Hey man great video.. I'm switching from bodybuilding to powerlifting and know hammer training is intense.. I liked ur video a lot and was pretty spot on. I'm very big on doing things correctly. I got to school for kinesiology, Healy, n physical therapy so I like when I see someone who knows what they are talking a about. Thanks for the good video.
I'm really glad I saw this video! I was doing it all wrong and I think it contributed to my recent lower back injury and pain in my wrists. I plan on trying again eventually, but I'm going to do it as shown in this video.
Glad to see someone with practical experience training it. I was splitting wood with a splitting maul and sledge and wedge since 10 years old (now 40). Though I'm in horrible shape, been trying and this is a "fun" activity" that I already have equipment for.
Anyway, wanted to say, I've got years of splitting behind me and I agree that is the safe and proper way to swing a sledgehammer. Your dad was right on.
nice video dude. I swing a 16 pounder often at work (concrete/masonry demolition) and this is essentially how I do it. But I think I could refine my technique a bit particularly the bend at the knees/hips. ;) thanks
Excellent. You know your stuff. Who are these idiots that are critical? Most people on you tube that swing a sledgehammer dont have a clue.

Great technique, worked on a farm when I was a student, and the guys there showed me the same method. Thanks for sharing.

i can't believe how boring you are! you could have condensed this video in half instead of talking about your family history

& by the way , that other "technique" is goofy because you have no idea what you are doing.

Your dad broke concrete , & that's the right technique for breaking concrete. There are other techniques for different tasks.

Very clever technique, both in terms of strength saving and accuracy. Thanks for the technique (and thank your dad for us).

That's actually the way I've been swinging sledgehammers my whole life, glad to see it was correct.
