  • judo is an underrated martial art

  • @SabonninFilms no it's not my brother do you know how many people practice judo for mma or other tornemants judo is just the best art of true warrior;)

  • @momo200090 I practice Judo

  • Watching this video, makes me very proud for being a Judoka.

  • Yoshida = legendary.

  • Nice use of gregorian lol...

  • es

  • @danieldoidim

    Era-Divano

  • calculator

  • I LOVE JUDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

  • what is the name of the song that starts at 1:26 please ?

  • what's the the of the throw at 0:50?

  • @anonimopolesano i guess that's a kind of flying armbar !

  • hi

very nice video! nice throws... love it :)

    can anybody say me the song 1min 28 - 2 min 52?

    pls :)

  • @Andreasxxxyyyxxx the band is era and song is divano. very cool band. the language is a mix of latin and some other language. nobody really knows what they say but it just sounds bad ass

  • :46, I do that alot, love the twister!!!

  • what's the name of the first melody?0:00 at 0:22 that sacred style music... it's very nice plz tell :)

  • In martial arts, Judo is the best, BJJ can´t stand up against a judoka, and any other martial art out there has min. chance against Judo. It may not be as spectacular as many other arts, with fancy kicks and punches, but this has been tested in the battlefields for centuries by legendary warriors the Samurai, one on one there is just almost no chance against a judoka.

  • @jfukuyama I really like your one dimensional thinking. Judo was not battle tested against Samurai warriors, it wasn't developed untilt the end of the 19th century.

  • @19thaman79 well you should make a little bit of research judo techniques derives from jujutsu, which was the battle field martial art of the samurai, and today those techniques are still used by judokas today, the difference is that judo has evolve as a sport.

  • @jfukuyama A little bit of research, okay. Kano Jigoro derived Kodokan Judo from the many styles of JJJ that he practiced at the end of the 19th century. BJJ was derived from a form of Japanese Jiu Jitsu called Fusen Ryu Jiu Jitsu which is Ne waza which was used against the Kodokan during the Kodokan at the Kodokan challenge laid out by Master Kano, Kano was so impressed by this that he asked Master Tanabe to teach it at the Kodokan.

  • @jfukuyama ur wrong man dont get me wrong i love judo. but every art needs eachother. u cant just beat people by takin them down or throwing them. there must be more. all styles set eachother up for the next style. use them in different situations. kinda like guns. i walk up on u with a shotgun ur fucked, i walk up on u with a sniper rifle bolt action u have way more of a chance. is one gun better than the other? no bc u use them for different situations just ike fighting

  • ..In a ring there are rules. In warfare there are no rules, what is he to do against a man who is drugged up? Maybe two men, or three?

  • great music well made

  • I do not advocate that Judo is better than other styles, but simply speak on behalf of what is factual in Judo, its essence and use. That is all! What is the best martial arts for self-defense?One that you have trained in for years and years and years; the younger the better.. It must suit your personality type.

  • @Fintolgano I coach Judo and love the sport ! But agree anybody who practices any martial art for a number of years to a decent standard is dangerous and commands respect !

  • i like judoooooooooooooooooo

  • Who is the singer and song from the last 2 minutes?

  • WOW! 1:37 was realy amazing counter! i just can say beautiful!

  • 3:36

  • I'd like to see a judo match between Fedor Emelianenko and Vladimir Putin... just an exhibition. I'm sure it would win him many votes for the next election!

  • viva el judo forever the best

  • 2;37 was nutzz

  • bat here have sambo rusian judo

  • Form a training perspective, being primarily a jiu-jitsu guy, I think judo is almost unique. these guys are so explosive, but I'm not too sure if their cardio is good or not. Anybody here know how much cardio professional Judoka do? Compared to low-rep weight raining? From my limited view, doesn't seem like cardio would be much of a necessity here.

  • tons of cardio. endurance is the game.

  • judokas have great cardio

it is really difficult to just freeze the fight just like you do in bjj when you need to breathe.

you can try to stall but sooner or later you{ll get thrown.

with no cardio there{s no explosiveness either!

  • Dude, I've done a little judo competition, and trust me cardio is more than essential. I run 9+ km every week just to keep up. The thing is, just the fight for the grip is pretty much a constant weight exercice, and because of all the outbursts, you get extremely tired really fast, as in competition these are full strength outbursts non stop.

