  • Do you have another channel or do you only have four videos?

  • @schears1 Ha! I do have another channel, but it's for my acting/talent career, no hair tutorial stuff there.

  • love your tips im gonna go try then out now!

  • heat-no matter how much-will damage your hair.

  • @jackalo34 Avoid the sun, and its healing light, at all costs.

  • Ur right. This IS genius. Thanxso much!!!

    ... I will DEF try!!

  • @dirtibubblz HaHa! Thank YOU!

  • I love your videos. I been thinking about going natural for mmm like a week now. I don't know why just been praying to God to help me with my hair and for some reason going natural keep popping in my head...but when I see your flat iron looks it give me hope to go for it lol anyway love the hair and thanks.

  • @juicyLP You're welcome! I hope you find what you're looking for. Good luck & God bless!

  • will your hair curl back up if you wash it? nevermind i see it curled!

  • UPDATEEEEE UPDATEEE

  • Oh wow ur hair looks so good on this video^^

  • nice hair, how often did you flat iron?

  • i used your tips and my hair turned out perfect and straight.. thanks

  • @ilovetriggertrae Get it! ;)

  • i wanna see you ur hair now!!!

  • hey hey where are you this video was done in 2009 can we get an update??? are you still straighting your hair ??? if so how often?? new pics ?? please??? would love to see your progress... GOD BLESS!!!

  • @Predestine4Heaven I'm still straightening. I've started wearing it natural alot more this yr tho, but I'm still flat ironing about 90% of the time.

  • how long did it take you to grow out your relaxed hair in to this?

  • Your hair looks really healthy and very pretty...thanks for the video

  • you should try instyler not iron at all only ceramic rotatin comb

  • @ilovemarkmakeup909 I'm sorry, I'm confus, did you actually watch my video? And the instyler is NOT ceramic.

  • Great video! I recently decided to go natural. I am 4 weeks post relaxer. Did you always flat iron through the transition phase and also, how often do you flat iron?

  • thank you soooooooooooooooooo much for teaching us. I just recently cut off like 1.5 inches of hair because I could not get my ends straight but now thanks to YOU and your genious tips of using the brush AND a hot curling iron, I got the results I so wanted and thanks for your tips on using the serums as well. you ROCK!!!!!

  • thank so much!! i've been transitioning for 1 year and straightening my hair so i dnt look crazy! i watch this vid 3 months ago and it helped so much thanks :)

  • @bbnne1 I've tried a similar method. I don't use her exact ingredients, but I do what I can, and I do it EVERYTIME I wash. My hair is fab, and the deep conditioning has protected my hair, I think. Sorry, update to come...

  • You're hair may not be getting damaged so to speak, but do you notice a loosening of the curl patter after using higher heat frequently? (the section you washed seemed less kinky than the washed hair in the other video.)

  • @hellothrify1 That's because in the previous video I had actually just washed my hair, in this video I simply wet a section to share my blow-dry process. Less water saturation and less saturation time gives me the cutsey looser curls that I have in this vid.

  • that iron is so cute, i looove pink stuff!!!

  • hi! just wondering -how often do you straighten your hair and also, have you come across any severe heat damage? I'm natural and I want to start flat ironing more often.I'm a little worried about damaging my curls. Thanks!!

  • @jazzidarlyn No damage. I straighten more than 98% of the time, I'd say. It doesn't mean that your hair will do the same tho! Black hair is SO complex and we are all SO different, obviously :), so ya never know. My response probably doesn't help you too much, but I hope it helps you find what YOU want. :)

  • Have you ever thought about wearing your hair curly, but using the Kinky Curly Curling Custard to define the curls? I have the same "problem" you do with tighter curls in the back, and it's extremely helpful, especially because I get so impatient flat ironing. :)

  • @kjahnae yeah, i have some. Not a super fan because my hair is still too short for my liking in its curly state, and the KCCC only makes the curls even tighter and shorter. When my hair is pass my shoulders curly, I'm sure I'll love it!

