Out of any that bid for 2018 Russia SHOULD NOT HAVE GOT IT, I would have understood if any other got it though.

And out of any of the 2022 bids US or Australia should have got it.

A WC in Qatar and Russia will be an absolute joke, the travel alone in Russia is going to be terrible and the heat in Qatar will have such an effect on players.

What chance does an Australian bid realistically have when nearly half of the stadiums will be AFL grounds. The MCG, Subiaco Oval, Adelaide Oval (even ANZ stadium) are not great football or soccer stadiums. To have a real chance Australia would need to have all venues having rectangular fields.

But in the AFL states those grounds are the wrong shape. You can play soccer on them, but the crowd is further away from the action and the atmosphere is not as good. When Australia is bidding against other countries who will have purpose built soccer stadiums, our bid won't compare. Look at the stadiums in South Africa.

1) MCG - 101,000

2) ANZ Stadium - 85,000

3) Suncorp, Brisbane - 65,000*

i did hear that Suncorp would get redevloped to 65k, as QLD Government wanted to steal the NRL Grand Final from Sydney, and QLD government wanted a FIFA World Cup Semi Final game, and 65k capacity would no doubt get them one. I really do hope Australia get the world cup but they have a lot of work to do in terms of stadiums. FIFA dont like using different stadiums in the same city. At the moment there are only 5 stadiums capable of hosting games using fifas guidelines. SFS, Stadium Australia, Suncorp Stadium, MCG and Docklands. Perth and Adelaide will have to build soccer stadiums. Gold Coast, Canberra and Newcastle will have to try and increase the capacity of their stadiums so that it holds over 40,000.