  • @happynobody best way is to get an attack in as soon as you get a grip commitment is the key once you start an attack you have to keep going til u get them down i won six out of seven fights this way five with throws one with a tap out when in my last comp ive only been back training for two months still smoke over weight and unfit not one of my fights lasted more than two minutes the only reason i lost my last fight was fitness and lack of training

  • @jmacsdl Using feints also helps, direct attacks can work great, but can often be predictable.

  • @ichujini No such thing as a "professional" judoka first of all. It's an amateur sport. Secondly, cardio is sport-specific. Being able to run a marathon doesn't mean you'll last in Judo randori (and vice-versa). Judo is repeated short bursts of extreme exertion. In short, these guys have insane cardio for their sport. 5 minutes of Judo randori can seem like an eternity....

  • @maofas

    make it 2 minutes...

  • idolos

  • 0:16

    Perfect Ippon. Just perfect.

  • D'où viennent les images à 0:45 ?

Where do the images at 0:45 come from ?

    Thank you!

En tout cas belle compilation ;)

    Judo Roxx!

  • What is the last song?

  • galvanize

  • Je ne savais pas que Carlos newton venait du jduo

  • JUdo is not a sport it is a way of life i am a judoka and my Gi is My ARMOR ND My soul

    JUdo FOr life

  • @lilliamXXX MUPPET Judo means the gentle way, taken from JuJitsu it is an oylimpic sport. And learn english. Probably not earned the first belt yet.Mup[pet.

  • JUDO the ultimate martial art! ASK HELIO for his fight between him and kimura, jejeje

  • Piekne rzuty super filmik jeden z lepszych

  • what's the name of this song?

  • Buenos entrenamientos , y gran esfuerzo , saludos

  • For takedowns, positioning, and control; wrestling has no equal; but obviously one needs submission skills to become an effective grappler; enter BJJ.

  • blue.

    then brown hopefully

  • ah ok good use.

learn without your gi, as a freind, i advice you not to compare wrestling with Judo.

They are not the same, Judo you pin for 25-30 secs.

submit, choke or lock a joint (elbow, shoulder)

    or throw on back.

Wrestling you pic for 3 secs i think.

as for your mix for pankration.

    Brilliant

  • They are definitely different sports. It's like comparing kickboxing to muay thai... on the surface they might look similar but the technical aspects and rules are much different.

  • No shoulder locks in judo.

  • nope there is.

Ude Garami, Ashi Ude garami (omoplata to those BJJ guys)

    and others

there are shoulder locks in judo

  • No, all the variations of Ude Garami are elbow lock. In Judo competition rule, Kansetsu-waza implies only elbow lock. Other locks are not allowed although exist in Katas.

  • 9 years on and off.

so what you moved into pankration whilst at judo?

  • well, this is what happens when westerners are given power over an eatern art imho, im sure the japanese didnt sanction these stupid rule sliek no moroto gari as an opoening technique or not kokas or limited groundwork.

Juod is gonna turn into karate man

  • I agree original complete Judo is the best .

What happened is sport Judo took over .

And that gave BJJ a chance to become dominant .

Because sport Judo abandoned most of the ground work . And BJJ just carried on the complete system of Judo .

  • blame the IJF

  • all the judoka's need to break away from the IJF and start a new organization where the old rules can be restored. with longer newaza.

  • No. Judo is not wrestling, any way the newest rules sucks really

  • I KNOW no leg grabbing !!?

  • indeed that sux very hard, the koka is gone 2 here, u cant grap in your own sleave for a strangelation(idk the word)

i am a 1st kyu and im going 4 1st dan this year!

  • agreed man. we have a few newaza tournaments around here, but the fact that you cant attack the legs right now to get back to "traditional judo" is just retarded to me....kataguruma is one of my favorite throws....no more now. its like we had to "re-learn" the sport.

  • @mulisha6 you can still attck the legs aslong as there part of a combo or counter to another throw. i use the kataguruma as a counter when im in a defensive stance and an opponent tries to reach over my should to grab by belt and throw me then i drop down and go for the kata guruma. its perfectly legal. i also like to go for a kouchigari then pick up the opponents leg and use that to drive them to the matt.

  • @tyebo87 I got a shido for Katagurma off a failed uchimata attempt, guess it depends on your ref, but I ippon'ed 3 guys my last tourny, got Wazari, then Shido, then lost to a choke in the final....They are giving out more Shido for playing the line too...Also saw 3 hansoumake for people ducking under if opponent is not reaching over...getting crazy, atleast where im from, but good luck.