  • Do you recommend this flat iron?

  • This method definitely works! I got my herstyler, serum, & my blow dryer / flat iron methods down pact now thanks to you >>>I can go from rockin my natural hair to a relaxed look so easily now. ThAnks SOOOO much for posting this.

  • @fambamkam Comments like yours always make my eyes water! My only purpose for making my vids was to get this effect by simply helping ppl to help themselves. Thank YOU.

  • Nice :)

  • OMG thANKx for sharing!! :P

  • Interested in seeing your hair today. How often do yo flat iron. thanks for the vid!!

  • @TrueCityGirl I've warn my natural texture maybe 3 or 4 times this yr, so I flat iron about 98% of the time. I'm heat damage free. All heat is NOT created equal. Vid coming soon.

  • @SuperHotChocolate Awesome. Can't wait to see it!

  • thats alot of heat um alot of heat in your hair can actually lead to hair damage

  • @cherieglam Alot of bad heat and ignorance can lead to heat damage, yes. Good heat and knowledge=power, and no damage.

  • Wow, your hair turned out nice.I had the same issue with my ends when using a flat iron. Thanks for the tips and suggestions!!

  • my ur vids r the best!! u rly helped me

    !

  • oh my goodness, im so glad i came across your video, i dont know why i didnt think of that before. i have a round brush and that same pink herstyler, it does get really hot. so i opted for one that uses less heat to straighten. however i may return to it next time i straighten my hair after watching this. Thanks for sharing.

  • do you find that you get alot of spit ends by brushing/straightening your ends that way?

  • @bbnne1 welcome :)

  • Thank you for posting this vid. I tried going natural before and gave up since I were not getting the results I wanted. However this video gives me hope. I'm definately going for it again.

  • How in the SAM HELL did you figure that thing out with the brush and the ends!! Bravo!!! That's what I need, dammmnnn, you goo guuuurrrrlll!!!!!

  • @Kaylasober Haha! I don't even know. I think I was recalling the way I've seen the pros use small tooth combs, so I figured a brush might be even better, and gave it a try! :)

  • oh my god.. it works!! wooooooo I think i used a little too much serum.. buuuut my hair is FLOWING and my ends look greeeat!! Thank you so much!!

  • @ahava77 You're so welcome! Comments like yours make it so worth it!

  • thanks for your vids.. I'm gonna try this today!! :)

  • @ahava77 you're welcome! :)

  • Did your curls change after you used the hotter iron? I've heard of intense heat destroying natural hair to the point that it won't curl even after a wash. I just want to know your experience.

  • @Ryushai Nope. No damage. Do some research on 100% Ceramic/Tourmaline irons. All irons are NOT created equal. 410 degrees from the wrong iron might destroy your curl, while 410 from the right iron wont change your hair at all.

  • I loved your video! I have been transitioning since summer 09 so my hair is almost all natural. I would like 2 wear my hair straight but it so hard to find products 2 help my hair get st8 without weighing it down. I will try the serums u used n the video. I also have a Chi flat iron but It seems like my hair is flat & dried out after I use it..(the Chi it gets super hot!!) So I don't use it to often. I will post my results after I try the serum, flat iron & your chase method. I'm excited!!!!

  • i <3 yur hair, very prettyful

  • @msbritbrat92 very kind. thank you!

  • what an awesome trick! will be trying this whn i straighten my hair for hubbys birthday

  • @MzLewisBeauty Hope you two enjoy ;)

  • titanium flat irons are also good

  • I had heat damage and my hair at the front actually fell out! :O I had used the flat iron twice in 4 days at Christmas and that was the result.(i got rid of the iron after was so upset)

I must say i did straighten my hair too much i and did not know how to properly care for my hair. Heat damage is real.

To repair the damage i did regular deep treatments+limited the use of it to 2x a month. I am now transitioning so enjoying my new growth now so when i do straighten it i will be careful.

