  • thanks for that RIC thats awesome i never heard that thing this is awesome!arnold was big person..you were good friend in old days ric?and what about now? i am very interested please answer me

  • @BodybuildingMyway I have heard from him but it's every few years. I could look him up but just haven't had the time to do so

  • Sort of unrelated, but I would liek to know how you guys delt with stretch marks? This seem to be a developing issue with me as my muscles increase in size.

  • @DerickVonD LOTs of people get them from gaining weight too quick and the skin not growing with the muscle. Use lots of moisturizer and lotion

  • great videos rick. 70s were the best..

  • Excellent videos, really enjoy them! It's nice to learn about the history of the sport. Thanks for sharing this great information with us.

  • Thanks Ric, Arnolds arms are one of the main reasons I started training back in the 80's.

  • Thanks for saying not to train on an empty stomach no wonder. When I go to the gym and after a few sets, I feel sick or wanna throw up. For now on, on arms days, I'm gonna eat something light like some rice or something then go work out. On legs, of course L-arginine and ornithine, so can't eat with those.

  • @jasoneric1981 Some muscles might recover, others wont. Have you ever done a chest workout and still had sore pecs 2 -3 days later? If you trained chest again in 3 days you would be circumventing the whole process. Even if you have recovered will you have allowed enough time for growth which must always follow recovery?

Try once every 7 days for a while and make the comparison. Cheers.

  • stimulate the muscle dont kill it ... perfect

  • ...

  • Dips are my most hated exercise but they WORK. I also blame my big chest on dips.

  • @Bodybuildinq

steroidsR4losers is here to expose and humiliate people who use drugs and any other cheating methods that I don't like.

Now who wants to "try" and stop me? :)

    Stay natural buddy!

  • @steroidsR4losers Go outside, you loser.

  • Dear Rick - BBs in the 70's seem to have been training each muscle group fairly frequently compared with today's "standards". The late M. Mentzer and than Dorian in the 90's popularized HIT approach - infrequent (ca. once a week) and low volume workouts for each muscle but done to beyond failure. Standard of the 70's and 80's was high volume and more frequent workouts (ca. 2x weekly) for each muscle. Which approach makes more sense in your opinion?

  • @biglabrador I believe twice a week works better for me, but some do once a week. It's just personal preference

  • @ricdrasin Suggesting people train bodyparts once or twice weekly as per personal preference sounds like profoundly bad advice. If a muscle is trained hard or to failure, for most people there is no way that muscle would have gone through a recovery and growth phase in the space of 3 days. Most bodybuilders today, even those on high dosages are sticking to bodyparts once per week. Many natural HIT trainers are extending that to 8 - 10 days.

  • my routine for biceps is basic too, i do barbell curls, db curls, preacher db curls bish bash bosh. my weekly routine is --> mon-chest/biceps, tues- thighs/hamstrings/calves wed- off just cardio and abs thur-shoulders/triceps fri- back-forearms saturday- cardio/abs sunday just cardio. peace!

  • This is the best channel I've ever come across.

  • whens aaron baker and samir coming on??

  • Ric, these videos and accounts are pure gold, its great to see the golden era finally being talked about and documented, if only i was there! Keep up the good work.

  • Hi Ric what about 4-6 reps ;;not working better than 12 reps;;plus you can lift more weight;;

  • 5:00 Ric was the original Magnum PI of golds gym, Seriously though that power mustache is awsome, Love watching your videos man! =)

  • hey one of the black and white photos that you have in this video ric is arnold and the famous wrestler superstar billy graham i always wanted to know since ric you were a wrestler and a bodybuilder were you friends with superstar billy graham he was in my opinion in the top three most influencial wrestlers of all time hulk hogan and jesse ventera were clones of the superstar

  • Hey Ric,

Your Videos are great man !

    I've one question:

How many seconds/minutes do i have rest between my sets?

  • @TheGAMEsZOCKER 30 sec

  • I've always believed in the basics and had an interest in the training methods of classic bodybuilders. So many young people today under estimate the results of what can come from just an adjustable bench, power rack, lat pulley, barbell and plates ,and dumbbells. So many today believe one has to use the latest hi-tech NASA type space-age weight machines to achieve good results. The basics of barbells and dumbbells have always and will always stand the test of time.

  • It's a National Landmark so far as I am Concerned.

  • Ric, Really great Segment !...The old Gold's Gym IS still there; and it's very mysterious..do you happen to know who owns it now and what it is used for (lookis like a business)

  • @catdaddy21870 I think it's a house now. Not sure but that's what it was when Gold's moved out

  • I've been bodybuilding for 3 years now and I feel like I have discovered this whole new world with new challenges and opportunities and I seriously love it!

Your videos are very informative and inspirational!

    YOU'RE AWESOME!

  • "You have to have fuel" Thank you for saying that Ric!!! Love this channel

  • Everything you have said lines up with what I found the hard way for years. Just found these vids and love the golden era bodybuilding stuff. Thanks a million. P.S. Looks like you are still in great shape. Don't quit!

  • Excellent video. Well put together, I like the pictures in the backround of good times in the gym, lots of history there. As for the the talking itself, there is a treasure trove of information for young bodybuilders, wrestlers and anyone interested in getting Arnolds arms, (if that were possible!!). Great video, thanks, 5stars.

  • Love your videos about the good old days of bodybuilding. Keep up the good work.

  • Hi Ric, this is great! You make it simple, "basics". I will add these to my training. your friend, Don "the Dragon"

  • These videos are true magic, Ric. They will be a true legacy on YouTube so all can know the truth...

  • Sir, I love what you are doing with your personal insight. This is great info that should be cherished.

    Thank you.

  • WOW! I am impressed at how muscular and vascular you are today! You were incredible back in the 70's as well!
