In most countries emancipation meant that women could now do what man could and along masculin lines on so many occasions. When I first heard Choice Notes (on a car advert) I thought it was very eastern sounding, I thought the voice was almost Japanese in quality. When I see Alex now she has an almost angelic purity to her vocals, they are clean, crystal clear and to top it...she's very much eye candy too....and..lets not foget the fantastic songs also. I see many women who think being emancipated means become more masculine, behaving tough etc. In Northern Europe, where I live (NL) women that are managers are really like that if we generalise a bit. I feel emancipation has partly failed: that what makes women women has been lost a bit. But they are still naggin all the time of course and having little feuds over nothing. Unfortunately they didn't lose that... ;-)

i don't think you understand what feminism is. its not at all about transitioning into something masculine. in fact, it has nothing to do with looks, its about an ideology and a perspective concerning women's role in society. if you think its about a hair cut or a whether or not we, like, wear a dress to work then you are probably one of the most naive people I've ever met.

Feminism just means political ,social and economic equality for women.there are plenty of feminine "feminist's" just as there are plenty of femme lesbians.the fact they dress more masculine is just because of there comfort with themselves.they want to not be looked at in society as a "feminine " yet still hold feminists views.I think it is perfectly fine..i get your point,but not completely valid.

@shavulture Women could work, under men and in a male sort of society. Becoming more masculin. Meanwhile, typical female strengths (o-oo) like being a mum, having a baby wasn't appreciated much. It's still echoed by feminists on TV regularly: women are now telling other women what to do with their life: "We women SHOULD do this and that (all careers)." I think, after men dominated them, there is no need for women to now listen to other women. Do what you want and feel good about it.

Besides: many women keep some of these thoughts (female below man) alive and kicking.And we are cliche a bit too I feel: not all men are barking orders either. I didn't when I was a manager. I got fired for not doing that...(joke). Music is nicer. Talking about man...ever heard of "man man"? CD "Life fantastic". "Shameless", "Steak knives" and "Dark ants" etc. Great.
