@neolithicmoon try "thr bewley brother "from the hunky dory album thats sung quite bassy ,although it does have high harmonies but the main melody is very low ..awesome song aswell but a bugger memorizing all the words lol

Since I discovered this song was about Bowie's schitzophrenic brother who was actually tried to commit suicide in a mental asylum, it always makes me shiver listening to it. The simplicity of your version really hits home the creepiness of the song... That's a compliment by the way :D
