Well, if you think about it, the Friday sermons at the masjids, the numerous talks by religious figures, etc., that condemn acts of violence in the name of Islam will not get picked up by the news media, simply because they do not pose a threat, nor have harmed anyone. It's generally violence that gets reported. That is probably why you do not know of all the efforts by Muslims to educate others that killing innocents is not permissible in Islam.
