  • excellent info dave keep up the good info i have purchased several items from your site your site is free so i try to give back to you god bless

  • Dual Survival is the shit!

  • Dave Cantebury is THE MAN. I was sold after I saw Dual Survivor, season 1, ep 8 'Soaked' when he made an arrow with a beer bottle arrowhead and took a turkey with a takedown longbow. Dave is definitely someone you could trust your life with if you were lost out in the middle of nowhere.

  • @bowguy86 you got that right brother! Bomber episode. Would be great to take his course in Ohio

  • i wanna be a student how do i

  • is tht tarp from canteen shop? great vid.....!!!!!

  • im looking to get a stainless steel water bottle. Is there anything that i should look out for? im worried about putting it into the fire and have stuff leaking into my water. Anybody have is recomendations?

  • @Nomadbushman go to the kleankanteen website and look up one of the stainless steel cups with the loop cap. Good stuff!

    again, use the loop cap.

  • is that a casio watch?

  • I mean this with the most respect but personaly I think it would be hilarious if when he said remain composed it showed a clip of him terrified when he was being stung by bees on dual survival

  • wat do you think of the fiskars 14 hatchet

  • You're a leader Dave! I would FOLLOW and LEARN from you, brother! Semper Fi!

  • great advice

  • My survival tip is, when ligting a fire, make sure you light down wind, lol,

    good vid

  • 5/5

Where in pathfinder did u mention shelter I might have missed it. Thnx for sharing.

  • brilliant!

  • Dave, I'm not sure if this message will reach you. I have been watching your Youtube post far before "Dual Survival". I need to thank you for saving my life along with my friend. We were only on a day hike. We got lost and no one knew were we were. I tried my best to follow all your instructions given through your post. "You make it look easy" It was hard! We made it out after five days. My friend is in the hospital but alive. All I can offer you is Thank you for keeping us alive!

  • dave, you are magnificent!!!!! although i have to give number one props to ray mears for being the one who got me into bushcraft and self reliance, i see you at a very close second. you are a very good man for wanting to share your knowledge with the rest of us. thank you very much for that.

    john

  • DUAL SURVIVAL

    Premieres Friday, June 11 at 10m ET/PT

  • Thanks Dave for the great info! I am a buckeye as well, next time I go back up there I'd love to shake your hand.

  • I like the KISS principle as use it all the time. No need to be a gear whore...

  • what is the KISS principle?

  • @KungFuKid1015

Exucse the acronym: Keep It Simple Stupid ! KISS

  • Dave, if the Discovery thing doesn't work out, you would be one hell of a salesman because you sure know how to sell yourself.

    Peace,

    Kamo

  • what tarp is that?

  • Awesome vids. Thanks for posting!! :-)

  • If anyone knows where he got that fleece, I would be very grateful....I've been looking for that for a long time now! thanks for any help.

  • I carry a rasp with me incase I have to start a fire in wet weather. I find a dead log and start rasping away and once I hit dry spot I empty the wet shavings and collect dry shavings to start my fire with.

  • I like your small side bag, if you packed that out with some foliage then it'll afford you better protection from the cold floor. Dunno if you have ever thought of that Dave, but it looks to be a simple kit you are carrying there, a great little grab bag with a few possibles in here. I use something similar which looks like an old German bread bag. It is heavy duty canvas too, and I bunged a bit of greenland wax on to try and waterproof it a bit. Nice one again Dave!

  • this is some real important and helpful survival tips i am greatful for this new knowledge and i thank you one thousand and one time

  • What do you think of fire pistons? I'm thinking of making one myself.

  • Awesome, how do you become a student of pathfinder?

  • check out his pathfinder school on the website. -->

  • Wow, dave you have come along ways baby! Thankyou for all you do!

  • i hear car tire noise and jets all around u

  • and?

  • why couldnt i have had a dad like you growing up, your cool as hell Dave.