  • once you drop to your knee it is no longer a kata guruma it is "skillful entry into mat work. defensive stance leaves you no options your teachers should be yelling at you about being hunched over like a sumo wrestler. and make you stand up and use your hips.

  • i only take a bent over stance when i gigati. my instructor bollocks us for taking a hunched stance, he likes to see traditional straight stanced judo. rightly so i belive.

  • @tyebo87 I agree with breaking away from the IJF. I also believe that the IOC has too much influence in judo. we don't need the IOC to tell us what judo should look like.

  • @tyebo87 I ate to say it in a way, but BJJ is that organization!

  • @puffyasiandolls Its not just about newaza but also the new restrictions on leg grabs, grips etc which are just stupid. i have played with the idea of doing bjj instead but i just cant get past the fact that they dont do enough throws/ takedowns in most clubs. and the slamming throws are the best part of judo. theres no point having awesome ground work if you can get the fight down to the ground in the first place.

  • @tyebo87 I definitely agree with you. BJJ is great but a lot of BJJ experts are scared to get thrown so it makes them passive at the very beginning. All fights start standing. I don't want to be on my back unless I have to be. All the stupid new restrictions make me just want to train at my Judo gym include BJJ and enter BJJ tournaments to get what ever slam and throws I want.

  • @buffbode yeah Bjj is really 1940's judo rules. BJJ is probally more like proper judo than modern olympic judo is.

  • @tyebo87 I , absolutely agree, but with a straight, right on target slam/smash on hard ground; the case is over. No need to go nowhere down there. In fact the the slammed assailant is at one's mercy from punches, kicks, chokes, arm locks, knee locks. Sometimes it could be dead, crippled, unconscious, or bleeding profusely. It's vital to do sufficient stand up tossing, smashing, counter throws, leg grab and quick seeps, multiple combo throws, fast and HARD and practice balance at all times..

  • @Fintolgano true. even a simple ashiwaza technique will bring your opponent to the ground while you remain standing. from there you can either escape or kick them lol

  • @Fintolgano : Not to mention if a Judoka can throw another Judoka, one who has the same knowledge then just imagine how fast and deadly their throws would be against someone who does not know Judo..And any one of these throws on hard concrete or hard dirt, and all I can say is.....GAME OVER....lol...

  • @bostonian314 Thank you!! Believe it or not, this has crossed my mind. But this time you hit the nail. Yes, absolutely.. you are a genius, because what you have stated is a complete fact; it's real. Just imagine what could happen. Even when a great, experienced Judoka makes a mistake, another with slightly less experienced could catch him/her unaware and 'Bingo'.. Because the throws in Judo just happen, out of the blue, fast and in an explosive manner. Fine comment.

  • @Fintolgano Amazing comments on Judo Fintolgano. Judo offers everything there's. Control and confidence, strength and speed, awareness are nothing but a few of the fantastic benefits. And yeah, if standing anywhere hard normally, the streets and dressed you are fucked if you get slammed by a Judoka that knows his stuff.

  • @tyebo87 I agree with you. I got a DQ at a tournament off of a throw that was made illegal like just this year. We are starting get bound by rules that break the fluidity and rhythm of what will occur in a realistic situation.

  • @tyebo87 ooo yeah boy!!!!!!!! our instructor doug rogers are agaisnt those rules too

  • @tyebo87 agreed, newaza is slowly disapearing because you only get like 7 seconds to turn the guy over.

  • Dont forget Kosen Judo, pure NEWAZA!

  • BJJ nothing compare Kosen Judo!

  • Sambo=Judo Offspirng

    BJJ=Judo Newza Offsping

  • Judo=Jiu Jitsu offspring

Sambo=Russian folk wrestling and some of judo

  • In Japan, there were many schools of JJ, each with it's special techniques. Dr. Jigoro Kano studied many of them and put together his own, which he called Judo (1882, Tokyo). It was also called Kano Jiu Jitsu. As a sport, Judo has certain rules, but as an art, contains other techniques, even strikes. Today, all forms cross pollinate, and I think, to say one is better than the other is a little simplistic. Both are great, and we can all learn from each other.

  • Judo was a coined term.

it wasnt claled Judo as you rightly said it was Kano Jiu Jitsu

    The gentle way-Judo

  • THE TIME IS NOW

    BJJ MUST DIE!

