Zack's growth was relatively gentle compared to Cloud's; whether it means Zack was stronger or events were "easier" doesn't really matter. Yes, Zack dies young & loses out in all he MAY have had, but he had a lot in his short life & truly appreciated it. He lived his dream & died fulfilled - a hero. Cloud had to struggle & figure out what he wanted & who he was. Like many of us...

@greyfoxx55 Cool. I think they may do something since they ended DoC with a cliffhanger of Genesis. They talk about him throughout the game to. Weiss actually tried to recruit him, but Genesis refused. I believe he said something about sleeping until the planet needed him. Perhaps he will redeem himself and Weiss? Whatever way they go with it, its likely to be interesting! =D

That is part of the Advent Children movie, in the beginning when they are summarizing what happened in FF7. The scene is where Cloud returns Aerith to the lifestream after Sephiroth kills her in FF7.

@greyfoxx55 mmmm...I like to think the making of FF7 was just a part of the story - the middle part essentially - and that it all goes together. There is no before and after because it is one whole story that got cut into segments to fit the game(s). The same is true of DoC; they are simply telling the history of Vincent, who was there in the beginning of ALL of it. I like them all, because they all have a part to play and they are all complex and interesting in their own unique way. ;D

To be fair, Zack dies before he reaches his full potential. When he got his butt kicked by Sephiroth, he was only 2nd Class and still in training.

Genesis is not as strong due to the experiments, but he and Angeal are the next strongest. Sephiroth had no equal because his creation was unique.

And Cloud did not defeat Sephiroth alone in 7 - he needed his friends; that is his greatest strength.

In AC, that was not a full power Sephiroth - too much of Jenova was lost before Kadaj changed.

Cloud has skills, but he never actually got the training Zack did. Considering how many soldiers it finally took to kill Zack, AFTER he defeated Genesis - who was almost as good as Sephiroth - I'd say Zack would win.

Yes, he is a misunderstood hero. The Advent Children movie bonus stuff has a great interview with the creator that explains why Cloud is the way he is. He wants to show how a hero doesn't necessarily have to be strong and perfect. Any true fan of the series should watch that bonus material - it explains so much.

I actually like Zack much better than Cloud. Funny thing is I didn't care much for FF7 or any of the characters before Crisis Core. After playing Crisis Core I really like Zack. I think he's my favorite FF hero! I also liked Cloud much more after Crisis Core. Maybe because he's Zack living legacy so I feel like Zack lives on in Cloud. Anyway, this was a nice video, with a good song. Thanks!

Zack saved Cloud's life, but that is not what made Cloud who he is, Sephiroth made Cloud who he is by burning down neighbolheim and by cutting up Tifa, and stabbing Aerith through the heart. After Zack died remember that Cloud was just a mercenary, in the end, noone would be who they are if it was not by Hojo, Hojo is who really started everything.

But without Zack as a mentor and friend, Cloud may not have been able to let his friends help him; if not for all of his friends, Cloud would just be Sephiroth's puppet. Zack was the positive influence that balanced out all the bad stuff Sephiroth did.

mmm...that is exactly what I thought when I heard it. It sums up Cloud's guilt and his resolution of it in Advent Children. Zack never had the guilt, but he did have to deal with Angeal's death. Gotta love those good guys that use the pain to help them fight the crazy...er bad guys....lol
