Anyone offended my "Mr. D and the Woman" has obviously not been on the listening end of a special day. That is what it sounds like to men. Get over yourselves.
@IzzySpeaks Sorry about that. I know how much people love the begging segments -- I get a lot of email about that. But I don't think that the begging should be longer than the actual episode. We're just going to have to agree to disagree.
@misterdeity Yeah, the begging segments are more or less what sold me on this show. I mean, "sold" in a loose, wholly non-monetary sense, given as I'm not donating or subscribing or buying the DVDs, etc., but still, they're quite lovely. = )
Too many people are overly sensitive. I am a Christian and I watch the show and laugh occasionally at the cheeky humor. Every episode makes fun of Christianity. Now compare that with one episode poking fun at the female gender.
@TheGeneralBurn Of course not, asshole! I'm already so incredibly super sensitive. Can't you tell, you prick? Jesus, why can't people take a joke? ;-)
Listen, any time you try and produce satire, comedy, or commentary you are going to offend someone. don't cow to silly pressure, that whole statement was moronic, who wrote that for you - some wench?!
So, I know this is old, but I just found Mr. Deity. In your "nonpology" (ugh, did you have to do that? it happens so often for real, it's kind of not funny), you state that you've played to stereotypes before, but have you ever SHOWN them? Like, if Mr. D and Larry are TALKING shit about some group, that just proves they're dumb, not that the stereotype is true. But to SHOW a woman acting that way makes it seem true (within the show at LEAST), and that supports the jerks who REALLY believe that.
HAHA don't you find it a bit ironic that the female episode was basically parodying high maintenance women that get emotional and angry at the smallest of things and how guys have to be on egg shells because of that and then...
The reaction to said video by women (well some women) is exactly what you parodied, :D
Please, please PLEASE tell me that you didn't really get complaints about "Lucy and the Woman"!! You're just joking, right?? I'm a woman, and although I find everything you do to be very funny, "The Woman" episode was the one that's made me laugh the hardest. I really don't want to believe that people who are fans of what you do on "Mr. Deity", and some of what you've done on "Words" are capable of getting offended at this kind of humor! Say it ain't so!!
@Maargen Sadly, it's so -- like crazy! People wrote me these long diatribes about the stereotypes that have hurt women throughout history. It was unbelievable. And quite a number of unsubs (the money kind, not the YouTube kind) and "I'll never watch again" emails.
@misterdeity shouldn't they be helping humanity instead of sitting at a comp desk and typing about what offends them in an entertainment venue? I mean.... if they want to be as useless as the rest of us, I don't see why they get to carry their head high like heroes...er...heroines...lol
You should've been honest. "A lot of people, including some men who were threatened with never getting any again if they didn't complain, found issue with the episode Mr.Deity and the Woman to be offensive."
For those people who (like me until 10 min ago) don't know who Torquemada is, he was the head of the Spanish inquisition ( now known as the "Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith")
Hey you know that there is this guy, I think he might even be a pastor or something and I hear that he has this show called 'in touch with charles stanley' I bet if you listened to that program for a while you might be able to get out of that really expensive pc poop, and if he really is a minister, I hear that they even do counselling for free. You should seriously look into it; it could end up saving you allot of coin, maybe even your immortal soul... or maybe not.
The apology at the end is a direct reference to Tiger Woods, and his press conference apology for cheating on his wife. This is another joke, a spoof, tailored to the real situation of people being offended by (hilariously) sexist content. I don't care who you believe (I choose Jesus), that's funny.
Please tell me that sensitivity thing was/is a joke. I really, really hope it is. It seemed is was at parts, yet still it seemed like you were forced. That's fucking stupid.
People that wish/want to be offended, Will be offended. Period. All episodes are hilariously will taste and talent. Screw anyone with the opposing opinion. Thank you SO much for making me CRY in laughter ^_^........
Torquemada! HAHAHAHA, fabulous. For those who don't know, he was a significant figure in the Inquisition, and judging by his acts, an absolute monster.
This is a great show. I'm a believer and I really like how this show pokes fun without being insensitive. We should be able to laugh at ourselves! Very well done!
@awesomewelles90 Why can't the believing world be filled with people like you? You would never fly planes into buildings, right? Why can't others just laugh it off?
@misterdeity Most of us are like me. But in my opinion it doesn't matter what group you are a part of (religious, ideological etc) there will pretty much always be a minority that is violent and they will try to justify it with scripture or with ideology etc. That's what humans are like.
@awesomewelles90 I agree completely. That's why it's imperative that people stop thinking they know the will of a being whose existence isn't even certain, and who has recommended violence against other so often. The less justification people have, the better. Don't you agree?
@misterdeity I disagree actually. Humans don't need a piece of paper to justify violence with. They will find a way regardless. It's in our nature. In other words, minimizing the number of books which people will use to justify violence with won't decrease the amount of violence in the world. Other things (such as education, change of social and political circumstances) will. To attack "scripture" etc is to not recognise the problem.
@misterdeity I quote that really expresses the truth of the matter:
"With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion."
As a regular mr.deity subscriber, I need to ask you a small favor. This skit reminds me of a problem that I have been having. At work, I often receive phone calls for the Washington National Cathedral, even though the phone number there is entirely different from my own. Would you please provide me your cell phone number so that I can forward all their calls to you? I have important work to do, and need someone else to take these calls.
Have you ever thought of doing a telethon for the show. You know a parody of all those obnoxious religious telethons while also being a device to raise money for the show? Just thought it sounded like a funny idea in my head.
