that is a way of undermining the other side's confidence in his argument (and gets him to question his knowledge). it might be good to win an argument by hindering his ability to refute your arguments, but if your arguments lack actual facts, then you could be damaging your credibility.

English is nothing but an ambiguous language. 99.99% of English speakers don't even know how to speak it correctly. Case and point, kaadauwgg doesnt know what a conjunction is and chances are he doesn't know what a contraction is either. I wouldn't debate with people who claim English is great because they don't know anything about it, if they do, they wouldn't claim such a thing.

Oh, and the Latin part may be incredibly risky here, unless you speak to someone studying engineering or computer science most people have so much of a notion of Latin to notice made-up phrases.
