  • buff vista is horrible, programs are not responding, my laptop over-heats way too much, it gets slow as fuck when i open more than 2 programs at the same time.

    GOD

  • I know you were trying to help people with getting to know the Operating system, but nearly every tip you gave for me made me dislike Mac even more personally, because it seems far less as my computer rather then just a computer that I use.

  • do you dind yourself using your windows computer(s) or your os x computer(s) more?

  • i swear those lights in the background dont' actually do anything :')

  • awesome video :D

  • Hmmm … You do know that you can change a file name in OS X by clicking on a file, and then pressing enter … ? The system will immediately highlight the file name, so that you can type in a new name.

  • This channel is beginning to sound like a MAC commercial! All I know is that most of the people who use MAC OS X use boot camp to install Windows. Personally I think that says some thing. This shows that Windows can do things MAC OS X can't!

  • OS X > Debian Testing > FreeBSD > HURD > DOS > Workbench > Commodore CBM Basic > Windows

  • 

  • i have windows 7 but im switching too mac os x snow leopard but i was gunna wait till os x lion dunno wat too do lol

  • @weeaandy you can easily upgrade to os x lion soon, get a mac now!

  • "You allways see people trying to make windows look like OS X, but you never really see anybody trying to make OS X look like Windows. Hmm... I wonder why that is"

  • i use a secret underground hacker operating system

  • @joshuahardy95 let me guess - FreeBSD?

If it's Linux, I WILL cry.

First of all, 'hacking' is just tweaking a computer.

It was all thanks to idiots who introduced the term 'hacking' as doing bad things to a computer.

Second, what do you do on this OS? Do you 'hack and infiltrate the ZX3V file system on the IN3X security system on the Pentagon?' I think not.

Learn to program - Then you'll be able to do some basic hacking.

  • @buildingmovies lol it was a joke from an article i read a while back clamming that people who use linux were hackers

and i agree with you on the meaning of the word "hacking" i often have to tell people on face book to stop using that term and it was not really what they call "hacking" it was you just left face book logged in

  • Command+J brings up the view menu then chnge the sort type and hit the use defaults button, now all things auto arrange. also press enter and the you can rename something.

  • Command+J brings up the view menu then chnge the sort type and hit the use defaults button, now all things auto arrange.

  • I don't get why nobody likes Vista, I personally find it fine.

  • I like how Chris refers to mac as "The Mac" LOL

  • too much bla bla, mac os is so much better than windows, if you know how to use it dont need windows at all

  • the way os 10 "DOES" things ?

Thats what he said lol :P

  • best thing to do...get a mac and dualboot os x and windows

  • @illydinxaxen i agree dont you think people who uses both should probably know that

  • Enough with the (30 seconds) ads already FFS!!

  • OSX users need Windows, Windows users dont need OSX at all...hahaha mmm wonder why that is hahaha :)

  • OSX users need Windows, Windows users dont need OSX at all...hahaha

  • linux sux lol

  • I Just got my Mac G5 2.3 GHZ 250GBHD 2.5 GB OF RAM ANY IS WAY BETTER THN WINDOWS JUST MORE EXPENSIVE

  • windows > osx

  • I have never even touched a mac. I wish they weren't so expensive :(

  • If Macs weren't soooo expensive I would try them out. I've only heard great things about Snow Leopard. I haven't touched a Mac since OS 9 back in high school.

  • i think the zoom button in OS X makes the window as so it fits all the content in that window thats why on safari it goes to a narrow window form top to bottom of your display because web pages are typically vary long but not too wide.

  • I prefer the Windows UI. The fact that I can change the colors/opacity of my windows is nice (Constant grey in OSX gets tiresome after a while).

The most important thing to me is the fact that Windows windows have their own state for maximized windows (geez I say "windows a lot"). It makes apps like Chrome behave a lot better, and take up less space. It also makes windows easier to manage, especially since (in windows) can be resized from every side and corner.

  • How about Windows 7 vs OSX Snow Leopard?

  • Fuck you all...there's no reason to use an os that makes you close your apps twice if you just happen to have only one hand and you use that for the mouse, youre fucked by the os...like my army seargent.

  • You never see anyone going from mac to windows, because they can't buy anything after that. You lose a lot of money buying a mac. Sure, there's always some other cunt out there looking for a cunty looking cunt machine, but you sitll gotta pay ebay.

  • i love windows 7 30sec bootup it's what i love. vista was so lame

  • Well, if you want your lives to more complicated, go for windows ... Enjoy :)

  • Wine doesn't run all Windows programs and those it runs, it doesn't run 100% perfect.

