usually when artists say they are going to take a "break" or retire from making music, its because they want the album they are currently working on to sell. Jay-z did the same thing and so did Lupe Fiasco. Artist often do it to boost slumping cd sells. Its really sad because bow wow could probably make so much more if he were to go independent.
