I've loved this show since the very first episode aired, and I was only 14 then. You don't need an obnoxious, fake, laugh track and obvious, overused punchlines to make a show funny (I'm not saying it isn't funny, but you don't need it) not everyone is going to like every show, but it's stupid to call it 'shit' just because you and small group of people don't like it.
The jokes are hilarious,the humour is just a little dryer than most sitcoms. That and there's no laugh track, so you actually have to pay attention to know when to laugh :P

Being Canadian or American shouldn't make much of a difference in finding this show funny. Being Canadian makes it easier to relate to the characters, sure.
But the main difference is that people who aren't quick-witted enough to understand dry humour (specifically wordplay and irony) aren't going to like the show.

It's a shame they aren't on this show, then people might give it the time of day. Everyone on corner gas is forgetable and not one thing from this show will be remembered 10 years from now. I can guaruntee it won't replay like seinfeld is.
I'm an American living in Canada, and I've seen this show. I don't think it will fly in the States. You guys have some great comedians up here, and I like the actors in the show, but sorry - I found this show incredibly UNfunny. "Seinfeld" or "The Office (BBC)" it is NOT.
The humor was outdated and reminded me of "Golden Girls" or other 8Os sitcoms, speaking of!
Well, Seinfeld wasn't exactly 'funny' either. It was clever, and had some interesting dialogue, but funny? Nobody even liked it for its first two seasons; proof that people will watch anything if you just keep it on the air long enough.

"Men in Trees" does this whole "rural/country lifestyle comedy" MUCH better. It's interesting with deep plotlines, interesting characters, and gorgeous landscape. This is boring.

X-Files was one of the highest rated shows of the 90's, Reaper is one of the hottest new shows on TV, if you personally don't like them it does'nt mean that they are not popular!
In my opinion, what we need is more funding towards our productions, most shows I know that were cancelled were only cancelled due to having not enough money, and then there are all of the quality shows that have been made but have never seen the light of day for what ever reasons.
I find it sad that most of the sucessful Canadian made shows have to pretend to be American just to survive though.