  • I never was a fan of Mac, but I gotta admit that I'm starting to hate the direction Windows is taking these days ...everything keeps getting harder to find and the GUI in general gets unnecesarily cluttered, but more complex and less practical with each new version...

  • Now, after having tried a Mac for just a week, I gotta say that I'm hooked on it. It's been a while since I felt so comfortable using a computer ...it's like moving to another world. The interface is a lot more cleaner and organized as compared to Windows'. For that reason alone, I think everyone really should give it a try.

  • I'm currently in the process of making my PC dual-bootable, so I can take advantage of both Mac's well-thought design, and Windows for gaming and the similar. Whoever might be interested too, I suggest you google 'Hackintosh' and 'OSX86'.

  • Is Windows better than Mac?

  • In my opinion No.

I don't use a Mac but I do know that its more reliable and is *almost* virus free.

But Macs don't do most games...

  • Use Linux and WINE. Problem solved.

  • Absolutely.

  • The only reason anyone would play around and make Windows look like OS X is basically because one can. And as far as I know there is no way to make OS X look like Windows. If it were possible, the first thing I would do is move the min/max/close buttons to the right hand side.

  • my only complaint in Macs are compatibility with programs, you can do anything in windows, but you miss out on a lot of very powerful programs with Macs, that's the fundamental difference

  • why OS X ? windows is best OS . free software available for windows . user friendly operating system . windows can do anything think that mac do . so Why to use mac. In development and programming prospective windows at TOP there is no future of Mac . in my opinion window users should not go for mac there is very limited usage mac bound u to use only use mac software's .

  • Have you ever used a mac?

  • Why get a mac? Hmm.. There are many things that each OS can or cannot do but speaking features both OS are capable of AFAIK they do things in a different way (some say it's a better way, so they get a mac, some say it's not so they stay with Windows). And I think that's it.

  • There the same, just aranged different. I must say that Mac's software and free soft is great. But Windows has more veriety.

My thinking is you cannot talk smack about Mac or windows unless you have trying and owned both. that would end a lot of arguing.

  • Truly amazing ;)

I bet you have 20 pairs of the same colour trousers.. because you think blue jeans are 'best'..

I'm not bothered what OS you use .. what I do object to is questioning why anyone wants to use something different..

    Synk

  • @junglemage666 If you were an editor or actually did shit other than bitch on youtube and did shit productive, ud understand mac was better

  • junglemage666 isnt anything more then a gamer...

LOL....what self respecting editor would use "PWNZ"....plus look at his name

  • sure you did, poor boy.

  • I can clearly tell you do not have a mac. It's obvious. Don't say you do, cuz you don't.

  • so im wrong? its not designed for people that dont know how to use a computer? Cuz every person so far that I know that has a MAC, says that very thing... they are computer/tech illiterate and use MAC because its easy to use and they cannot screw up with it. Guess im wrong... wait... :)

  • Macs are good for people hwo don't know how to use a computer because it's easy. Would you rather pick a very easy computer that's easy to use? Or a very hard computer that even if you do your best it will still look bad.

  • @junglemage666 Mac is simple to use but powerful, it runs on a UNIX based system. My friend is a software programmer and artist, he chooses OS X simply because of "Objective C" alone. The X Operating system self-contained applications and resource free work environment make it my OS of choice. I personally use it for software development on the iPhone. Windows is nice, pretty, lots of games, but it doesn't have that solid feel - I guess we all get to choose.....

  • "You never see anyone trying to make OS X look like Windows."

That's because you can't. God FORBID you try to tamper with Apple's sacred UI, and may he the Lord himself smite you should you try to modify... or unthinkably remove... the Apple logo.

  • They are definatly different, being in Windows I'm used to double clicking the title bar to maximize a window (or windows key and up arrow in windows 7). When I first used OS X when I double clicked the title bar it minimized :S

Guess its something I'll have to get used to that.

  • sure, I just bought a mac mini with 4GBs of RAM and it runs great with the newest model

  • Should I switch? I can get a mac mini for £250,... should I?

  • Yes. I have just switched and OS X Rules!

  • on os x leopard you can select the file you want to rename and press enter and then instead of opening it like it does on windows it brings up the rename thing like when you click wait and click.

  • Pressing the red x is pretty much hiding the window, no need for cmd+h, hence why just closing a window is better as it allows apps to run in the background. It's also the difference between the program (represented by the titlebar and dock icon) and the window, which represent the program contents. The controls on a window relate to the window (which seems obvious), so pressing the red x will close the window, and to close the program you use the dock or the titlebar. Simple : )

  • Yes you can just press enter on a file and enter the new name. enter on windows opens the file but on os x it is command and o

  • cant you just press enter return buttun to rename a file

  • in only 1 thig - it works

  • Is that why there's a website called "Mac fix it"?

