Once you grow out of your "whoa that guy is totally fast and that makes him the greatest thing ever" phase you begin to realize that things other than speed contribute to the quality of a style. Pridgen cannot be subtle, it's his weakness.

Have you listened to Octahedron? He does a great job of just laying down the beat on that record. The Bedlam in Goliath was anything BUT subtle... Pridgen was doing his job.

i dont know i think pridgens drums are tuned right to where you can hear the tempo alot more clearly so its not chaos. i feel like it was less organized in some points with jon drumming. then again omars guitar is better and cedrics vocals fits better too

yeah, their music has a specific characteristic to it. It has a psychological impact on the listener, because it's monumental and layered.

the three of them are all good drummers, and while i dont think anybody could have done bedlam like pridgen, my favorite album where i thought the drums were perfect is de-loused so as far was being voltas drummer, theodore wins in my book

In my opinion about the drumming, I enjoyed the album version more than any other. Any live recording done by Pridgen sounds too intense. They lack the very soft guitar solos and verses that counter well with the faster parts and make the song such a rollercoaster of emotion. I know the ending jams they do live sound incredible, but its not comparable.

Well since he'd wear fancy shoes during live performances, you can only imagine how uncomfortable that'd be with all his hyperactive stage antics. He supposedly actually had to have surgery on his feet because of the shoes and hd to relearn how to walk.
