Wow, isn't that genius!! But you should rest your natural nail between applications, it's a common sense thing! Leaving fake nails on for more than two weeks is absolutely absurd as the natural nail itself needs time to regenerate, and if she was feeling this soreness in the early stages, why continue to get fillings done? She should have taken a break and see a doctor..she's partly to blame for this..when the body speaks, obey it!!
this is why I hate these types of chop shops... its about the quantity and money rather than quality of the clients nails.. terrible that she had to suffer
this is why provinces/states/countries need an association of cosmetologie! We have one where I live and I am in the industry and if this was to happen (and it has) the buisness is CLOSED for GOOD! this is wrong and could of easily been prevented. I know many people who have had nails for a year without removing them (filled yes) but they've always had something on there and that would not cause the fungus. It's the salon's fault! It's from tools that were not properly cleaned.
@nailzandbeauty fyi your nails need to have air they may not breathe but they can get fungus if they dont have air woooowwwww your "smart" :DD good job
Considering the fact that this woman was repeatedly getting fills over a long period of time, it is a possibility that the fungal infection was easily harbored in her nail bed. Nails need air to breathe and need sunlight.. Vitamins.. they need to be cleaned out properly. Besides all of this, what was this woman's diet like? If she was taking medication for something, it may have killed healthy bacteria. I am not saying it is her fault at all.. but it obviously aided in fungal infection
Poor lady :( well people have to learn to stop trying to get everything so cheap! i mean geez! i offer discounts and all sorts of things in my studio to entice people away from them but nooooo! i mean im only $10 dearer then the 3 that are need me (unfortunately) but hey people will learn and ill be here to help them when they do.
As a qualified nail tech, let me tell you out there who want to get your nails done . . . NEVER BE AFRAID TO ASK . . . ask to see them santise the buffers . . . ask the nail tech to open a new buffer . . . ask them what their qualification is . . . ask them what their follow-up is. I have no problems whatsoever doing and explaining these things for my customers. I've had acrylic nails for almost 11 years, and although my natural nails aren't strong (if I remove my acrylic), they are healthy!
I new a lady who wore acrylics for more than 10 years at end... This never happened to her (maybe this person didnt clean her hands like she was supposed too)?! idk
The video makes it sound like she had acrylics on for 6 months or more......here is a fabulous idea. DONT KEEP THAT FAKE SHIT ON YOUR FINGERS FOR SO LONG. When they started getting tender and sore and red..........why would she keep getting them filled? I think its half her fault.
My last pedicure was in a U.S. salon and I got cellulitis infection in my toe. I had to get a strong antibiotic to quelll the infection and the doctor wanted to know where I had it done to report a complaint to the board of health etc. Did the salon look dirty? No. But the nail tech evidently did not properly disinfect the pedicure basin. They had the latest equipment and I think they were too cheap to distinfect the filter properly. Never again.
that's too bad, but a glimpse into the world of nss. sanitation is soooo important. however, i'm not quite sure how this lady did not notice a change in her nails
It is sad that this happened however you feel yourself. You feel if something is wrong with your body. You can see through the gel if you got an infection. I had one nail infected, I saw it and took action, I think this is the blonde lady's fault!!
good god!!! I use BRAND NEW EVERYTHING when I go....nails,files...etc. all NEW and UNOPENED!!! It costs a little more, but hey: getting and keeping up on nails is not cheap. If you want cheap, use press-on nails, ladies!
we have the same situation in market where i live. vietnamese woman jumps from one client hands to another feet toes, from her to other hands and after to other face to do eyebrows. i was horryfied how people can come back and how they don't notice. aparantely they do notice that, but can't be bothered. her acrylic nails hold till they grow completely back. she does nail set in 15-20 min. quality is ok, but not perfect compare with price she charges.
sad that women today want convenience over quality... when i tell potential clients i charge $50 a full set they frea out...u get wat u pay for ladies...
glad u have spread some light on this Deborah..hopefully soon some governing bodies will get invovled with the nail industry...
I've been to those places a few times coz it's convenient but haven't been in for a long time coz i know how unhygentic they are they don't sanitise any thing or wash their hands and when those use those drills they dont' know how to use them correctly so i bleed and they didn't even wash the drill bit!! GRoss!