  • The second song is a cool version fedor would be proud/

  • yes ,can someone tell me whixh is the very first musci we can hear ???? i just love it !

  • the music is galvanise by chemical brothers

  • JUDÔ FOREVER!!!!

  • Great throw at 2:36 but I don't think it's ippon.

  • hmm the first few minutes with the real judoka are great, but the ufc throws (and i actually like ufc) are mostly no real judo throws....but cool video anyways, judo owns

  • Then what is it wrestling?

  • some of the throws yes, there are some wrestling leg shots....and some of the throws aint really from a martial art, some of them just lift the other on and throw them on the ground...but the first 2 minutes or so are great judo throws

  • It's all wrestling to me anyways. Knao just made wrestling look pretty. I'm a brown belt but just got bored and pissed off the rules.

  • Music?? please

  • the kind of takedown at judo is realy nice but BJJ are better !!!!

  • It's all the same shit. Theres nothing new in either style because they all come from a line of of evolution based off traditional Japanese Ju jitsu.

  • idiot

    judo invented BJJ

more so Judo is better than BJJ

  • only an idiot would claim one style is better then the other.. it's just a set of tools, it's the person who makes the difference..

  • couldn't have put it better myself.

  • but a person can be limited by the tools he uses.

  • absolutely true ^^, you can't kill a bird with a hammer, but if you'll learn how to thrown one, you still have a shot ^^

  • @Taronga i agree....and i think it depends on the individuals body type as well...a short, stocky man with little reach may not be the best to use mui tai and so fourth

  • @Taronga That is true, one art or style is like a hammer, you can't get everythign done with just a hammer, you need other tools

  • @Taronga Right on man.

  • @Taronga agreed!!

  • @Taronga

It keep things interesting, motivate one to master the art or points of system as the Japanese would have said. Of course with modern weaponry, the ancient arts deemed obsolete by many Japanese and Westerners alike, until somebody advanced personnel armor then it will lead to other things.

  • Comment removed

  • my favs 0:18 and 4:02.

  • sambo is a judo offspring

  • Why do they show fedor, then they show him getting thrown?

  • you mean at 2:53 ? thats Fedor who throws his opponent, he's not getting thrown

  • Nah not that one. The one at 1:29

  • Oh is it him in a sambo tournament? Are you sure? because the footage is so blurred...

  • yeah, look up Fedor vs. Alexander Sambo. His brother is in the red. Fedor is blue.

  • 2:41 is that an ippon?

  • nice vid but what has Fedor to do with JUDO? he is a Sambo legend

  • Yeah, but he has Judo background, and was a russian Judo representative and he is Masters of Sports in Sambo and Judo. Fedor is also a boxing practitioner

  • Fedor holds a blackbelt and has a "Master of Sports" cerification in judo

    his Judo record:

    Russian National Championships 1997: 1st

    Russian National Championships 1998: 3rd

    Moscow International Tournament 1999: 3rd

    Sofia Liberation A-Team 1999: 3rd

    Dutch Grand Prix 2000: 7th

  • If you take off your gi and it's freestyle wrestling.

  • there is hope for Judo now...........

    BJJ days are finished

  • I like that you also showed Fedor in the vid :-)

A lot of "Judo in MMA" highlights don't show him though his two main fighting styles are sambo and judo

  • I have yet to see any powerful throws in this video yet. It all just looks like the two men are just trying to "Kid" trip each other. Hope to see more videos where they actually do powerful throws and not "trip" each other.

  • Trust me, its about 100x harder than you give it credit for.

  • But what I want to see are the powerful and deadly throws, not some kiddish tripping. "Leg to leg" then push.

But a review of the video I actually got the chance to see some really dangerous throws. But they were too few.

btw, I'm not even saying that they are easy to do. Guess I just want to be entertained by more expert throws.

  • i suppose that if your looking for powerful throws you need to look for say the olympic elite judokas. But it doesn't always look great because they are against almost equally skilled competitors at defending. If you like pick ups search that, some good vids. Or harai goshi KO. i've seen people break ribs from throws. The throws aren't too dangerous when done by the best. Thats why you can do randori. Its the gentloe way and afety of your partners are key qualities in the sport.

