  • Wayne Free is good at what he sings as is Jackie. The Swingin Medallions are the ones who lost out on this deal asWayne WAS that bands vocals. Jackie, he was the Embers sound for so long...along with a few others of course. Want to hear the old embers, go see Legends or CWB. The new Embers, you'll get the best of both...the Medallions and Embers all wrapped up in one. This thing we have, beach music, well there is enough to go around, just enjoy it and dont take the bands so serious.

  • what is the guy's name singing? He is just simply fantastic !!!!!!

    Thank you

  • Shag, you've obviously never heard Wayne live. The man is one of the most talented singers out there. I will not partake in insulting another singer, as you have done, but to insult Wayne just shows that either you are deaf or have no sense of what talent is.

  • @Wolfangel30824 well I've heard the guy sing and I'll break the news to you Angel. The dude just is not very good. He seemed cool enough on the stage but put him in the lineup with most professional singers and he just would not cut it. At best, a good backup singer. Think about the American Idol show and imagine what they would say about his vocals. Sorry but I don't think he would ever get close to getting onto the show even if he wasn't an older dude.

  • @PatRichman71 .......I've been a manager for most of my career and I always advise my talented friends to not pay attention to critics. Rarely are critics qualified to judge the many aspects of talent. This very well may be your problem. I do not manage Mr. Free so I am not his spokesperson. If I was, I would advise you if the next time you see or hear his performance you find yourself unsatisfied, walk right up to him and tell him politely to his face. I bet he will refund your money.

  • @PatRichman71 ........another thing I believe is worth mentioning. Mr. Free is not singing on this particular track. That's Jerry Tellier and in my opinion, he's doing a fine job with the song. And considering it's a live venue and probably recorded right off the sound board, the band really sounds good. IMHO there is enough negativity on the 6 o'clock news. Get up and dance or sit down if you choose, but enjoy the music. Life's short! Peace, out!

  • I'm glad there are still many fans of this band. They have done so much to promote beach music over the years ,and still have some fine musicians. However, not close to what they use to be and Wayne just doesn't cut it compared to Jackie or Craig as a lead singer. If you want to hear a great vocal artist sing "Brenda" check out O.C.Smith on U Tube.If you want to hear the best beach music band performing today, check out the Craig Woolard band's latest C.D.May Beach Music live forever!

  • Change is not always a bad thing...loved Jackie Gore and Craig Woolard...still do...but the current cast of The Embers are extremely talented and a joy to watch. Wayne Free is a truly entertaining lead singer with great vocal talent and real charisma and the new cast of young musicians (Stephen, John, and David) are entertaining, talented and hopefully will keep beach music alive for years to come...don't listen to the naysayers..go see them for yourselves...you will become a fan!

  • The Embers aren't even close to what they use to be.Greed by the founder,B.T., disenchantment among the musicians and vocalists, that made this group one of the great beach music and show bands ever, has relegated this current band to a "has been", relying on their past reputation until their "embers"are extinguished.Very sad.Fortunately, Craig Woolard left, and has formed a great band that is tearing up the Beach and R&B charts with their CD's.Jackie Gore has formed "Legends of Beach Music"

  • "Shag", it's one thing to have an opinion of how you feel one singer compares with another but to directly call out "the founder, B.T." and call the band "has beens" is just insulting. It appears that ALL of these "beach" bands are simply cover bands playing the 60's and 70's tunes over and over or relying on the same ol' worn out groove when composing new songs. If The Embers are "has beens", Woolard and Gore (self proclaimed legend) are just as "has been"! Where is their national following?

  • @JazzCreator Sadly there has never been a national following. The Shag was founded in N Myrtle Beach, S C. and is still big today on the coast beaches. The East Coast Beaches has a different feel than any other beaches in the world. Beach music is our thing. All of the now groups are rehashed members. Sad but true. But it' s still all good. Jackie Gore is still kickin ass on the coast. Graig has a large following. So it' s still Beach Music as usual.

  • @JazzCreator Well put.

  • The Embers are not the same at all. It is all new. I'm sad. I guess that's what happen when you get old.

  • Your not getting old just mellow, dont ever be sad,

  • You are too sweet.

  • Im sorry, Brenda

  • FloridaRassler i think you have that backwards. its Jackie Gore who made the embers.

  • The Embers are not the same group without Craig Woolard and the Mighty Mark Black.

  • I agree with you kehebabe. They do rock. They played at my very best friends wedding reception a few years ago. Damn it was a riot... I'll never forget that wedding reception.

  • Trying to find, Somewhere Over The Rainbow?

You guys will always rock! Kay