  • Saying Macs suck is like saying the north pole's south

  • the geographic north pole IS the south pole of the earths magnetic field. not lying look it up, thats why they call it geographic vs actual north pole :P

  • try windows 7

    i can trust u, u WILL be amazed :)

  • Vista is awesome with SP1. And Mac OS X Leopard is awesome too, so stfu

  • There's a lot more idiosyncrasies that he's explained, but these are geared toward how to use the operating system and make a smooth transition. Great explanations!

  • I have vista,its good,but i wanna try a mac

  • @IceCreamManIsMyHomie If you actually like Vista, you'll definitely love a Mac.

  • @IceCreamManIsMyHomie dual boot

  • OSX is closed source, more expenive than windows, is incompatable with a lot of hardware and dosn't have many games.

  • OS X is more expensive? OS X Leopard costs $129, Windows Vista can cost up to $400.

  • My bad there about the same price $125-130 for the vista home premium oem.

  • You have to compare it to Ultimate, because there is only ONE consumer version of Leopard, which has all of the features. For Vista, the only version with ALL of the stuff, you have to get Ultimate. Also, you have to compare Vista's full, not upgrade price to Leopard's full price.

  • Depends what your using it for as most people won't use the full feature set. Let's face it they're both rip offs. If your not playing games or running easy to find cracks Linux is the way to go. I want to play windows dx10 games and run the latest cracks so OSX has no use for me.

  • Well said. Thanks for the INTELLIGENT response (*hint* *hint* fanboys).

  • LoL Wtf is he talking about? =P xD

    There is an autoarrange :D!

Listview is not limited! With one click you can arrange it!

Use Apple Key + Q to quit it!

    You Suck...

  • This makes windows sound better.

    I have windos XP,lol.

  • vista,i have it,but i would rather have a mac but my dad hates macs so we dont have one lol

  • Vista is way to problematic in my opinion, even after getting a computer that comes standard with it.

  • I like mac os x alot, but when I use vista I never have trouble but macs are still better

  • @Baeo11 But still, you're dumb as hell.

  • blueshadow063087---> moron alert !*!*!*!*!

  • I actually switched from Windows to OSX, and don't regret it a bit. There are so many help full and use full tools built into the OS, which allows you to access them anywhere.

  • If this was not discussed, another obvious difference is how one clicks and switches between two or more apps which are located on the desktop. With Mac, you must click once only to activate that other app and then click AGAIN to input or effect the app. With Windows, just click on the other app and your instantly using that app. This always frustrates me when I use the Mac.

  • well then yo have a problem, since you only have to click once and the job is done. And either way, its only a mouse click!

  • Im not gonna Lie, ive worked on Windows Vista and xp and ive worked on Mac tiger and leopard and honestly Windows is better OS X is good dont get me wrong but its just not there for me

  • You make OSX sound like it sucks :)

  • He's just speaking the truth about the two.

  • Vista will be the end of Microsoft when it comes to the OS monopoly. No one accepts it, it doesn't run stable, people switch to Mac or Linux or downgrade to XP.

With XP being the rival, what will happen in the next years? They will be years of change, switch, boycott and ignore. There simply is no critical mass pro vista.

  • You are 1. a paid propaganda trollbot 2. a 9 year old kid with too much time 3. an idiot.

None of your claims have enough connection to the real world (yes, that does exist) to be referred to.

  • lol i have a 6 month pc (pre vista) and i installed vista and it's a piece of fucking shit. Lol pc fanboys said xp was bad, but now how bad vista is xp is suddenly like a god operating system when really it's just as bad.

  • Auto Arrange in Windows is Keep Arranged By in OS X. So, OS X *does* keep things arranged in the way specified (name, date modified, date created, size, kind or label)

  • I would switch, when i get a 2nd pc possibly. But i am not sure if it would work dual boot with Windows XP, also the problem for me is a i am a gamer and most games will not work with Mac.

  • What's the problem?

Use bootcamp and you can have your pet XP for gaming.

Then you can play and have a real, stable, secure, virusfree, intuitive, nice OS.

If you stay with Windows you can play and that's it. Just hassle.

  • Make sure you at least READ a post before "replying", trollbot idiot!

  • In regards to copy and pasting files that would rewrite another one. The Mac OS X does offer a bit more info about the file you intend to replace, if it's an old file, it will tell you its old, if it's new, it will tell you it's new, and personally, I think that's all one would need to know when over-writing files.

