  • hey how hard is it to use wine to run steam games cause i would like to make the change to linix before Microsoft hits the toilet.

  • can linux decently run serious sam HD?

  • this is why linux sucks, if it could play games better than windows and didnt have that stupid terminal bullshit where you have to remember long complex bullshit then i'd change to linux, until then windows is FTW.

  • Guys DX is always updating, i have never seen an update about ogl, plus no matter what OS your using, they all have ogl. Plus guys look at the old games and new games, they always use ogl and dx so its not like everyone is so stubborn to one of them. Satanreborn is right, windows is meant for gaming and constant upgrades so they should stick with dx because it only makes sense to do so. Also if you really hate it and you are a "real" programmer, do something about it instead of complain.

  • ....Opengl runs on most of the recent plaforms, such as Iphone, Macs ( in general ), Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS, PSP, even Winblows Mobile runs Opengl ( LMAO ), Almost all the CG and CAD softwares in the market uses Opengl. I really regret those years that i've wasted time learning Directx! -.-

  • what are you smoking????

Windows HAS Opengl support, but via ICDs, Linux HAS official opengl driver support by Nvidia and Ati.

it seems that you've never used linux or maybe you are running linux on a VIA or SIS graphics card( that doesnt have linux support )...

  • Linux would be better for gamers than Windows since it runs faster, OpenGL is faster, and OpenGL is more up to date than DX but Microsoft likes to keep companies bound to DX with contracts. If games were programmed in OpenGL they could be ported to the other Operating Systems much more easily.

  • Games aren't for Linux

  • ...yet.

  • linux is for everything

  • linux's for everything

  • @Steven707 Linux are for freedom and opensource.

So yes it is for games! it is for all!

  • the reason that this game is not running perfect on linux its because crysis is not linux native and WINE is not perfect at translating Directx code in Opengl code.

  • the problem is that MS has contracts with the companies to produce games for windows with directshit technology ( i am a programmer and i can say that directx REALLY SUCKS )! Opengl has REAL potential, and can make better graphics for games than direcshit.

  • so why nobody dont make games for openGL ?

  • Because MS pays the companies to stick with DX

  • crysis looks better on my rig look my videos

  • I must agree, the storry is boring and gameplay too, those good gfx and nothing else. Warhead is also not better with storryline. The only game by Crytek I liked was FarCry. Think about FarCry in Crysis look = good game.

Btw: I think wine can't handle some of the (new) dx-9 commands + shaders. When I am wrong, sorry.

  • Too bad the AI sucked, but Far Cry was pretty cool being that everybody seemed to be focusing on making everything semi-realistic or tactical at the time and not some mindless shoot em up. Far Cry basically came out and said f*** that tactical/thinking stuff and instead gave you the get out and blow some sh!t up mentality.

  • Crysis is fucking garbage. Only nice graphics, no fucking story. Go play HAlf Life 2 instead.

  • Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the game either.

  • Crysis to me is a thrilling, action packed, great game play, great graphics, overall great game, but compared to Half Life... its not so good any more now is it. Valve knows what their doing.

  • I know right? half life 2 is the most amazing game I have ever played! and thsat was only the demo!

  • Also the the demo is skipping around, its not going in the same order as the full game. So even if you played the demo the full still has more to do that you didn't get to play in the demo!

  • ive played the game nd well i must agree its not as much gameplay it more like techy like graphics nd stuff

  • exactly!!!!! but if half life had graphics and a physcs engine like crysis as well as the great story it has now it would probably be the greatest game for years to come.

  • @TupacVideoz Ur pc fail ;)

  • @TupacVideoz Well at least Crysis (The 1st one at least) will always be playable for years to come due to having no Online Activation requirement like Half Life 2 has.

I usually buy only games that don't force me to connect online in order to play

  • i think that the only games that work in wine whit good gameplay are the old doom games( wad files) and doom3

  • Not true. Call of duty 1-4, GTA San Andreas, Portal, World of Warcraft and many more run great.

  • @Steven707 Make a tutorial for those games im baging you

  • I have been playing World of Warcraft in ubuntu for like 4 years till now, all of the Blizzard and Valve games run perfect.

Ah and new games like spore runs and install perfect.

  • thanks, i have spore!

  • No wonder why it's playing like crap, you're using a terrible terrible card

  • Terrible? It's not top of the line, but it's a decent card. Definitely not the card I'd recommend for playing Crysis, though

  • system specs please :) ? Subscribed 5/5

  • AMD Athlon64 X2 3600, 2GB DDR2 667 RAM, 256mb Geforce 7600GT PCI-E x16. Not quite a Crysis machine

  • why didn't you customize your mintmenu? i put my name on the button, you left Elyssa.

  • IDK, I just like Elyssa

  • Interesting. I wouldn't recomend Linux for this gaming anyways. Unless your going to use Wine. I suggest just doing a dual-boot with windows on one half and linux the other.

  • your Computer spec?