  • @brazzgal Can you please include info on the type of iron you used so that others dont make the same mistake you did and assume that all irons cause heat damage. All irons are not created equal, AT ALL.

  • @SuperHotChocolate

The iron i used was a Remington. I looked for the model but it is no longer sold. I agree that all irons are NOT created equal and it is up to the user to use it in moderation and to be careful. The key is knowing what your hair likes and i guess at the time i wasn't listening! All heat isn't bad, having good quality products makes the difference.

  • Great video i never knew natural hair could look so straight!I am currently transtioning (7 months-post) and waiting for a bit more length before going wearing it straight!

  • I just got a herstyler aswell! I bout a purple one from the colourful seasons collection and I really like it! Thanks for this video it helped me a lot.

  • @abesykagdfu Such a great product!

  • Did you get your iron from the mall? You know, the booths in the aisles. I went to the mall yesterday (Friday) and the seller tried it on me and was saying, "See how smooth & straight it is?" I hadn't flat ironed my hair in 1 month + I'm ~2 years natural so I couldn't see it. Someone had to point out that he only passed it through once & got it straight vs 2-3 times. I didn't buy it. I went home to try w/ mine & was not happy. I look like a lion and it's not even straight or smooth!

  • @ibogirl04 I ordered mine online. With shipping, it cost me about 36 bucks.

  • @ibogirl04 Nope. Found it online for less than 36 bucks w/ shipping.

  • Do you ever wear your natural curls? Do you flat iron your hair weekly after your weekly wash? Will you do an update on your hair growth? Do you have heat damage?

  • @marsimone1 less than 5% of the time. Its still too short, for me, in its natural state. Will do an update sooner or later. No heat damage.

  • yes! i am co-signing big time on this one! i'm so glad i'm not the only one to realize that kinky curly knot today and biosilk are like magic in a bottle! kinky curly products are great bc the ingredients are all natural (i use the shampoo too). seriously, these are the only 2 products that you need if you're natural and you want the relaxed look. your hair will be so light and fluffy and not weighed down by other "junk". i also sometimes use a smidge of coconut oil after flat ironing.

  • @abright1015 HAHAHA! I ALSO use a "smidge of coconut oil" (or olive oil) after flat ironing to fight the humidity! We've got to keep spreading the word on these basic products!! :)

  • You got me all excited next time I straighten my hair. Thanks for the tip!

  • your the best ...i was going to give up and get it relaxed.. but you saved me

    ..thank you so much gurl.

  • @keyonathomas00 Never give up, never surrender! :)

  • hey just wanted to say i love your natural hair look. i have a question i flat ironed a small section off my hair and i washed it the next day after and it still not returning to its natural state. what do u recommend that i should do?

  • @Kekegansta Only use the best tools when straightening. Do your research on 100% Solid Ceramic and/or Tourmaline irons.

  • What's the make of your blow dryer?

  • So are you using the new product kinky curly instead of the other two or in combination with the ones from the first video???

  • i have really course hair and can i use this flat iorn with out heat damage to my hair....you know when i wash it i still want my hair back and not have it altered b/c of this iorn...i want my curl pattern back basically. I seen this one girl use it on her natural hair and when she washed it....her original curl pattern didn't return...

  • can you do an updat of your length soon

  • GREAT TIP!! I'm gonna try it asap!! Thanx girl!!

  • Great video. Thanks for the update.

  • not as pretty as you are when the hair is washed but will take some pics this weekend(maybe) and emailed them to you lol...thanks again!

  • Thanks for the video! I saw other people do this but thought it was a waste of energy. I now see what a big difference it makes. Love your videos!!

  • i'm yet another person who wants to say THANK YOU for your videos! I have yet to perm my hair and for years, some of my friends have been trying to talk me into it. And I've come close to getting it relaxed so I can look more "grown and professional". But im so grateful of what u shared and how I can get that relaxed look and tame my bad ends w/o dangerous chemicals!

