Oh MAN! I would love to come across something like that! An entire colony, floating and easy to capture. No time digging out and painstakingly sorting thru dirt to gather ant after ant. Next to starting from a mated queen, this looks like the best way to end up owning a captive colony.
I fucking hate fire ants, you just can't kill those fuckers. I once left a pile of clothes near a pond and went swimming, then got out and put my clothes on and SURPRISE! totally filled with fireants. I tried jumping in the water but it barely helped since they can pretty much swim. I would have set these floating rafts of ants on fire.
