How to root/rom Droid Charge

Guys if your on the update you will need to flash imnuts new recovery with Odin than flash infinity

Well I watched this video and followed it closely about a couple of months ago. But since then I've reverted all the way back to STOCK firmware just to install the updates that kept on popping up. But I flashed GUMMYCHARGE straight to the phone via ODIN; I DID NOT install Altered Beast at all. And it works fine. I also DID NOT wipe the phone or perform a reset on it. So for all those who are wondering, you can completely skip the Altered Beast and you DO NOT have to wipe or reset the phone

Just to give you all a heads up you can root this with imnuts kernel with cwm you will still need Odin to flash . I still have a charge I'm using for development so if you need assistance reach me on Twitter @originaldobo

The altered beast gets flashed through Odin, if you want gummy after you flash altered beast that needs to be on the root of the sd card prior to rooting. Guys I'm rarely on here if you need assistance hit me up on twitter @originaldobo

Looks like it's easiest now to use the full odin for gummycharged 1.9.1, and then wipe and flash to 2.0. Thanks for the vid!

Also the altered beast file came up on my computer as tar.rar rather than md5. So theres lots of reasons I'm guessing why I'm still not rooted.

I always recommend reading instructions before doing this and there all over the forums . Altered beast is a zipped tar.file which needs to be installed on your computer and unzipped with 7zip than flashed with Odin this video is a guide and what to expect if you don't like how it was done I suggest you make your own. I've spent countless hours assisting people root there phone. Do some leg work and read a forum there are links to all of this in the about video

I think all that info you just blazed through is what's throughing people off. About where to put the package they downloaded and why the altered beast file wont open in odin.

If you actually show the files getting installed to the sd before opening odin it will help. Because it sounds like the odin files are getting put on the SD before download mode.

I think all the files u named out and told us to get u should have us. Well if you root and flash gummycharged 1.8.5 you will get great batt life. Or if you flash Gingerbread into the phone you will get hella good batt life. But rooting puts you in control of batt life,performance,feel,and look. no other system can do that. plus there is other perks of rooting which ill keep quiet ;p

Absoulutely the are factory flashes that ive seen on xda that imnuts developed and can be flashed right through odin just make sure you disable voodoo lagfix first to avoid brick.
