  • The movement is driven by weights. There are four trains, one for the time, quarter strike, hour strike and the train that powers the twenty celestial indications and dials. The weights are located belkow the movement just out of sight of this film clip.

  • what powers this thing?

  • Thanks for the comments. What you are looking at as of 9-14-09 is quite some time ago. It is currently about 60% complete. As for how to read the clock, the dial work has not yet been created so right now you cannot eread anything, but there will eventually be about 20 different indications.

It is not solid gold, but it will first be plated in nickel, to supply a stable surface and then in two shades of gold. bronze or a pinkish color gold for all of the wheels and a yellow similar to brass.

  • I need a hobby similar to this. This type of thing has always impressed me. I started very young as a model car builder, even advanced kits at the age of 7 and 9, which I painted by hand. This is a master piece of physics, model building, mechanics, drafting, precision metal casting and milling, etc. Hats off to the designers/builders. Impressive, truly impressive work.

  • If its solid gold, then I am truly impressed.

  • What happened to the good Ol' watches?

  • i just wasted 2:31 min of myy life :/

  • @098kevin try making something like that. You don't know how to appreciate great work. And guess what, your life is not that important.

  • Yo Mark long time no see Its Steven from england i'm sure you remember me how goes things? Nice clock project by the way it looks a real work of art I must say.

  • Part of this design is based on Harrison's marine chronometer the H1. Those are the two pendulum balances as well as the grasshopper escapement. After that we fly into our own fantasy. Next month will be a new set of videos showing the clock housed in the permanent metal frames.

  • reminds me of harrisons's rods

  • Amazing! John Harrison meets Rowland Emmett. I like the Wagnerian remontoires.

  • Or perhaps Rube Goldberg.