dis happend to me..but it wasn as servirly ihad my nails donein a 3rd wrld county wrong idea.. i came bak tothe U.S and like my finger *ring finger* was swollen and the nail like had a kinda like hole but twas like somethin was diggin a my skin not mynail my ring finger nail til dis day doesnt grow normal... :( but im glad it as only like alil bitt i feel bad for her.. :(
We all want instant gratification and for cheap. Fast Fast Find out from your Department of Licensing what laws are required for Manicurist to follow. Don't understand Technician? LEAVE! There are many upstanding Nail spa's available Make an appointment. ask what they are using, what disinfecting What product and why. You have a right to know.
See the deep gouges in her nails? That can create an opportunity for fungus from any environment to enter the nailbed...People can get fungus without nail services (I worked in back office medical), particularly if they are in water a lot or live in a humid climate... it is more lilely when the bodies natural seal has been broken, a lifted or broke nail. Fungus, like bacteria, is everywhere... getting it in the nail bed is the problem, by introduction or by creating the perfect opportunity.
I feel bad, that Deborah girl is very beautiful it's such a shame that she has to deal with all that and what pisses me off is that lady from the salon not cooperating.
people need to ask about sanitation....good salons will not only show you how they do it and with what, they will often do it in front of you....they should always use new files or some keep zip bags with the items used only on you and are cleaned after every use....another rule of thumb.....if they come at your natural nail with a drill file....RUN..these are the places to stay away from..the 2 things you learn most in school...clean & sanitize everything..and perfect care of the real nail
Yes, actually you should bring your own items if you don't see the tech sanitizing their area between client's, washing their own hands & using fresh sanitized items & equipment, also asking the client they are about to work on to either go wash their hands with soap & water or use a liquid hand sanitizer at their work station! I would be running not walking from that place as fast as I could!
In most US States even this practice is illegal. I don't know if your implements are disinfected properly and I would be held liable if you got an infection from your own tools. Also client boxes are illegal in some states as they are a perfect breeding ground for bacteria if they are plastic.
The salon I use, has a little clear box with nail clippers, files, and what ever supples she need to use on my nails in it. I paid 15.00 extra for the little kit but its good because everytime I come in to get my nails done she pulls it out and uses it. I think most salons do this if clients ask.
Do you sanitize your tools properly at home? Are they good quality tools? We have policies for sanitizing to insure safety and we could not assume your tools are sanitized. And, infection can be caused other ways (spa pedi tubs are the worst). Her fungus was either introduced under her nail (not part of acrylic procedure) or more likely damage caused by her fills (see the gouges in her nails) caused her nails to life and she developed fungus. The ultimate cost of a cheap fill.
If this ever happen to my nails I don't know what I would do... Lucky for me I'm very picky about where I go to do my nails and who does them! Though I'm asian my self, I honestly dont trust going into a asian nail salon to get my nails done. I've listened to these ladies talk. They go a half ass job clear the chair and get the next person in. tsk tsk pitty this happened to her...
i went to a nail salon and i had my acrylics done and i felt a throbbing pain for 3 days. when i took them off 2 weeks later, my nails were thinner than paper
As stated on national television I tried to aproach the manager of the service and my concerns were ignored. I informed Kim Phan I would contact the media and a solicitor if the service continued to ignore my complaint.
this is caused by poor salon hygiene and cheap mma products.

Nails do not have lungs to breath.
The main cause of this womans problem is improperly applied nails, plain and simple.
When "fake" nails are applied correctly, they do not lift or break, and the natural nail is properly cleaned and disinfected before application.
Wearing nails can PROTECT your nails, not HARM them.
The damage done from wearing acrylic? Blame the tech. And do your homework before you choose a nail tech in the first place. :)

I agree with InfiniteRosa... Nails need some time off for themself to breath... It might be her who didn't take care of her own nails... Kinda scary

That is horrifying and so sad : ( It makes me endlessly frustrated when people want discount nails and something like this happens.
1) Our products and training, and sanitization supplies cost money!
2) If we skips steps, this is what can happen!
