  • Somehow reminicant of Robert Peston

  • Classic comedy.

  • We watched this in my English class, and I think most of the class was convinced it was a real news report until about 40 seconds in...

  • I love that quiver in Peter's voice when he says "That's right", after Chris asks if he actually spoke to the finance minister. Peter knows exactly what's coming.

  • This seems like it was written by Douglas Adams. Fucking hilarious.

  • No..I don't know..

  • RTE News (in Ireland) just reported on the US debt ceiling agreement 'Nobody liked it, but they had to go along with it' Sounds like a Day Today fan writing the script!

  • Peter thank you.

  • i mean else

  • genius, one of the shows highlights, for pure ridiculousness if nothing elde

  • @MillardTi Well done! The Day Today sense of humour obviously goes over your head though.

  • pure genius

when you apply it to johann hari it just shows what a pretentious twat he really is

  • Johann O'Hari-Hanrahan... #interviewswithHari

  • Mir gefällt er nicht aber ich muss gehen mit es.

  • ich nichten lichten! genius!

  • @horsedoctorman WHATS A NOOBS

  • Haha its ageless

  • sooooo much better than 10'o clock live!

  • What brilliant satire! One of the best tv programes ever. Subversive and hysterically funny. After watching ' the day today' or 'brass eye', how could you ever look at the mainstream news and take it seriously?

  • There's a local weatherman in Connecticut with the last name Hanrahan...haha.

  • RIP, Peter O'Hanra-Hanrahan

  • @gregtube88 RIP? What?? :(

  • @Foxglurves

The dude Peter's name was based on, Brian Hanrahan. Great reporter. Obviously, the polar opposite of Peter.

  • George Costanza as news reporter.

  • trenta percenta

  • RIP Brian Hanraha'hanrahan :(

  • @zionravescene

  • it make you wonder how real the news is???....fook me people this is about as credible as the news is because the real news never gets shown. if it did people would realise that the international banks had been raping murdering and stealing the natural resources from around the world for centurys and the same people own the international news . have a look people ....because when the shit hits the fan for these big familys theyll turn on us ........research Rothchilds. Just be aware

  • You spoke to him about the technicalities of the deal in German?

  • his name is Peter O'Hanraha-Hanrahan you twats

  • How the fuck did I not know about this???

  • @quasarsphere This is quite possibly the best show ever to grace this earth, torrent it immediately and you won't regret it.

  • @anthropreneur

    Doing so right now! :)

  • .... German.

  • After watching this, it makes you wonder how accurate the actual news is!

  • @kazimann In fact, the news is not accurate at all: All British news programs and newspapers are published by exactly the same organisation and there are no real politicians. Actors are cast as politicians and all the issues raised in news programs are fake and produced according to deep social control measures. Even some of the countries portrayed in the media are fabricated to produce artificial states of emergency. Israel and Palestine don't actually exist...

  • @kazimann ...also, the bible and it's stories are less than 400 years old. Much was cribbed from Greek Myth, and much of it intentionally nonsensical to deepen the false sense of mysticism. The invention of a God who greatly rewards and severely punishes according to a strictly compliant behaviour pattern is also a manufactured social control phenomenon. It works very deeply because imagine the guilt you feel when you fail to comply? Its produced by fear of consequences that will never happen.

  • @vapourmile Very true old boy.

  • He didn't like it, but he had to go along with it!

  • @revengeguy Lool!

  • See Johnathan Charles

  • class sketch, never seen that show before, but love this :)

  • According to Google's transcribe voice thingy, his new name is "Peter honor I have a hand"

  • He didnt like it but he had to go along with it!

  • Classic

  • ich nichten lichten!

  • @filzbaum FANTASTIC idea!!!!!!

  • brilliant

  • 'trenta percenta'

  • Jesus, every other month I come here again just to have this dialogue crack me up. Peter O'Hanraha-Hanrahan never fails! Ich nichten lichten.

  • Trenter Percenter

  • gotta love the 'ich Nichten lichten'

  • superb

  • "He said he didn't like it, but he'd have to go along with it."

Unbelievable that this is the same man that wrote "Closer". Talented bloke.

  • Paxmaaaaaaan

  • Ich lichten.

  • 1.19 YESSSSSSS (!) brilliant

  • Fuckin' crackes me up every time

  • Laughed tears... Incredible.

  • trenter percenter

  • IN GERMAN - how did he say it?

    LOL!

  • Trenter Percenter!

  • Ich bin..... nichten lichten.

  • Peter O' Hanraha-Hanharan!

  • O'Hanraha-hanrahan is a legend. Love this whole bit - hilarious, and strangely, verrry sexy...

  • The nervous laughs as Peter can feel himself being rumbled are brilliant.

  • Ich Nichten Lichten

  • ah, the german for 'i don't like it but i'll have to go along with it'

  • Stewux: that bit made me larf out loud.

  • I love the " yeees " at 1.19, cracks me up every time.

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAH.

  • Oh this is my absolute favourite Day Today moment !!!!

Closely followed by "PETER YOU'VE LOST THE NEWS!"

    Hahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • poor peter

  • Trenter percenter!

  • I don't like it, but I'll have to go along with it.

  • Cobweb

  • Interesting that nobody has noted that this character was created by Stewart Lee and Richard Herring for "The Day Today"'s precursor, BBC Radio 4's "On The Hour", but Marber later passed it off as his own creation. Needless to say, Rich and Stew and refused to speak to him since.

  • Rich and Stew are pretty much over that now and they've made up. Any slanging in recent years has just been a bit of an in-joke, but yeah, you're right that they did originally create the character and Marber did claim it was all him.

  • No, they're not over it completely, as they still refuse to talk to Marber.

  • Absolute genius

  • Omg I had forgotten all about peter o'hanra-hanrahan. Comedy gold. he needs his own chat show immediately.

  • ice nichten lichten lmfao!!!!!

  • lmao

  • ich nichten lichten

  • Search for "UnbeWeaveable" on youtube. We have our own O'Hanranranharana on the laughable Murdoch toybox known as Fox News.

  • Ha ha at first I thought this was a real news bulletin with someone actually called O'Hanrahanrahan:)

  • Brian O'Hanrahan was a real reporter, hence the exaggerated imposter!

  • He is actually called Brian Hanrahan.

  • Indeed, and he's still one of the BBC's finest reporters, acting as their Diplomatic Editor. He counted them all in and he counted them all back...

  • trenter percenter

  • Peter is the shit! xD

  • oh and I'd love to fuck Chris Morris, just for his german accent xD

  • slag

  • HAHAHAHA...love it.... and how did he say it Peter... in german.

  • British comedy at its best.

  • Hilarious British comedy at its best.

  • fair play bhoston! gotta be vigilant these days! :)

  • bhoston...sod off then and stick to watching stuff that you might actually understand, you twat.

  • oh we're sorry that english comedy is actually clever. You better get back to watching your US comedy shows with canned laughter at points where there is no punch line, idiot

  • i think you just proved yourself that you have no clue what satire its.

  • Comment removed

  • It's called satire, and that's the point. It's mocking crappy journalists.

  • Ich Nichten Lichten!

  • Brilliant stuff.

But people dont seem to give credit to Armando Ianucci the main writer of the The Day Today and Brass Eye,

  • Yeah, the Armando Ianucci show is verrrrry funny, although I think I prefer The Day Today and Brass Eye. I think Armando's a little more like Charlie Brooker, just without being topical.

  • It's not real, it's a spoof news show from many years ago. This clip is one of my favourites.

  • Ich...nichten...likten

Very cleaver, Chris Morris is one of our best writers ever.

  • Actually it's Peter O'Hanra Hahanrahan :)

  • "Rufen Sie ein Taxi sonst verpass ich meinen Flug", haha hilarious!!!

  • so good...

  • Damn you Peter! You let the news get away again

  • Is this repeated on TV anytime soon?

  • genius with yes minister we have it licked

  • cfdcolin1979

Yes Minister was ok for its day...or was it? A bit too comfy I thought. Didn't Thatcher appear on it once? Wh@ major politician would've appeared on 'The Thick Of It', the best political s@ire/dramamentary ever and we get reruns of Yes Minister instead....hrrrmuph!

  • Can someone upload the easter egg from the DVD? the September 11th interview with peter and chris?

    Comic fucking genius.

  • Glorious

  • Patrick Marber is comedy gold! He's also a brilliant writer... Closer and Notes on a Scandal are to his credit.

  • Quite simply the sharpest TV satire ever broadcast. It's too real.

  • Haha....funny as hell

  • GENIUS

  • look for the 9-11 one,.....its fuckin magic!

  • 'Peter, thank-you.'

    Pure class.

  • peter youve lost the news

  • that is one of the funniest thingz iv ever seen!

  • haha... "Ich nichten lichten" ...fantastic :D

  • Pure genius. One of the finest TV shows ever, without a shadow of a doubt.

    But I'm pretty sure it's Peter O'Hanraha-Hanrahan.

Yanno, like it is at the beginning of the clip...

  • I spell fo net e kal e

  • A far cry from Closer and Notes on a Scandal.

  • Pure comedy genius. I've seen this about two hundred times and it still makes me cry with laughter. The Day Today was the best and most significant UK comedy of the nineties. Vic and Bob were great but they weren't a patch on Chris Morris. As far Newman and Baddiel, they would have made good comedians if they had been funny. Chris Morris was the Peter Cook of his generation, that's all there is to it.

  • Absolute genius -agreed - one of the funniest comedy sketches ever.

  • Absolutely hilarious.

Chris "So what is the German for thirty percent?"

    Peter "Trente percenta"

    Ha ha pure comedy

  • Chris: did you speak to the German finace minister about the new deal this afternoon

    Peter: No

Chris: And what was his reaction?

    Peter: I don't know

    Chris: Peter thank you

  • quite possibly the funniest sketch ever.

  • I dont like it but I'll have to go along with it

  • Ahem: "Ich nichten lichten..."
