I'm not a real fan of the Magnaflow muffler on a V6. It's too quiet or too raspy for my taste. I went with Insynerator mufflers on my '07 Sonata GLS with the 3.3L V6 and they turned out pretty good for me. I like the way this system was put together on your Intrepid but the price is a little high. Other than my minor nit picking I have to give this a "like". Good job!
i'm sorry but $700 thats way to much, i got my exhaust done the same way not using the same muffler though, and i payed about 350 and my shit sounds a whole lot better than that one
I was wondering, how much clearance does a 98 3.2L intrepid have between the engine and hood? The reason i ask is cuz i'm looking at buying one. I can tell from the pictures it has a dented hood (nothing major just looks like something was dropped on it). But with my other (92) intrepid, the intake manifold is RIGHT under the hood. And any hood damage, could result in upper intake plenum damage too. This car is a ways away from me, should i even take the time to look at it?
i know the flowmaster 80 serise has single on oneside and dule on bothe the same opposit side i like that this muffler has the dule outs without the extra bend cause theres a outlett on both right and left side WITCH MUFFLER IS THIS I WANT TO BUY ONE its got a nice sound i have ADodge intrepid se 2.7 DOHC havent thought of taking my Resonator off to replace with a Y pipe but what would it sound lke left on apposed of taking off Thanks
Im trying to put a dual exhaust on My 1994 Dodge Intrepid 3.3 Liter, but everyone says it isnt possible because it wont pass smog is this true, what can do??
Watching this video is very interesting... I plan on buying another Intrepid (mine was stolen) but it had a dying 2.7L so now I'll get one with a 3.2L or 3.5 HO
@Diadematov i agree 100% the rims are atrocious and only a black guy would do that...make a beautiful car look like shit with those rims...gimme a break. i'd never do that to my intrepid. might do the exhaust...not as loud, but i'd get the kind of system that allows one to hear the power of the engine...nothing obnoxiously loud.
mrosenow1 --IS CORRECT THAT WAS A RESONATOR that you REPLACED with the Y pipe I have the 2002 SE ALL INTREPIDS Pretty much come with the same set up 2 CATS Resonator pipe then goes back a Pre muffler witch is Usles then a elbo to a another muffler
The cats on this car are attached right at the exhaust manifolds up near the motor. There was a resonator right where we put the y pipe.....MORON. I would be glad to show it to you, it is probably laying back in the scrap iron pile behind the shop yet. But then you probably can't tell the difference between a converter and a muffler. So before you start tossing names out there & trying to show off your vast knowledge of automobiles, know what your talking about.....moron!
its behind the timing belt cover, and its driven by the timing belt. if you don't know what ur doin i get someone who does cuz if you screw up ur timing belt then you'll have to find someone that knows what they are doing anyway. its not like a simple water pump on a pushrod engine.
Sounds good. Magnaflow really sounds good on these motors. Even better going down the road when the rev limiter isn't holding it back. Assuming you have an intake on it already?
I was going to install a similar set up on my RT, but for some reason I opted for a single straight pipe from the cat. back. It actually sounds pretty good. For $ 200 bucks I think it was worth it. I'll have to post a clip. It may be a bit too loud though, but everybody I know thinks it sounds sick. The 2000 version puts out 242 HP, and 248 ft/lbs torque. I probably have added to these numbers a bit with the help of a K&N intake, and modded exhaust.
i like the sound but i cant wait to get mine done i have a 99 Dodge Intrepid that im putting in a 318 V8 and making it rear wheel drive with 2 inch exhaust ill get some vids on soon
I have an '04 SXT with the same 3.5 HO. I wanted to put some sort of dual exhaust on it. I'm not sure how much more expensive it would be to do this setup with one muffler or to just go dual straight back pipes. How much harder/more expensive would it be?
That thing sounds mean my friend. How much horses does it have if u dont mind me asking and where the hell can i find one of those for cheap? I live in ohio btw
I am not sure if this car has been modified any, but I do know that most Dodge Intrepids with the 3.5L engine get 234 horses, and if I'm not mistaken torque is about 241 or so. And find one for cheap? I'm sadly stuck in South Carolina so I'm not sure where to find one in Ohio (where I'd rather live, honestly).
@sideburns2009 This one probably had a little more than 250 hp because it was a police interceptor. They always put performance parts in their engines, suspension, etc. I'd rather get a Police Interceptor Intrepid than an SXT.
@artace1987 Only difference in SXT and Police interceptor, aside from strobes, interior mods, etc was plastic front-end intake vents that routed air onto the rotors for additional cooling and stopping power and heavy duty cooling systems and transmission/engine oil coolers. It's still the 250 HP H.O. 3.5 beast as the SXT.
@artace1987 agreed. although, i am completely satisfied with my 2.7l. i've had it up to 125-130mph without a problem. i did go for the heavier duty suspension as I was blowing struts every other week, literally. going the speed limit of 30-45mph then, all of a sudden, hit huge potholes...town wouldn't fix the holes or my car. potholes weakened the struts tremendously and repeatedly taking exit ramps off highways at 75mph didn't do the suspension system or my rack and pinion any good either.
@mikeyhh1488 What year is it? I have a '99 and from what I've heard the 2.7l comes with a governor that limits the car to 117mph, which I personally verified on my own.
@drummerboy1692 mine is a 2000. there is (was) a governor in mine, it just has a higher max speed. i never took it out or had anyone else take it out. bought it new from the dealer in 2000. had a limit of 122 the first few months. after about a year and from then on the car could just go 130. i'm not gonna argue with a good thing. lol.
@drummerboy1692 yup. watch, now that i mentioned it the car will no longer be able to reach that speed. lol. oh yeah...unimportant thing but something i would like to address: my locks used to engage at around 25mph. now i have to manually hit the button. any clue as to what can be causing this or how to fix it? my gear indicator on my dash board also indicates the wrong transmission gear or says i am in every gear. i can be in drive and it will highlight neutral, nothing, or everything. ideas?
@mikeyhh1488 Well I can almost guarantee that the way to fix both concerns is to have a wiring diagram and some good electrical testing equipment. Electrical concerns like this could be in various places, depending on how the circuit is wired, and is best left to a technician to diagnose. Sorry I can't be more help.
@drummerboy1692 I think I figured out the indicator problem-some bad splicing under my dash. as for the locks, i don't really care. it's probably the same problem. I had a monitoring system installed so I get paged and notified of everything the car does (lock/unlock, open door/trunk/hood, engine start, alarm triggered, etc). thanks anyway though. i'm taking it to the shop on wednesday for brakes and some re-painting so i might have my guy look at that too. no big deal. it's still drivable.
@mikeyhh1488 It's likely to be the cause. I've seen quite a few vehicles come in because of after-market changes where wiring mistakes were made. As for the auto-locking doors, it's sort of like my auto drivers side window. Only works when I flick the switch the right way, but who cares? Just have to try a couple times lol. My auto instructor in college told me some good advice. Never buy a technician's car, but definitely buy a technician's wife's car. :)
Maybe a junk system in al. steel pipe...which I do much less expensive. A full stainless dual exhaust is $400-500 worth of raw materials, without any markup, and will take a solid half a day if not more to do. There is no way you can sell a FULL stainless system, CUSTOM bent, for that price, your full of crap. Well, maybe if you work for FREE, but I have bills to pay...and my labor rate is reasonable. If your so good, then let's see your videos.
700 bucks!! you got ripped my freind! I work at a local muffler shop part time ,and even stainless split fake ass duals do not cost THAT much to put on.Somebody is making a good profit for little work.
