Have had the same problem for over a year on my Bold 9000 and had been placing slivers of credit card in the mentioned slots, but eventually that did not work. Pushed down the white pad and back to full volume. Are you sure that it's the best way to fix it, Mr. ? I ask you because for such problem I have simply made a 'battery pull' and then I have tried to follow your instructions to 'improve' the ringtone sound but I haven't been able to push down the white zone above the flash and I haven't carried on fearing to damage it...

At first I couldn't make the fix. I was pushing down into the little hole and nothing was happening. Then I saw some black foam under the top edge of the grey plate around the camera flash LED. I pushed on that while playing a song and heard the volume increase dramatically. So it worked (I didn't stick any card in yet) Thanks for posting the video

instead of inserting the credit card slice at the end which was problematic for me, and only tempoary, once I had the audio working well, I squeezed super glue into that crevice. it's been working well.  i can't guarantee this will not screw up your phone though. ymmv.

MAN - thanks a lot! i tried several other do-it-yourself fixes, but most failed and some fixed the problem but the cover would not be in its natural position and would come off. Your fix is just PERFECT! THANKS!

I've received and given out many tip's about repairing stuff in my time but this video really beats the lot. My bold 9000 hasn't ringtoned for over a year and upto now Blackberry Customer Services + the blackberry 9000 forums were not much help either, but finding this vid has got my 9000 fully working again, Cheers Joe.
