says this was aired in 91 but I swear seeing it much earlier than that, this was the interview that turned me onto tom waits and i've been an avid fan since. i believe i was about 16 when i saw this originally which would be around 86 not 91...

That could very well be. The tape I took this from was definately from a 1991 show--when Night Flight became syndicated, not on USA Network. Maybe they did alot of "repackaging" for those shows.

I remember seeing this Night Flight piece many moons ago circa 1991. And from this show and a friend's recommendation, I became a Tom Waits fan. 10 + years later and about 15 CD's wiser, I still love him!!!!!
