Thanks so much for sharing this! I can't recall the exact station we picked this up on, as I'm in northern PA, but something tells me it aired on an ABC station out of Elmira/Corning...fantastic spooky memories!!!
We in northern PA watched it on WETM, our NBC affiliate from Elmira. We got a lot of WSTM Syracuse local programming, as the two stations were owned by the same company. We saw WSTM news at noon(Charlie Hobart with weather), Saturday Morning Showboat(Charlie Hobart as Salty Sam), and the STM Club(featuring Mrs. Brundage, Dennis, and Chester Drawers).
In late 70's and early 80's all the factories where closing in our area. My Mom worked at A&P processing plant which was the largest in the world at the time. They got bought out and shut the place completely down. Move out of state or welfare at the time.
Thanks again for these great videos. Showed my Cousin who grew up in Corning, New York and now lives in North Carolina.
Thanks, I'm glad that you enjoy the post. I'm originally from Utica, NY currenly making my home in buffalo, NY. The video came from Alan Miliar who played Dr, Witty via a collected friend who purchased the entire MMM set from him. It is one of the last surving intact videos of MMM. How did you end up in jersey?
does this friend still have contact with Alan... assuming we haven't lost him. Did Rocky Horror with him for Chris Lightcap's Talent Company. Alan was a great guy.
I'm also from Utica; UFA class of 77. Used to love this show. Dr. Witty gaves me creaps when I was little. Doesn't his laugh sound like the one from the of the first Predator movie?
Please, more.
This brings back the most frightening of memories.
Having two older brothers who took much delight in reducing me to screams didn't help things, either...

Is there a surviving copy of the Heavy orchestral theme that used to play at the beginning of each feature lead in?

Is it this heavy tripartite thing that went something like...
Duhhhh Duhhhhhh DUHHH!!
Duhhhh Duhhhhhh DUHHHHHHH!!!
Duhhhh Duhhhhhh DUHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
Duhhhh Duhhhhhh DUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
that went up the musical scale?
If it is, then I believe the theme you're thinking of came from the movie "This Island Earth".
