Amazing voice! We just finished a Cole Porter show that included this song as a group scene. It brings back such good memories. :D

She's got a great voice for this, and I like the concept and the way she's made it different, but the song was written to have a bit of swing to it, and I feel like she could have done an awesome job if she had just given it a bit of a faster tempo. But then again, the fact that its different makes it stand out.

The point, if you had bothered to read the previous posts before going off, was to clarify that Jewel hadn't created this arrangement as thought -- that it was a cover of Ella's Fitzgerald's version. It had nothing to do with her singing ability vs. Ella's.

I love this version! I always forgot how amazing a singer jewel is, she is very under appreciated. I would say only LuPone's version is better. I don't have a problem with the tempo, Jewel is making this song her own. There have been many interpretations of this song, and if she tried to sound like somebody else, people would criticize her for doing that.

I assume she's trying to sing in the style of the original song (1930'ish). Listen to an old version , or better, the Cole Porter version. Sweet stuff. OH, btw, this music has become QUITE popular again due to a little game called Fallout 3. Good stuff, indeed.

I like Jewel, and this isn't bad, but I like the actual version. It's a better song when done fast. Also, the 1960's version of the song has the best lyrics. All in all though, pretty good.

I love this song! I listened to dozens of version of it on YouTube, and this is one of the best. I've never heard jewel before and was surprised to hear that she can sing (so many pop artists can't). Thanks for posting this.

Jewel is an artist who is constantly surprising me. I had the opportunity to see her in concert, it was just her and her guitar. She did acoustic versions of nearly all of her hit songs, and it was absolutely stunning. She has such stage presence and has a great sense of humor. She didn't have a set list of songs, she was taking requests from the audience!! I have been in love with her since 1999 and continue to be in love with her.