  • What you're looking for are probably more of the hip and hand throws. Well executed uchi matas and kate gurumas are very impressive looking as well. I understand if you're looking for entertainment value. When a fighter "turns the corner" with a double leg takedown (morote gari) it is extremely impressive - try looking up Rhadi Ferguson, he's got a slam at ADCC on youtube that is beyond belief.

  • Thanks, I will look up Rhadi Ferguson. But one more thing if you are willing...

ugh, everyone on youtube seems to like assuming many things. Can you give me an insight on the community as of current?

  • The judo community or the youtube community? I'm afraid I don't post much on youtube, but I could say a few things about judo if you have questions - though I don't claim to be a great expert.

  • The youtube community in particular. We can't share one opinion without having it shit on by another person. When the argument gets to close to the solution I always figured that the troublemaker is always the one who tend to not understand the whole opinion to begin with.

Is it that those who don't understand are the only ones who tend to make an issue out of things?

  • trips or ashi waza is the essense of judo. least amount of effort to maximum efficincy is goal..

  • wat are the songs please

  • Thanks a lot

  • cschafer (il y a 7 mois)

    The songs are:

    Misere Mei by Sarah Brightman,

    Dont Go Away by Era,

    Divano by Era,

    Galvanize by Chemical Brothers.

  • Hello

    Congratulation, awesome video !!

Please, what's title of the song which begins at 2' 55" ?Thx

  • great vid demonsrtates to the haters hoe powerfull judo is.

  • fedor is both a samboka and a judoka...in fact sambo was created by a soviet military who had trained judo in japan for several years!! so it's very similar to say that he does judo or sambo! greetings

  • Mmmmm not exactly. yes, fedro is a judoka, and a samboka. sambo was created by Stalin. He ask for help to 3 japanese judo masters, to train a special unit of soldiers called Spetznas, and to develop a combat style tha can bend the grappling from judo, and also punches and kicks.

  • wich is also, japanese ju jitsu

  • I know Fedor did judo, but he doesn't consider himself a judoka, he considers himself a samboka.

  • Good video =D

  • Super ! Here is the Real Judo !...

  • what s the first music ?? it is so sweet!

  • awesome to watch

  • really beautifull!! i love judo

  • Man i wish i could do Judo but i can only do BJJ and MUay thai.

  • BJJ and Sambo both come from judo. Mitsuyo Maeda brought Judo to Brazil and the Gracies went from there. They called it Gracie Jiujitsu because Judo was called Kano Jiujitsu when it was first invented. And Sambo was developed by Vasili Oshchepkov who is one of the first european Judokas to have learned Judo from Jigoro Kano. So you ARE doing Judo in a way... more ne-waza, some tachi-waza, and no atemi-waza (striking).

  • 002: I like the way you broke that down!. It is so refreshing to hear a martial artist who knows history, and knows what the hell hey're talking about!

  • Thank you.

  • Can you support that assertion? It's possible pancration was absorbed by india, then from there to china, and then from there to japan, but to say that it predates any combat from those regions and is therefore the root style sounds like a stretch,

  • The last song is awful

  • nice compilation

    judo rulez the infight

  • awesome

  • 2:53 king of buttons :D.... time to push the button

  • " J U D O " ** ROCKS ** There's no way around it with " The Gentle Way "....you get: Cardio, defense, flexibility, super-balance, respect.... "Strength", Science, Momentum... you f**cking name it..... P.S Confidence!!!

  • could you guys tell me the name of the Judoka at 3:55 ?

  • akiyama yoshihiro

  • Looks like Yoshihiro Akiyama...

  • someone knows the name of the song starting at 1'25?

  • judo is better than jiu jitsu

  • does anybody here think judo is useful?

    and why?

  • yes i definitely think Judo is useful, i started doing Judo like 2 weeks ago, i consider myself a fairly decent athlete, having studied MMA for around 4 months, but decided to specialize in a grappling art....I versed a 5th dan international competitor from Japan in Randori, and i got raped....100% against my will, i was resisting 100% and trying to counter and making attacks...the Leverage in a judo throw is something that has to be felt to be appreciated..btw, he was like 90lbs lighter than me

  • Hey man I'm a police man in an unarmed service and use Judo all the time it very useful and practical for my job so I would consider it very useful. all i can say really is try it yourself and make up your own mind.

  • I know, in my country, all police officers train defense Judo, i`m training my self, 4 years now, and i can say, not just in competitions, but on the street Judo is very useful if you have experience, don`t forget everthing and mix it abit