@aqren550 It was a joke. Not the part about people getting upset and canceling their subscriptions. That really happened. This was dubbed by some here a nonpology, and that's what I intended -- my way of saying, "lighten up."
pat robertson is just an evil, conceited person. though just to say that was jerry falwell that said that the reason that 9/11 happened was because of the pagans, gay, feminist, and the people that are trying to secularize america. obviously we are not secular enough when a school cancels a prom rather then let a lesbian take her date to the dance.
I loved the apology at the end. I'm a woman, and I thought that the "Mr. Deity And The Woman" episode was really funny. Some people just don't have enough self-confidence to laugh at themselves.
Damn that was funny. I loved the woman episode too! I wonder if you're joking about losing subscribers because of it. Sounds like some overly sensitive peeps can't take a joke. Seinfeld had Plenty of jokes at women's expense. What. Ever. However, your apology rocked. Hope you got my twenty bucks. :)
Wait why were ppl offended by the deity and the woman? as far as 'offensive' goes id say thats one of the least offensive, did I watch the right one? lol
Did people actually complain about that episode? I thought it was a scream. Before watching it I had this naive and disconcerting expectation of comprehension, till your show put a smile on my face.
Why did you apologize? Everyone else can take a joke. If a few women can't, screw them. It's like when chef left southpark, people sided with the show, not with chef for being a little bitch.
I'm sure it was just to get people to pay I hope it worked lol. oh hey can I just send you a gift card to walmart.:) but really if I Just payed for some shirts cups pens a bible with your picture on it would that Help the show.
I believe it is supposed to be a reference to an apology done by one of these religious morons or politicians who constently put their foots in their mouths and then come back with third-assed apologies then do the same stupid sh!t again right away. Like when Pat Roberston or Jerry Falwell would apologize for blaming 9/11 on the ACLU.
I never would have seen this episode if I didn't look through the comments and noticed that it only plays in HD. The first place I looked to see if there was a problem was in the side bar notes. Maybe you should put this info in there. Some people who aren't as persistent as I was might just skip this episode. I watched every vid on your channel tonight and subscribed. You are a brilliant writer. Production and acting are top notch.
Thanks for the kind words. I'm glad you finally got to see it. It's a weird YouTube glitch, but I'm thrilled about you watching everything on the channel. Oh, that you were a big Hollywood producer!
I think an atheist show would be a tough sell in the USA. Your "Words" show is also great, reminds me of Seinfeld. Maybe a combo, a show about you guys wanting to become giant YouTube stars with at least one of your MrDeity bits in the show, like the early Seinfeld shows had Stand-Up bits at the begining. If it seems that you are poking fun at yourself - that could work. If you do get a TV deal, please don't stop the MrD YouTube sketches. I love 'em.
I truly appreciate your heartfelt apology for your previous video 'Mr Deity and the Woman'. Seriously. Thank you ...by the way, what's the definition of "a woman"? A life support system for pussy.
lol dont say sorry! Mr. Deity and the woman was the best one every!!! It was so freakin funny because its so true! keep doing what you do. No matter what you will say someone will be offended. They need to learn to laugh at themselves. =)
That's what you get for apealing to such a prudish nation. X-D
My thoughts: drop the family niche and go for a more mature audience. And by mature I don't mean people over 18. You've now discovered that even 50 year old retards lack that certain "M word".
it wasn't offensive at all. It was a stereotype yes. One that gets used in sitcoms and cartoons etc ALL the time. Besides, you're on the internet. There's bias and stereotypes and rashly exaggerated opinions everywhere. anyways, this was a pretty funny ep. keep em going.
I love that apology! I didn't even think people who watched this show would be so small-minded as to actually stop donating because of the last episode! Way to address the issue in a way that will satisfy those hard-headed enough to believe the apology, since they are probably the same people who got upset in the first place. Well done, sir.
A few other people have had this happen. Try clicking on "HD" down in the bottom right of the YouTube player. That has seemed to work for everyone else.
Torquemada is the guy who came up with the idea of tying off parts of his torture victims body so they would not bleed to death. He led the Spanish inquisition. Ever heard of a tourniquet?
Youtube search did not reveal this vid for me. I found it through the RDF site.
Anyway, When waiting for the other shoe to drop (Who did we last punk?) I was expecting bin Laden but I suppose that would be outside Mr. Deity's scope.
The bit was funny but the apology was spot on. My first reaction was, "Wha... NO!" But as the sarcasm became apparent I rejoiced. Ahh, you got me.
I was expecting a more obvious genocidal nutjob like Hitler or Mussolini especially after the mention of the Jews. The ambiguity brought by not knowing who he was talking about though was good ... I think.
But the next commenter makes a good point. Bush always did have a crazy glint in his eyes when talking about attacking Muslim countries.
OK that tipped the bucket for me...I'm still laughing my head off. The last part that is not to deminish the skit, but dude the apology was hilarious. I can't subscribe again so I will have to head on to the donate button and click the mother fucker...how's that for offensive? Hope some of those christian goons read that very offensive word. Oh and don't keep us waiting so long for the next video. Grand.
SHIT, I've just watched the 1st half of the show when I posted my comment!! The funniest part was yet to come!!!
You are screwed! Now people will start watching the show and eventually they will notice Lucifer is a WOMAN!!!! You will have to keep apologising every week, and every time you make the slightest mistake all your past errors will come back to haunt you!!! ;)
One suggestion: from now on, in every episode Lucifer appears, make sure she don't have a sense of humor. =)
I would have liked to see the apology end with Amy chasing him away with a broom.
I used to use Leviticus a lot like that too. Once used to to prove to a lesbian from an evangelical household that so few of us AREN'T abominations that we may as well just wash regularly and hope for the best.
Anyone offended my "Mr. D and the Woman" has obviously not been on the listening end of a special day. That is what it sounds like to men. Get over yourselves.