  • @AfroChic134 You're welcome! It saddens me tho that your friends aren't supportive of your natural hair. Correction, its not about 'supporting' but more about 'accepting' you as you are and not trying to change you. I dunno.... And why would natural hair not be considered "grown and professional"? Ah well. I guess they'll be eating their words when you get a look straighter than theirs, chemical free, showing them the power of natural hair! ;)

  • my hair looks great! thanks for the vid!!

  • @msyata1 Yae! Would love to see some b4 and after results! :)

  • Omg THANK YOU..i almost bought the instyler glad i didnt make that leap, this friday i will be ordering one of those ;D

  • @dubzqueenb7811 Let me know how it works out for ya. I still LOVE my iron.

  • Love your videos!! Thanks for the info on where to buy the flat iron.

  • @diamondsofpink yw :)

  • the name/brand of the blow dryer you use

  • awh sorry you've been getting bad reviews. Okay let me put my 2 cents. Like me there are alot of people who watch and appreciate your video especially this one but we don't like cluttering your page with thanks so i'm saying thanks from the lurkers. The more info we have to work with the better.

  • @buffichar My reviews are wonderful. Some ppl (natural nazis) just don't like the idea of people doing what they want with their hair. :)

  • @buffichar And you and I are on the same page: "the more info we have to work with the better." Thanks!

  • I am just starting the natural hair journey. I have been wwanting to do this for the past 3 years. It has only been 45 days since my last chemical process. My roots are starting to look rough. How did you start the natural process? Did you were protective styling or flat iron the roots?

    Talum

  • @slicktdog08 I actually did exactly what you see in my two vids, pretty much. I think they call it "long transitioning". No "protective styling". I did, however, trim the relaxed ends as it grew. Good luck to ya!

  • I Havee That !! And it works Fantastically (: !!!

  • What products u used to prevent hair from reversing back to humidity and sweat?

  • @TheKennesha The smallest amount of oil. A dab, pretty much. Olive oil, sometimes coconut. Video to come....

  • Thank you for t he video but wear can you get the hair products you use to straighten your har?

  • that method is actually called chasing. i guess because you're chasing the brush or comb with the flat iron. it definitely works well for people who have issues with their ends.

  • What kind of serum do you use to keep hair from swelling from the humidity? I don't think I caught it in the video which I loved by the way thanks for the tip about that flat iron. My sister bought it for $100 at the mall and I loved how it treated my hair but thought it was too expensive. Now I can get one myself for cheaper Yay!!!

  • @Shaina1187 a small dab of oil. I use coconut or olive. Video coming soon....

  • genius!

  • If the heats hotter, doesnt it burn your hair?

  • @kidkuriouz Not the heat coming from my iron. All heat sources arent created equal. Like, I would never use a Golden Hot flat iron HALF as hot as my tourmaline/ceramic iron.

  • can you tell me what deep conditioning treatment you use? i have a similiar texture to yours and have been using Khiels deep conditioning mask which is quite good but very expensive

  • thanks for sharing, so helpful

  • YAY!!! finally i found a video of the pink herstyler straightener. cus i really wana know how big is it and how good they r. now u tell me im really gona buy it!! :D thnx!!!

  • Make some more videos women!!!! I love the ones you made so far, i do the same thing with the brush and the flat iron after seeing the instyler ads :)) i feel genius 2!!! lol i was like 'I DO THAT TOO!' :)

  • Where's the update vid?---lol-You're tips r gr8 we want more:)

  • Thank you for this video. I have seen a few reviews on this flat iron and I went to there website and i was about to purchase it, but I wanted to see a few more reviews on it. I'm sold after seeing your video becuase my hair is natural and my store flat iron works pretty good so i know this will work or I pray it will. Thank you so much for the flat ironing tips and God Bless:)

  • that is genius....thanks for the tip...im gonna flat iron my hair for the first time since i've been relaxed this weekend...i will mos def use ur tips...thanks

  • thx, and you're welcome. you've never flat ironed your relaxed hair?

