love my horses I trail ride and some times a little saddle club fun show, and thats what it is only for fun..no money, little ribbons, no fancy cloths.. we just enjoy out horses, mostly on the trails

  • So depressing to hear this stuff....makes me sick people are so mean! I agree with u RICK, and I know u love ur horses!

  • we just bought a horse that walks like she is in show when you ride her hopfully thats not how they "TRAINED" her she does seem scared of being rode and is a little skittish when you do some things i am perrty sure they used a whip on her before

  • I di show jumoing and i saw this little girl put peeper under the tail and 10min. Later after she did that i bought a little carton of milk and bairly soacked tha nampkin andrubbed tha milk where she rubbed the peppers at not onky did iy help when i when to rub tha tail the tail was barley bleeding it was soo sad and i never used a bitted english bridle i use a hackmoore

  • A horse is a man's slave. But if you treat a horse like a slave, then you aren't a man.

  • I agree they use mustard oil on TWH & gasolean & battery acid on there feet to pick them up. I have heard of in saddlebred shows they shoot fire crackers to make them nervous and act spooky in the show ring, also in western pleasure I have heard in some cases they drain the blood of the horse so it will be week and lower its head......now adays its all for the money usually

  • This spring I went to a horse show and there was one barn of saddlebreds and I was appalled-it was a hot, hot day and they had those poor horses in their stalls with full blankets on, their tails are tied up, i dont even know what the name of that barbaric rig is they use and not only were they tied up but they would have a rubber bucket hanging and it wasn't to catch poop (i assume that when they take it off the tail goes straight up). All had these grazing muzzles with buckets hanging off face

  • I absolutely hate Arabian horse shows. I live in the UAE and the cruelty of it surrounds me daily it's disgusting.

the unnatural poses and the way they train them to do that. Arabians used to be well built strong horses of the desert, now they're skinny useless horses that dont even know they have legs!

You are definitely an idol to me Rick!

  • I love all the breeds of course, but seemed to get in with the Arabians. So I'll say that anyone who loves the Arabian should hate the Arabian show world with a burning seething passion that doesn't stop. People should go to those shows just to turn their backs.

  • Not really....I mean alot of people are abusive. But showing is not abusive.

And having only pasture can be bad to.

Also, would you rather them be in the wild? Where they may not get food for three days?

    Or no water?

Having foals in the mud and hail.

    No.

Having a warm stalla nd food each night is better than that.

  • @livelaughride17 a stall is worse its prison you get a place to stay that you cant leave your meals for the day and for about an hour a day yard time with someone watching over you making sure you do what they say.

i am sure they would rather be free to do what they want graze and be able to play and be with other horses

at least with prison they diserve to be there but what is the horse getting punished for

  • I agree with you about horse abuse at shows, I used to love the TWH, but all the abuse they would do to their feet really turned me off. From soring feet to adding all the heavy weight so they can step high, that is not natural, not to me anyway.

As far as tails go, majority of draft horses all they tails cuts, ( Percheron & Belgian ) well the working horses anyway. Some say its good to have the tail cut so they wont get stuck in harness, or they wont slap the horse behind them with their tail

  • @larasa007 : true about getting in harness, but will wrong for horse, you can wrap it, you could tie it down when pulling, you could braid it and wrap when working, but to cut it off is easier and permanent and is taking the easy way since it is easy on the human and not done "for the horse". Horses always have to pay for people's laziness, short cuts and mistakes.

  • id go to horse shows but its not worth it if the horse is treated badly....

  • The sad thing is that the majority of riders who show probably do these awful things. I show jump and I go to shows, but I go to improve my abilities and get my horses confidence up. Yes, my horse has won some ribbons but it isn't winning when you sabatoge your horses performance. Of course it's nice to win, but it's even nicer when you have the relaxing bonding experience.

Great video. I hope people become more aware. What some people can do, makes me truly sick.

  • Excellent video. I love how you tell the truth. I had no idea about any of this. It’s amazing how far and cruel people will go just to win a stupid ribbon.!

  • Oh, and another thing so called 'trainers' used to do is shoot bottle rockets and roman candles at the horses.

  • The gingering I've seen involves putting it actually up in the actual rectum to make them flag the tail. It's sick...

  • amen to that.

  • Ever seen what happens when a tail nerving goes bad? Deadens the hip muscles and they sink in. Saw a national champion that at one time sold for $100,000. When I saw him he was just purchased for $350.00. Since YouTube is a family site I won't share my thoughts any further. Al

  • You're right. The root of the bad behavior is ego. I know people who were in love with their horses as trail riders, but became frustrated with their inability to get their horse to conform to show standards and suddenly they are dissatisfied with their horse and are looking for a new one. I do know some honorable show people, but when I go to see them, I have to walk past the psychos who are shrieking at their fidgety horse, "CALM DOWN! CALM DOWN!" While she's hitting him with a switch.

  • WOW! i never knew that people did this! uggg i completeley AGREE with you!!!! i hate how people get so competitve and they cant just do shows for the fun of it!!! poor horses they should make gingering or peppering the horses tail illeagel!!!!

  • i go to shows but i would NEVER done that to a poor horse!

  • I train horses, but I go to shows for fun and to socialize with fellow horse people, winning isn't important to me.. but some people I have met make me sick too..

  • @SassyMustang1980 yeah its so sad that some idiot would do that to a horse. It really pisses me off
