The problem is that the French took great advantage of the Algerian illiteracy rate and most documentation and accounts of what happened during the Algerian revolution are written by biased French colonization sympathizers and translated to other western languages. I too have family members who witnessed first hand terror tactics inflicted upon the Algerians. The French have a history of criminal acts and the harkis are their poodles.