  • yes i flat ironed when i was relaxed all the time....i meant to say natural...

  • can u tell us more about the hair dryer you use...Im looking for a good one blow dry my natural hair thx. : )

  • "more" like what?

  • Your video is great. I was watching another video on how to straighten wet hair with a wet 2 dry flat iron and she had this weird looking brush that she was using in the way that you use the brush for the ends of your hair. I researched this brush that she was using because I had no idea what it was. It's by Wigo and they sell it at Ulta for $17.99. So, there is a special brush for that technique you discovered :)

  • @DiscoJewel Nice!

  • just wondering...have u experienced any permanent heat damage (straightness) due to high heat?

  • @tizzubestar Nope. Doesn't mean that its ok to just go crazy with high heat tho. There are precautions. From deep conditioning, to using quality irons, heat protecting serums and such. I really wish ppl that have heat damage would step up & share what they did wrong to help others not to, but whatev. Taking proper steps to protect your hair is key. 2 year anniversary vid comin this month (Feb). You'll see it curly and then I'll straighten and you'll see its length. Yep yep!

  • Wow thank you so much for this video update! This was really helpful to me :D

  • hi i was just wondering wat hair type u got is it coarse cause my hair is real coarse so i was wondering would mine flop down like yours cause its nice relply to me if u can thnx

  • @crazyforsaddleclub I really dont know. The hair on the back half of my head is alot more coarse than the front half. i'll have to ask my stylist, who relocated to another state, next time she's in town.

  • thanks so much i really like the fact you gave us ty its a gr8 vid

  • i found a product that keeps my hair straight in rain & humidity. "Beyond the Zone - Wax It Up" for $4.99 at Sally's (it's in a small purple jar). i got caught in drizzling rain & humid days & had no problem for about 4-5 days before i touched up only my ends with the same product. i used that & the same technique you suggested with the round brush & flat iron & my hair lasted the entire week! the only thing is, i air dried my hair first. try beyond the zone & i know you will LOVE it!

  • @Bodytalkin Thanks for sharing. I'm using a very small amount of olive or coconut oil. Lasts until I wash out. I'm gonna include it in my next vid. Humidity cant touch it! :)

  • How often do you straighten your hair? I'm considering straightening my hair but I'm worried about it not curling up again. I've one girl who uses the exact same pink flat iron that you do, and her hair didn't curl up again. Any tips?

  • @JustShanice every single time that I wash my hair, which is every 7-10 days. Exact same pink? or the exact same product? Please be resourceful and do your research on the exact same product, or maybe your friends regimin, because, as you can see, my hair hasnt changed.

  • it was the exact same product. and I know that your hair hasn't changed, cause that's why i wanted to ask you...lol But maybe the girl flat irons too often and differently. thanks :)

  • Your hair turned out beautifl! You should make more videos because this one was a great help!

  • I bought that at the mall 3 years ago for close to 200 dollars:(

  • @coffee2luv The mall introduced me to it. But I KNEW they were scamming ppl. Went home, got online, found it for 38 w/ shipping, and the rest is history.

  • this is genius! and you're right about the Instyler. I haven't purchased one because I'm hoping they will make one that is ceramic or tourmaline. Great video with helpful tips.

  • @LesaLegit Paris Hilton is the face for just that. The Celeb Styler, I think its called. It's a step in the right direction, but I havent read anything about it being 100% (SOLID) ceramic or tourmaline, and that's important in preventing heat damage. Look at the difference in my hair from my first vid to the second. The iron i used in the first vid is not solid 100% Ceramic (its plated), the second vid IS SOLID. See the difference in poof? :)

  • great video. nice hair. five star. im subbing lol. happy new years

  • @finey23 thank you

  • your a freakn genius... I cant wait to try this method

  • oh my gosh ur hair turned out gorgoues!! i want ur hair! if u don't mind me asking, wat race are you? it seems like your curls are pretty loose but i remember seeing them tight curls in your last video!

