  • one inch punch

  • So I guess you should wait till you get sucker punched and laying on the ground waiting to have your head stomped before you can call it's self defense. xD

  • i dont think this is self defense because he is the only one attacking xD

  • @adamchan1 How do you feel about BJJ and fighting on the ground? Like, what if, rather than hitting you, someone took you down, unexpectedly? Do you feel it is important to learn these things so you can avoid it?

  • @Finalymadename i think its good to know as the last line of defense

  • @adamchan1 Do you think it is important to study it?

  • @Finalymadename i think its good to take statistics in non-co-operative full contact scenario training with diff people periodically- test diff scenarios ( 1 on 1 confrontation, knive -draw, 3 on 1 etc ) , test it 100x . If u are taken to the ground more than 5% of the time , study it ; if its less than 5 out of a 100 than time instead should be spent on what u are currently weak at . I dont study things based on preference , I study a particular area based on my statistics...

  • @adamchan1 Well if you are training with people who are also heavily experienced in grappling, then you will get taken down more often. Then you have to consider that a lot of young angry teenagers in America have Wrestling as part of there curriculum in school. So would that affect your decision to practice grappling?

Also, do you practice anything like CSW/BJJ/Sambo?

  • @Finalymadename , I do train with ppl who were heavily trained in grappling , thats what i meant when I stated the need to take statistic ..... if the stats ( not pereference) suggests one needs to do anti grappling then do it . As for myself , I do not studied their whole system, what I do is to get great grapplers to show me how they attack , then I develop counters ... then I test it again on them ....it is a never ending process .

  • I really dig what you are doing man, straight to the point

  • Adam r u a big advocate of sparing?

  • @shadjazz If someone is interested in self defence then I feel conventional sparring needs to be heavily modify in order for it to resemble how real life conflict unfolds ... u can find more articles about that on my site

  • @adamchan1

Well said Adam.I try to train for take the first shot and intercept.the base allways the same before contact happens(ANY!) neutral position.from there can be anything but you must go for the first shot.no grappling no wrestling.it must be a hit and put the guy under pressure.I am so glad for your video mate.

  • True!

  • Adam what do i have to do, does Empty your mind does it help.

  • Just want to commend you for putting this video up. You hit on excellent points to keep things real.

  • this is very true. great video

  • lol is he a shaolin monk he is really strong you can be better small and be fast.

  • Adam...this is good advice for anyone...especially the part about running away...most people would never understand this unless they've been shot , stabbed or lost a serious amount of blood in some way...even getting the wind knocked out of you leaves you pretty helpless.....plus if the police show up ...there's a good chance you go to jail too

  • does he mean no blocking in a boxers stance. But can you still perry and such?

  • Awesome video

  • Very true. Great video!

nice vid, haha watched it a month ago and watched it again lol my fight last month u used some tactics from this vid and it worked lol tyty

  • Good points.

  • nice video!what martialart is that?

  • Adam the demo was good...you talk of closing and shutting down...yes Ideally that is what one should aspire to DO... but that is not always what is going to happen....I mean what if you can't shut him down at once ...than what, FOR THAT YOU HAVE TO LEARN THINGS LIKE MOVEMENT, PIVOTS MAYBE CLINCH, GRAPPLING ALL OF WHICH TRANSLATES INTO SPARRING TRAINING). SO YOU HAVE TO TRAIN BOTH

  • you are right - back up skills are definitely necessary. with enough interest, maybe i'll do more clips and cover more material for other areas in the future . Thanks for the feedback

    adam

  • GREAT

  • is the target dummy the same guy from the tommy currathers video?
