    Greetings from Germany;

    Mens sana, in Campari Soda!

  • oh gosh, this video just made me crack up laughing! i'm studying for a debate tomorrow...thanx for the tips lol

  • nice vid..i'm actually team captain of our debate team.. ^_^

  • @mia16centeno1 now we know where the captain got his debating skills :-)

  • "It seems like sometimes, the consequences matter". I could still mount an argument agains that, but I doubt I'd convince many.

    Good video.

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!

I'm at the debate nationals right now, and this video made me crack up! I wish that debate could really be like this :). I'm super sick of debating topicality or kritiks or impact calculus. it seems like we never do case debate this year :(..... its always politics DAs, spending DAs, and T

Next year will be fun though! War.....

  • You have two ears but one tongue, so listen twice as much as you speak,

for unless you admit that ignorance is not bliss, but merely ignorance, then you are claiming that our posturings, our imagined self-importance, is not some delusion that we have a privileged position in the universe.

    Debate is over.

  • jajajaja this is really funny!... so true

  • this is shit.

    you're talking crap.

  • ha this is good.

  • HELPFUL!

  • youre sweet. nice video.

  • Thats Good!!!!!

  • good stuff!

  • this is hilarious man...some of it would really work though thats what makes it so funny. clever

  • that is a way of undermining the other side's confidence in his argument (and gets him to question his knowledge). it might be good to win an argument by hindering his ability to refute your arguments, but if your arguments lack actual facts, then you could be damaging your credibility.

  • Thanks for putting this vid up but I dont debate its not wise, however we must be prepared to help people see the truth. I just downloaded this.

  • please tell me why you think that debating is not wise?

  • The only way to win a debate is just not to debate. Debating is for losers. Well, debating is SOMETIMES for losers and its mostly ad nauseam material noone actually cares about anyway.

  • DES VERITASES AOS DUACESS! XD

  • Srcew Latin,it was never used better than when it was spun into English.til then it just sat there.ex.spanish .El caro asul.the car blue.WHERE'S THE CONJUNCTION?eNGLISH IS THE GREATEST and something means nothing til Americans incorporate into existence. When you met someone like me & try to sound smart w/ your Latin words, especially the big ones,I know it's just a short while before I cuss 'em out & if your're persistent in proving to be the smarter u might have to whup me too.Now that's debate.

  • Hey, I think you were speaking off you ass.

    * Where would you put a conjunction in the phrase "El carro azul" or "The blue car." ? Do you even know what a conjunction is?

    * Apparently you know nothing about Spanish literature, specially from the Golden Century ONWARDS. What about the language of so many new world countries? Spanish just did not sat there.

    * Why is English the greatest? It would still be nothing had it not been for the force and economic empire of the US to the world.

    Facts?

  • English is nothing but an ambiguous language. 99.99% of English speakers don't even know how to speak it correctly. Case and point, kaadauwgg doesnt know what a conjunction is and chances are he doesn't know what a contraction is either. I wouldn't debate with people who claim English is great because they don't know anything about it, if they do, they wouldn't claim such a thing.

  • MONIEQUA

    > people who claim [that] ___ is great don't know anything about it

    > [because] if they do, they wouldn't claim such a thing

You're right about English speakers and their knowledge of the language--there's one who is unable to construct a coherent argument.

  • @gagothesith oh wow, I guess I can't construct a coherent argument because I skipped a few words. I'm sorry, how dare I speaking the truth about English. It's the most perfect and sophisticated language. Oh put an S is but not there, this one is silent over here but not there and this "i" is long over here not there and oh how about this, the past tense of read is read but we pronounce it as "red" and dream is dream but pronounce as "drem" how stupid is that.

  • @moniequa Didn't you mean the past tense of dream is dreamed or dreamt?

  • @katmeredith, well don't ask me I'm not an English expert. Remember I was the first one to claim that English is convoluted and confusing.

  • @moniequa According to what, your statistics? And why is English ambiguous?

If English is an ambiguous language, what else did you mean when you said, "English is an ambiguous language? Or, does that sentence have some other meaning? Thanks, this it was a pleasure communicating with you on this lovely, quiet, soft, and metaphysical; rapturous, not loud, delicate and spiritual night.

  • @unfathomableinquiry, without looking on line, can you tell how many tenses we have in English? Without looking on line, can you define past perfect tense or past conditional tense?

  • @moniequa On one hand, you have no chance at winning here - this is an argument not a negotiation! On the other hand, I actually have reputable credentials, so please, don't test my linguistic skills.

  • @unfathomableinquiry, I think I just won the argument because you couldn't answer my questions. It's okay if you don't know English grammar, I simply want to point out that English grammar is ambiguous and convoluted even for people who claim to be English experts. Your silence only confirmed my opinion that you are one of those who don't know grammar.

  • that was a good watch... i gotta go start a debate with someone quick.

  • ...sophistry... casuistry.. Anyway, you have the makings of a good lawyer! Keep it up!

  • Hah! Starting law school this August! Thanks for the comment!

  • The semantics one is used often--it won't necessarily help you win all the time, but it can be a good strawman...;)

  • Oh brilliant!! I love your little tips, they may come in handy in debates, even though most of it is exaggerated!

I will definitely be using that latin trick in a debate I have at Princeton next week too.

  • These aren't tips, this man is taking the piss.

  • LOL! This is funny. Great Vid!

  • Wow, Scott, over 1,000 views. That's impressive, or, I should say, magnumus impressivus maximus.

    I miss Oxford,

    Travis Lambert

  • Hey Travis, thanks for the comment! Nice use of Latin! ;)

PS - I miss Oxford too.

  • he remindes me of the kid from malcom in the middle

  • Interesting video~

  • Hah, I like this.

  • No need to hate on Oxford. Did they deny you?

  • You're cute and funny!!

  • i took latin in junior high...all i remember is puella es parva..the girl is small..lol

  • A good guide. I love smart ass debaters almost as much as an intelligent audience.

  • With debates like this with all parties firmly denying their general ignorance, have you ever gotton to a conclusion? Oh, and the Latin part may be incredibly risky here, unless you speak to someone studying engineering or computer science most people have so much of a notion of Latin to notice made-up phrases.