Im currently growing out mi relaxer 2. its been 6 months and i can't wait till im all natural :) im scared thought because i hav noo idea how straight & movable my hair will b once it's all natural :o hopefully my hair will be as gorgoues as yours! luv the flat iron btw, might get it myself :)

  • do you ever wear your hair in its natural state or do you you plan to always flat iron it?

  • @KinkyKurlyKham I will flat iron it until the cow jumps over the moon. When it hits my shoulders in its natural state I'll probably rock it natural more often, because I love length, but of course by then it will be super long straight and I wont be able to resist that! I love the feeling of the wind on my scalp. And b4 ya go all heat damage nuts like so many do, research 100% ceramic/tourmaline irons. :) Knowledge is power!

  • I wasn't gonna go heat damage nuts lol, I was just wondering why you went natural to always wear it straight but you addressed that in your reply (and I feel you, the chemicals in relaxers are hardddcorrre) good luck on your hair journey! :)

  • @KinkyKurlyKham I'm so looking forward to this summer, when I'll have some amazing length, and I'll def be able to convince ppl that have NO IDEA they can have amazing straight hair, even better than relaxed (in my opinion) without the relaxer. I'm excited. And maybe, someday, we'll all embrace our natural texture, but its all about baby steps right now, and I'm positioned to at least get them off of the creamy crack! :)

  • @KinkyKurlyKham And good luck to you too!

  • Looks good. I was debating between a flat iron and an INstyler and finally decided on an Instyler. I bought a new one from someone which cost a whole lot less than the normal price which I couldn't afford lol :) I'll post a video on the Instyler results.

  • @rellww good luck to ya! The instyler iron isnt ceramic or tourmaline.

  • My problem is keeping my hair from reverting during the blow drying process. I'm thinking about leting my hair air dry and then blowing it out and flat ironing it the next day.

  • this is a great video! very hepful, have you seen the paris hilton "celebrity straightener"?

its the same as the instyler but the barrel is ceramic!

  • @alleyhart This video, @8:35 to 9:05. My idea. I'm still not convinced by the vids I've seen tho. It must be important that the hair is pressed between TWO ceremic plates, and not just one with a brush on top. I'm sure they'll come up with the real deal eventually. Until then, im happy with my ceremic iron and the chase method. Thanks for sharing tho.

  • You have the best natural hair i've seen - its beautiful.

  • Well thank you. When it hits my shoulders in its natural state, im sure i'll rock it more often.

  • THIS IS GENIUS I LUVVVVVVVV YOUUUUU

  • @xxDawlinSingerxx I Luuuuvvv yoooou tooooo

  • Cool. Maybe I won't give up on flat ironing after all. Thanks.

  • In your opinion, what is the best blow dryer to use on natural hair?

  • AMAZING STUFF!!! i just got my hair relaxed and i regret it sooo much. Had I only seen this video much earlier !!! OMGls this is great.

    Thanks

  • This discovery is only 2nd to the fountain of youth... Thank you so much!!! I really want to straighten my hair but don't want to take the drastic measure of getting a relaxer... I want to straighten my hair for my 21st birthday, my only fear now is that I will look like a lion by the end of the night. Once again that you so much, I hope you get a chance to make more vids, you're really funny.

  • Bahaha @ "2nd to the fountain of youth"! You're kinda funny yourself ;)

  • I'm buying this flat iron! Thanks for this vid!

  • Omg this is so genius! I can't believe I never thought of that.. I'm definitely gonna try that one day, and thank you for making this video, I love you.

  • I love you too alegisis. I've always loved you.

  • hey i love your videos. were did you buy that kinky knot curly stuff because i want to try that in my hair
