I can't blame some of the people who feel like picking on BYD's cars, the reason being?

The Chinese people have somehow managed to veil themselves with notoriety for producing products that have subpar quality -- dangerous to be exact, melamine in milk products, poisonous paint in toys, things that break easily, etc.. It's natural for Americans to react that way, actually majority of the world population feels the same way.

EuroNCAP or not, this is a head-on crash caught on video. When you get into a crash, is there such a thing as a EuroNCAP crash? Perhaps they just used the EuroNCAP standards (speed, what's measured, etc.). Even an MB S-Class in a Paris tunnel will have unpredictable outcome.

The car did well. Why? Hint: most body parts are interchangeable with the Toyota Corolla E120.

This crash test does not seem very reliable. It seems done at 40kph (by the recochet to the tyre wall) and still the front door has been compromised and not so easy to open.

Anyhow, it is NOT an euroNcap test as it implies. By this first fraud evidence I think that any other result is not valid.

I see your point, but it's hardly an "apples to apples" comparison. The japanese had a track record of innovation (example: sony invents transistor radio) leading up to their introduction of cars into the american market. The chinese have a track record of copying and reverse engineering. The chinese can/will/did easily copy their way to a producing a successful sedan. But will they innovate/improve/robustify over time? Only time will tell.

The title is misleading! There is nothing Euro NCAP about this Russian crash test. Using that term simply because they use the same speed doesn't make them the same. Check for yourself on the euro ncap website: the Byd test isn't on it!
