i heard her live in 2010 and i though she was pretty damn good...and it was the first time ever hearing of the band, it was at a HIM concert, and instantly I liked her. Must mean something...normally I do not just instantly like the warm-up bands.

I like it because I can hear the guitar / bass parts! Trying to learn to play the guitar part, and this video rocks in that regard! can hardly hear the vocals :)
Also, her technique isn't helping. Tilting your head back when singing high notes puts more pressure on your vocal chords so that's why most of those high ones were well... not that great tbh...

She really sings great.... in the studio. She does not sing great live. I'ts like all she does is belt every note, and she cant hit the high notes like she did in the studio. but she still is a good studio singer. all i'm gonna say is her and Amy are both good, but Amy at the end of the day has a better set of pipes.
@DzyandDoofs generally what you can take from the fact that someone sounds good on mixed and edited tracks, but crap live then they're probably not a great singer, but then edit their voice more in the studio. I'm not saying Carly IS one of those people, but it certainly appears that way!
IMO if someone can't sing live then they can't sing. Full stop. I get that it's hard to sing when you're running around, I do it myself, so I know, but if you edit your tracks its the editors talent, not yours

But personally, I would rather sit there and listen to Simone's voice for hours than listen to Floor's for 10 minutes. I don't know why. It's the same with Tarja's too.

@BumHaven If it helps any with my videos I posted I used a thin layer of tissue over the mic (or "mic" for that matter) to help with the distortion and a program called Vegas 9 to lift the vocals up a bit.

Saw them in NYC with HIM. The guys completely overpower her. I couldn't even make out the songs until I heard them here, and they are not bad at all. I don't think she is going to be with them long. LeCompt looked completely pissed at the end of their turn, just threw his pick at the crowd and left. I really like their music though, but they either have to tone down their play or find a more powerful singer with some real pipes.
She sounds terrible....and i love her....but come on....I want to like them. But Ev and Lacuna they are not. Hopefully they will get better with time. i really want to like them. Im a HUGE HUGE Evanescence fan. But they just seem like a weaker version. The music is very similar so the comparisons will be made regardless. I have to agree with you theotheraccount3284, look at Ronnie James Dio. He is an incredible vocalist with a massive voice but he couldn't sing well when it came to singing Ozzy Era Sabbath. You just need to work with what's given to you, all in all she isn't bad and I think I like her more

Also, her technique isn't helping. Tilting your head back when singing high notes puts more pressure on your vocal chords so that's why most of those high ones were well... not that great tbh...

She really sings great.... in the studio. She does not sing great live. I'ts like all she does is belt every note, and she cant hit the high notes like she did in the studio. but she still is a good studio singer. all i'm gonna say is her and Amy are both good, but Amy at the end of the day has a better set of pipes.

@DzyandDoofs generally what you can take from the fact that someone sounds good on mixed and edited tracks, but crap live then they're probably not a great singer, but then edit their voice more in the studio. I'm not saying Carly IS one of those people, but it certainly appears that way!
IMO if someone can't sing live then they can't sing. Full stop. I get that it's hard to sing when you're running around, I do it myself, so I know, but if you edit your tracks its the editors talent, not yours

I still find it quite funny how people still comparing Carly to Amy. Or Oh, Amy's better than Carly or vise versa. Just say that theyre both good. We Are The Fallen have marked their spot. Both Evanescence and We Are The Fallen are as good. They just have different singers! So everyone just deal with the reality of whats what and whos who. Both Carly and Amy are great singers. Just give Carly a chance like you guys did with Amy Lee! Evanescence and We Are The Fallen = Great Bands and singers.

In my personal opinion, I like WATF better. I can't wait to watch them evolve and improve.
I used to think Amy was original like how she wore big dresses on stage. Then I started listening to Within Temptation, then I realized she wasn't so original. But I didn't flip shit about it. You guys need to calm your asses down and get over it.

@sweetaztecangel69 While there are more "stronger" voices, that doesn't necessarily mean better. Floor Jansen definitely has more of a range, probably a better technique, and such. But personally, I would rather sit there and listen to Simone's voice for hours than listen to Floor's for 10 minutes. I don't know why. It's the same with Tarja's too.

For the technically ignorant. Please keep in mind that all music and video shown on YouTube is heavily compressed. Videos like this are recorded with a cheap hand held video camera using a microphone not designed to deal with the volume of a live performance. The result is not representative of the actual live sound. I saw these guys in Seattle and they sounded amazing. The mix, vocals and band sounded great.

@BumHaven If it helps any with my videos I posted I used a thin layer of tissue over the mic (or "mic" for that matter) to help with the distortion and a program called Vegas 9 to lift the vocals up a bit.

Saw them in NYC with HIM. The guys completely overpower her. I couldn't even make out the songs until I heard them here, and they are not bad at all. I don't think she is going to be with them long. LeCompt looked completely pissed at the end of their turn, just threw his pick at the crowd and left. I really like their music though, but they either have to tone down their play or find a more powerful singer with some real pipes.

She sounds terrible....and i love her....but come on....I want to like them. But Ev and Lacuna they are not. Hopefully they will get better with time. i really want to like them. Im a HUGE HUGE Evanescence fan. But they just seem like a weaker version. The music is very similar so the comparisons will be made regardless. My thing is if you are gonna have the same sound and the same style, be BETTER, then no one can say shit. But they arent better. Its just the way it is

I have to agree with you theotheraccount3284, look at Ronnie James Dio. He is an incredible vocalist with a massive voice but he couldn't sing well when it came to singing Ozzy Era Sabbath. You just need to work with what's given to you, all in all she isn't bad and I think I like her more
