Rob Thomas is so much better. He sounds exactly the same live and on his records. He is so great. He is hotter than Chris. (no offense but Rob Thomas actually has hair. No Offense.)
hmm..long ago i always confused the two because their vocals to me are nearly alike.. and i have an album of rob's and 2 of daughtry's. I'm going with Daughtry because th music helping me get thru my teen years and making me stronger, the song that's helped me the most is What I Meant To Say. whereas rob's music weakens me some, like Her Diamonds. But u must admit, This Is How a Heart Breaks has some kickass energy :D

I will always say Rob Thomas is the best... Other than the fact that there are many more Rob Thomas fans everyone is either Daughtry wins by a bajillion and a half or Rob Thomas is sooo much better. Half of Daughtry's songs aren't written completely by him. Not to knock his voice cuz it's amazing. Rob Thomas is soo much deeper into the industry. I mean he sounded great even when he was just a pup with Tabitha's Secret. Can't argue with his success. the end

i think for a fair comparison you'd have to take performances from the same show since all shows vary in sound quality. they both have great voices although daughtry went off key several times. daughtry's song jumped around more so maybe that's why. all in all i much prefer rob thomas to daughtry. i think a better comparison would be daughtry and david cook or rob thomas and train or lifehouse.

Rob Thomas writes most of his material, & for other bands too, I dk about Daughtry. RT is a great entertainer who shares his ♥ so well he gets your heart feeling what he is singing especially when live. D has a great new voice but seem to run out of breath alot. I didn't see him even feel it till the end.

I watched and listened to Rob Thomas' Live Performance at the 2010 Taste of Chicago. It was really great. I like Daughtry too but you're comparing a veteran to a rookie. I vote RT.
@GoofyBeats i agree. both daughtry and rob thomas are great and rob thomas is better. but comparing a band that has recently just started in the music business to someone whos been in the music business for a while isnt a really good comparison.
they both good with their bands...but Rob is such an amazing song writer that whether its with his band or solo career now...just awesome music..i give the edge to rob cause hes proved he can do it solo as well with mb20..he is more established give chris some time but i doubt he will do as much as rob has...they should work more together!!
I've always ask myself this question. Rob Thomas I grow up with from Matchbox 20 but Daughtry has one of the most amazing voice ever that still rock and professional at the same time but rob has one of my favorite voice period is truly a toss up

just saw both of them in concert in December - both totally different and uncomparable - different styles and voices - both awesome on their own right

@Jbonjovirocks I've seen daughty live and to be honest it wasn't super fantastic. I saw a concert of Rob Thomas live at Red Rock on tv and it was an amazing concert. Him and his band put on one hell of a show.

To be honest, I'm not a big fan of No Surprise. And Chris seems to struggle a bit in this live performance. There's got to be a better live version out there.
