  • Thanks!

  • Zivic is in the cartoon (I assume) because he would not give Charley Burley a title shot after he won it from Armstrong. Zivic and his management were so against fighting Charley that they bought out his contract to avoid a match.

  • Very cool short vid. I enjoyed it.

  • in the cartoon at 1:26 what zivic are they talking about becuase Fritzie Zivic fought charley 3 times and won the first one, charley zivic didn't fight him

  • loved to have seen Burley Vs Greb that would've been a violent chess match

  • breaks my heart that the brother didn't get his shot......shame on SRR

  • @LVSWTZ:

    And everybody else too...

  • @tw69hands2 yep! It's one thing to be ducked by one Supposed Great Champion. but to Ducked by almost the entire Era? WOW! He had to have been a Super Great Fighter.

  • the music goes so well with the vids. can you list the music along with the vids please?

  • Where can i get a copy of this video?

  • burley was a genius, especially defensively. james toney, bhop, and mayweather are probably the only contemporary fighters who are almost that unhittable.

  • @Robstailey Yeah, its a lost art. Most try to learn to attack without learning the basics. If you look closely though, guys like Toney, Bhop and Mayweather will age much better than your average fighter because of this. I think McCallum is another great fighter who was able to benefit from a proper grasp of the basics (criminally underrated and avoided by the Big Four of his time).

  • @Robstailey dont forget our main man Nunn - that man could have been the greatest...

  • Funny how some philodendrons always seem... to discover, or seem eager to add, some "racial" element to any conversation, be it live or virtual. Hilarious as it is sad.

  • @globalteamincome1

Did you also know that black people are on average less intelligent than both white people and asians?

Ouch, sorry bro. Even if you were the best fighters (which you're not), we still own everrryyything else.

  • @ConstrictedTruth yeah i think blacks are less intellegent since the school system sucks for inner city kids

  • @globalteamincome1

Haha I took one look at your page and realized that you are an idiot. "We are the best fighters". Bahahahaha, sorry bro, niggers dont dominate combat sports anymore, hate to break it to you, but theres more non-black champions in both boxing and MMA than there are black. GTFO out of here you stupid troll. I'm white, you near Cincy, OH? I'd love to box you.

  • IM NOW A CHARLEY BURLEY FAN!!!!!!! THANX MRBURLEY46

  • Who said anything about the style being a black American thing?

The video is about a group of fighters who were known as The Black Murderers' Row. Nothing about style or origin of style.

  • @MrBurley46 Fair enough point! Sorry to introduce an element of truculence to your comment box. Great vid! No offence.

  • Dude, these guys are great fighters and your vids are great, but Burley's style has nothing to do with "Black"! It's the classic English style used and explained by the great British fighter, Peerless Jim Driscoll, and many others. I'm sure these fighters were avoided, in part because of their colour, but that doesn't mean that their style was a Black American thing. The Klitschkos fight using a variation of the English style right now, but what credit do they get?

  • song title anyone?

  • @Kroach It's definitely BB King...try searching BB King blues boys tune

  • @mootle661 Yes it is! Cheers and happy holidays

  • The row was the most talented set of fighters of their time and I rate them very highly. Burley and Williams are 2 of the 50 greatest fighters ever with Cocoa Kid, Eddie Booker and Jimmy Bivins right behind him. Marshall was no slouch himself.

Every single fighter in the row would have been a multi division champion today.

  • great video mate thanls!

  • Charley Burley is an all time great...all boxing fans should learn about him!

  • Not to mention that Burley was much better skilled than Langford. Burley would have a field day with Langord's wide open defense. Knock-out!

  • No fighter was more skilled than Langford.

Why are you trying to poison this thread?

  • Langford was great in his archaic time. Burley would kill Langford. From the scarce film of Sam i see MANY flaws that guys in CB's day would exploit with very bad intentions.

  • TheChoice doesn't have a clue.

    Another internet gasbag.

  • LOL. Thanks.

  • TheChoice is right, back then boxing hadn't really developed and Langford did have holes. I'm not saying that Langford couldn't learn from what was happening in boxing at this time and the new tactics back then, which would of gave him a chance, but if he were to fight Charly as he was back when he was around Charly would win

  • As good as Burley was,

    he was no Sam Langford.

  • @marcxopoco no he was better

  • @Mishifier way to articulate a valid point, man. langford was feared for his toughness and tremendous power more than he was for his skills. you could hit him all day, but he could take it and come back with strong shots. a supremely skilled fighter like burley, who had power in both hands would have taken langford to the shed.

  • I'd rate Burley # 2 behind Langford for greatest fighter never to win a world title.

With about 16 weight classes and 4 recognized belts per division, there's no telling how many belts Burley would have collected today.

  • Burley fought in a tougher, and more skilled era.

  • Packey McFarland, Mike Gibbons are some others.

  • great job, burley is a all time great
