@NintendoDSVampire this is NOT a skateboard (a skateboard has a sigle deck that is all one peice and has four wheels that are in fixed positions) and skateboarding's true country of origin is still a matter of debate (but its first incarnation was more than likely created in france or near that part of europe, and there is a guy in russia that says they stole the idea from him) so yea....... -_-

@marcuspinson Actually, skateboarding most likely originates from places where there were mad ocean waves, because skateboarding comes from surfboarding. It DEFINITELY doesn't come from Russia or Europe. America undoubtedly was the first to make commercial skateboards.

@NintendoDSVampire actually no thats where the "longboard" came from the firs skateboards where metal roller skates wheels and a plank of wood thats why they where called skateboards becase it was a board with skate wheels attached to it

@marcuspinson Wrong. Longboarding comes from skateboarding, but has the same style as surfboarding. The wheels WERE NOT metal roller skate wheels, they were METAL WHEELS. Thats all. Clay or metal.

@NintendoDSVampire no my friend you are wrong the FIRST skateboard was made with roller 'skate' wheels and a wooden 'board' (hence the word "skateboard") and was first assembled in europe in the late 20th century when a craftsman saw a child crying because the childs favorate pair of skates broke and could not be fixed but when he saw that the wheels where still good he decided to try and took a wooden board and a few metal fittings and created the very first "skateboard". so yea...... -_-

@NintendoDSVampire Wrong again (wow you are really bad at this), the skateboard has been in and out "fad" status since the late 1800's and that man who make the first version sold something like 530 "roller skate boards" (which we more ike a wierd scooter w/o handle bars) but and american saw it on vacation and brought it back to america and it was phasing in and out until the 70's when it realy got big (although people think it might be going back under again)

@marcuspinson Lol so he only sold 530 of them and you call that commercial? THAT IS CALLED A FAD. Do you know how many hula hoops were sold when they were first made? If it was a weird scooter with handle bars then it was a SCOOTER! NOT A SKATEBOARD. Skateboards were first made as practice toys for surfers, IN AMERICA. The reason skateboarding got big in the 70s was because the Z Boys brought a new meaning to it and put a bit of style and new tricks into the new sport/art.

@NintendoDSVampire first, you miss the point, for the time 530 WAS commercial. second, i said w/o that means without. third i said "people" i didn't say "I" i dont think it is (but then again its been awile since i personally tried to kill myself on one of them over the weekend, so im slightly out of the loop) and i have the dogtown and z-boys documentary to i also have one of the 530 FIRST skateboards (i used to be realy into the sport, had my own team and everything)

@marcuspinson Lol they weren't commercial if it was only 530... Anyway, America is was the first to make skateboards. It was NOT europe, as you said, it was a scooter. The first were made in America, for practicing surfing.
