Chuck's style works for Chuck but I don't think its optimal. Dropping his arm so low to punch he leaves himself open and he kind of gets half the punch right, of course you should always throw a punch with your body but you shouldn't lock your arm - thats just lowering the speed of the punch when you could be using your body and arm muscles.
He apparently had a reason for keeping his arm locked in place for that particular punch ( no way would i try that for a jab lol), but i just couldn't make out the words :S, it sounded like had a scientific reason though :P

That's the worst punch technique you could ever teach a young fighter. Winding up and leaving yourself wide open while telegraphing your entire motion. Chuck has been getting KO'd in his last several fights for a reason. he moves forward and throws punches like these that leave him wide open. @theroc5851 I'm not saying it can't be used very effectively. All I was saying is that this is not what you want to teach guys who are just now learning how to fight. You need to understand the basics and fundamentals of striking before you get into these looping power punches. Now I may have been wrong in assuming these were rookies cin the vid, but I still just wanted to make a point. Kids watching this video who have no experience should learn the basics before they implement this punches.

That's the worst punch technique you could ever teach a young fighter. Winding up and leaving yourself wide open while telegraphing your entire motion. Only Chuck could have pulled that shit off and not even he can pulls this off anymore. haha. Young fighters use this video as a way to see how NOT to punch. A punch should be tight, crisp, and accurate.

@lozfalcon I'm no legend and no hall of fame fighter, but I have been boxing for seven years and doing mma for four. This punch may have worked for chuck bc he has huge power, but u should not be teaching young kids who know nothing about punching how to punch like that. I don't care if ur fighting a "southpaw" like he says it's used for, winding up and telegraphing ur punch that much is a not a good way to learn fundamentals. this is exactly what he did against Frankiln who was a southpaw.

If u have solid fundamentals in striking, these unconventional tricks are priceless. I do Krav Maga myself, and in our sparringsessions, these things are great for capturing people of guard. And as for your boxing, in bosing u r not allowed to soften ur opponent up with kicks first. If u do MMA u should know this.

@Motoruven The simple fact is that this punch leaves you wide open and if you're facing a good striker and moving forward, you can be easily countered. Chuck has been getting KO'd in his last several fights for a reason. he moves forward and throws punches like these that leave him wide open. Guys know how to strike in mma these days and are looking for any opening. This punch may have worked for chuck back in the day, bc again....he has amazing power. It wont work for most other ppl.

but keep the left arm a little higher for defense, i tried this on my friend one night, we were outside my house, i had 2 beers, i dnt get drunk just so u know...and BAM, he went to sleep, i didnt know wut to do,..so i got a bucket of cold water with freezing ice and he woke up not knowing wut happened, i nver told him haha, but he still finds the black eye mysterious...........haha poor guy, im a buy a punching bag.

you have to be careful... WARNING!! keep ur arm tight and guard ur thumbs or u will get a serious injury. But its a real technique, boxers us it to train there arms. I.e rolling the punch to maximize the impact. But its too slow for pro boxing.