  • isn't the "zoom" thing to make the user see as much of the stuff in the window?

  • This video reminds me of why I'm glad I don't use OS X.

  • About the guys talking about Linux: there are bits of software that people have made that make Ubuntu look and feel like a mac-vista hybrid, but with some other added features that blow vista and mac away. I wont continue with windows for much longer, and I lost faith in mac.

    Also, Linux is free. *PWN*

  • Show

  • osx does have auto arrange, press apple, j, or go to veiw and press options, then go to "alwase arrange by-" and set how you want it arranged.

  • very informative, thank you

  • ok Im using Ubuntu right now and while it looks nice. It takes ALOT of customizing and work to get it to. Vista and Leopard out of the box blow Ubuntu away (visualy). Oh and windowblinds is a hell of a lot more powerfull than having to use emerald and gtk. BTW most of compiz features are nice but serve no real purpose.

  • If you are talking about out of the box thing than yes, win and OS X is good. But if you know a little about linux, than Ubuntu is definitely batter. And yea, none of the "graphical" features are for real purpose...

I wonder why people ranked my previous comment as -6 ??

  • Why can't I mark this as a good comment..

  • Why do people marked my previous comment as span comment? I am just giving my prospectus...u shouldn't mark it as bad just because I wrote against MAC and MS Win...

  • Sometimes, people don't have to use things in order to know they don't like them. Im a Xubuntu/XP user, mostly Xubuntu - mac is for people that don't know how/want to know how to work computers past the email/web-browsing/moving making level.

  • mac is for people that don't know how/want to know how to work computers past the email/web-browsing/moving making level.

    TRUE!

  • false!

  • i second that =)

  • definately false, i know a lot about computers but just wanted something different, turns out my choice was for the best, i love my mac and i don't think i will ever go back to windows.

  • i only use windows but i also want to try osx too. window is what ive used for years and im happy with it but i want to learn new and better ways of doing things. i take the long way to make sure i get it right. im on a 5 year old dell now from my dad. i lent van my computer so she can learn to use one her friend is teaching her. basicly im looking for the best software and try them out in windows and mac version. still new to computers i am. and i dont know much about them.

  • mac haters, give macs a try, then hate it, or love it.

  • the things i like in windows:

    resizing windows from any side

    closing app when clicking "x"

but im an osx user and i love osx

  • Chris, to say you've been using OS X for awhile now, you still have a lot to learn. To rename a file, click it and press return (to open it press CMD-O). The Zoom button makes the window as large as it needs to/can be to display all the information in that window. "Hiding" has been in OS X for ages... I never minimize windows, just hide them, then bring them back by clicking on the apps icon in the dock when I need them.

  • Don't teach him, this guy is a legend! ROFTL

  •  APPLE 

  • Since when? There are several distro's of Linux.

  • than what it is?

  • to rename is osx leopard just click the icon and hit the return key. It lets you remane. Or double click the name you want to rename. Its really easy.

  • alt+f4 ftw!

  • cool i was thinking about going to a mac but i wanted some more info about about it. i didnt here that stuff before. thanks.

  • some stuff he got wrong, like renaming, you click once, and press enter

  • I prefer Linux, but use XP. Never really tried a mac. Just couldn't get used to it when I did (years ago).

  • It's a lot different from years ago, I would recommend giving it another shot. Have a good day :).

  • you should try a mac now. for about an hour. you will like it a lot, i love my mac. you might like it more than linux.

  • Hey Chris, just curious, you said under OS X you can't easily rename the file.

Well, I don't know yet whether it's the same under Leopard, however, under Tiger you simply click the icon and then press enter to rename the file.

    Cheers

  • all the square bears spamed you and gave you thumbs down lol

  • why did people mark this as spam when it isn't... youtubes new system sucks

  • because he/she bitching on my mac..

  • Noone marked it as spam, they just gave him the thumbs down.

    2 different things.

  • bravotoosix:

    eeew...pc fanboy..

  • Vista does has its flaws. But so does OS X and Linux. However they all are great in different ways. I use them all.

  • Thanks Chris. I've always wanted to know what the similarities/difference of Windows and OS X were.

  • and why dont you talk about ubuntu? ubuntu is a major os now

  • I have used Mac, Windows, and Linux. They all have something unique about them. Ubuntu is quite nice, and it's free.

  • yea...Ubuntu rocks...

  • Linux FTW

  • Chris rules!!!

  • ..on the land of stupidity.

  • yeah!!!! i use both windows and OS X