I believe it is supposed to be a reference to an apology done by one of these religious morons or politicians who constently put their foots in their mouths and then come back with third-assed apologies then do the same stupid sh!t again right away. Like when Pat Roberston or Jerry Falwell would apologize for blaming 9/11 on the ACLU.
jimbrown257 2 years ago
hahaha - Loved the apology!
MiserablerHurensohn 2 years ago

HealthySkeptic 2 years ago
People really complained and/or dropped their subscriptions?
How in the hell can you have a sense of humor that finds Mr. Deity funny, and then at the same time be offended by "teh wimminz" episode?
Grow some thicker skin, people.

lol dont say sorry! Mr. Deity and the woman was the best one every!!! It was so freakin funny because its so true! keep doing what you do. No matter what you will say someone will be offended. They need to learn to laugh at themselves. =)

Uh... April First isn't until next year, dude!
That's what you get for apealing to such a prudish nation. X-D
My thoughts: drop the family niche and go for a more mature audience. And by mature I don't mean people over 18. You've now discovered that even 50 year old retards lack that certain "M word".

When will Eve get to meet Adam? And remember, they have kids. As a woman, I am clear that Cain is Adam's fault.

What? The Eve episode was my fav. I kinda anticipated how that episode would turn out was glad it did.
I got suckered by the apology, though. lol gj

it wasn't offensive at all. It was a stereotype yes. One that gets used in sitcoms and cartoons etc ALL the time. Besides, you're on the internet. There's bias and stereotypes and rashly exaggerated opinions everywhere. anyways, this was a pretty funny ep. keep em going.

I can't get this video to load for me. The other Deity videos work great but this one I can't watch :(

For some reason, this video only plays in HD mode. Click HD down in the bottom right, and it should play fine. Sorry for the difficulty.

I love that apology! I didn't even think people who watched this show would be so small-minded as to actually stop donating because of the last episode! Way to address the issue in a way that will satisfy those hard-headed enough to believe the apology, since they are probably the same people who got upset in the first place. Well done, sir.

Reg. "Mr Deity and the Woman" - I actually made my first (donation AFTER having seen this episode. But I'm a woman from Poland, so maybe I'm mad?! ;)

This video won't play on my computer. All I get is a black screen. All the other videos seem to work.
Would it be impious of me to request a miracle, so that I might see this?
Thy will be done. Amen.

Torquemada is the guy who came up with the idea of tying off parts of his torture victims body so they would not bleed to death. He led the Spanish inquisition. Ever heard of a tourniquet?

Who did they first punk? Tor Katuna?
dougontheinternet 2 years ago
Youtube search did not reveal this vid for me. I found it through the RDF site.
Anyway, When waiting for the other shoe to drop (Who did we last punk?) I was expecting bin Laden but I suppose that would be outside Mr. Deity's scope.
The bit was funny but the apology was spot on. My first reaction was, "Wha... NO!" But as the sarcasm became apparent I rejoiced. Ahh, you got me.

i was expecting..."W" to be the one! (cause of past epi's)
he has killed the same 'way', as bl, but in a huge number more, of humans. perhaps a factor of 10,000?
acrazedmaniac 2 years ago
