you guys saying that Thomas Pridgen is just chaos obviously aren't drummers when you tear down what he does its very technical, just has soul... Its bad ass. It contains a ton of paradiddles which you probably dont even know what the hell that is huh?
Once you grow out of your "whoa that guy is totally fast and that makes him the greatest thing ever" phase you begin to realize that things other than speed contribute to the quality of a style. Pridgen cannot be subtle, it's his weakness.
Have you listened to Octahedron? He does a great job of just laying down the beat on that record. The Bedlam in Goliath was anything BUT subtle... Pridgen was doing his job.
i dont know i think pridgens drums are tuned right to where you can hear the tempo alot more clearly so its not chaos. i feel like it was less organized in some points with jon drumming. then again omars guitar is better and cedrics vocals fits better too
I agree, everyone has a Rock moment in their days.. Lol.. I wanna break everything on my side, but I just listen rock and play imaginary drums on my table.. (I broke this one with my hands, playing) :)
But I think too much chaos goes away from direction of music.. Of course it is experimental, but it becomes pleasuring just for him playing.. It it good when you are on drugs, but i stoped, so ..
the three of them are all good drummers, and while i dont think anybody could have done bedlam like pridgen, my favorite album where i thought the drums were perfect is de-loused so as far was being voltas drummer, theodore wins in my book
In my opinion about the drumming, I enjoyed the album version more than any other. Any live recording done by Pridgen sounds too intense. They lack the very soft guitar solos and verses that counter well with the faster parts and make the song such a rollercoaster of emotion. I know the ending jams they do live sound incredible, but its not comparable.
Trust me, I know way too much shit about this band haha. Like when they were writing the Frances the Mute album, Omar and Cedric lived in an apartment that had a wall stacked with a bunch of TVs, each playing a different movie or show for general inspiration.
do u not see that pirdgen doesnt sweat the song the counts for this song is no sweat for him if u think that theodore was better u have no clue what pridgen does clearly
Love this song, but without J. Theodore it's brutal. Pridgen's a monster but he can't do this song justice. Watch the version of this song from Big Day Out 03 and you'll see what I mean.
Well since he'd wear fancy shoes during live performances, you can only imagine how uncomfortable that'd be with all his hyperactive stage antics. He supposedly actually had to have surgery on his feet because of the shoes and hd to relearn how to walk.
dose any1 kno wher ican get a jacket or a coat like what cedric is wearing in this video?
plz comment back if ukno wher to get one (: thanks ^^

yeah I agree. I feel he lacks subtleness in his playing in a smooth sorta way but he does have his subtleties. Great comment man!

I disagree, he plays very subtle parts on Octahedron.

Jon is better. ROCK!
Pridgens is more chaos. To me, it doesn't rock
Luckzzz 2 years ago
since when is rock NOT chaos? xD
chaos is one of the main characteristics of rock music, it's a form of protest, it's brutal.

volta has some hard stuff man....beat the shit out of any pantera or that shit...de-loused is probably the best album EVER
LinkkilledthepromQ 2 years ago 10
yeah, their music has a specific characteristic to it. It has a psychological impact on the listener, because it's monumental and layered.
It's just.......one of a kind...

Does anyone even know that Blake Fleming wrote the drums for this song? So there, no more Theodore vs. Pridgen. Fleming wins this one.
