Fuck Web 2.0. It's a horribly coded, easy to hack mess of rounded corners and memory-straining programs with no usefulness down the line. Will Facebook get you a big name job in 10 years? from what I understand the basic underline of web 2.0 is that you no longer have a PC as such more like a workstation at home, and all your data and programs are kept on a server somewhere around the world.

The opportunity for privacy exploitation with this is huge.

The freedom of the internet is already threatened by government censorship and cyber bullying / security acts to "protect" us, this will just hasten the internet to become Glorified cable TV.

Oh, you dont need to worry about that! Web 2.0, whilst a confusing term, simply refers to the transformation of the Web from essentially being only read-only, to becoming read and write friendly, and this has already occurred. Users become the content generators, like Youtube. No users = no Youtube. Its not a new web, just an observation that got a confusing name. :)

It's not about stealing your files or getting you to put them on the web, though there are applications that you can use to help you work anywhere you are even if you don't have the software or a USB hardrive. its all about the user and making the internet more interactive.

Thanks. I think what all this new stuff boils down to is, application developers learned form gaming developer. Just as multiplayer client server games are immune to piracy as opposed to single player games, they want to make textprocessing a client server application now to prevent piracing. That's the quintessence to understanding all this I think
