@yann27 anything. there are sound designers, engineers and chemists (among others) at ableton.

to do what the people in the video are doing, you must be proficient at computer programming (languages like c and python i believe), and you must love coding. so you would go for a course in informatics/programming/comput­er science.

@yann27 I'm in the UK, I go to the University of York. In the US/Canada there are good courses in this at Stanford (CCRMA), McGill, Berklee (CNMAT) and others. It's a field of research that doesn't get much public perception, but there's a ton of theory and stuff to do.

Brilliant, I think.. So; you gave the techies who work for you carte blange to do whatever they want using your environment and equipment and in a "all expenses" (food / drinks / etc) paid session? THAT is brilliant. Nothing new, but brilliant to pick up on it. One word: Natlab. Where do you think the essence of stuff like the CD and such came from? Phillips one on one: get a group of techies, give them high tech equipment and see what they come up with. Ableton you rock!

bring back ver 1 - Live has gotten really big over the years - not every one uses max

and 8x8 (launchpad) 64 samples are plenty  - i have done whole albums on a 2 meg ensoniq eps