  • I did,and miss those times sooo much,,billhooks, shotguns, bowies, canvas, dutch arrows, bows, fishing, ridge tents and campfires, made him a 4 1/2 " bushcraft knife with oak scales and sheath in May in some small way to thank him for getting me out in the woods so many years ago.. I had an awesome childhood under tree boughs..surburbia sucks bigtime,,regards

    from England

  • Awesome video!

  • What type of jacket is that? Thats pretty sharp, anyone know what type/brand?- + great video and info.

  • did i hear sirens in the background in this video ?

  • i wish you all the best in hope of scoring a spot on discovery, you rock dude, be safe and keep it real.

  • i hope you do get a tv spot but keep it real dont let them dram it up thats what

keeping it real is what makes your videos

    so good

there is a guy on the tv in the uk that is all about the drama and to anyone who knows about this kind of thing he looks like a clown...

  • you need to have your own tv show!

  • He is working on it!!!

  • when i've had to start a fire in wet conditions, i've found that if you lay a bed of thick green wood, 2 layers, dug about 4 or so inches deep, with room for air circulation, you can get a good fire going, and no worries about moisture seeping up and soaking out your fire.

Plus, you don't get as much smoke! when the coals form, and you got a good bed, the green wood acts as a 'bed' to sit your cups, etc, to sit on.

    Hope that helps.

  • Quitters never win and Winners never quit!

  • wow. these videos are exactly what i have been looking for. im just now getting into hiking/survival and these videos are great!

  • you know, very few things are as satisfying as sitting under your poncho hooch, brewing up some hot cocoa, while the rain pours down around you. But you are warm and dry, listening to it patter on your poncho.

  • and laughing as your friends shiver in the cold :D

  • Naw, I always share with my friends. It is my enemies that I laugh at as they huddle, soaked through, in the cold wind and rain. Not my friends.

  • brilliant video Dave, been subscribed for a few months now and I watch every video you make. I am very intrested on learning how to survive in the wilderness and to survive on my own without using many man made tools. For me primitive techniques are very important and are even more important than any modern techniques

  • I used to have the "have no fear, i have a bic" syndrome.

I don't use anyhting out of my pack, till i have to, my prefered fire method is bowdrill..its fairly fast and easy..all you need is a knife.

its important to know how to do things with no "outside" tools....you won't always have a Bic, or even a knife

  • Hey Dave,

Where did you get that fleece and where can I get one? That's a perfect color for my surroundings. Thanks and keep up the great work!

  • Thanks Dave . You are doing a great service to everyone. GOD bless you and yours.

  • what cind of foot were do you recomend

  • all depends on where you are, and what you need out of your footware...

I live in Minnesota, and for the winter, I wear Bates Intermediate cold weather boots (ICWB)..there basicaly insulated combat boots

In the summer, there are alot of wet conditons here, its hot, its humid, creeks, rivers lakes OH MY!. I prefer to wear Panama soled Jungle boots, yes, i even hike in them.

Thats just what I wear, people have other preferences

change your socks before bed, every day

  • Very nice and informative video dave. Watched a couple other ones you've made and they are great also. I noticed you're wearing a pathfinder watch if I'm not mistaken. Just wanted to ask if you ever experienced battery problems with that watch?

  • Not so far, only had it 3 months though.

  • I have a solar pathfinder... Had it for a couple of years now, I highly recommend it.

  • I was one of his first few subscribers great vid dave

  • Nicely done, Dave! Your videos have come along way. it's good that you've tighten up on the editing.

  • Like the new intro dave.

Youtube made me take down one of my vids aswell but my new ones will have music made by me;-)

  • great video where do find horseshoe fungus and how long does it extend your fire. i wanted to add i like the new intro its cool. also pinesap is a great fire extender too. thanks for making these videos i have learned alot from you please keep them coming.

  • Another great video

  • do you know any stews or soups you can make with wild edibles or caught game? would be interesting to make a video about. a soup or stew can be a very warming en nourishing meal when prepared correctly and with the right ingredients it tastes incredible. i would be very thankfull if you would make a video about it

  • almost reminds me of SURVIVAL from SERE school, Love the new intro great vid

  • u should have shown all the fire making because u always talk about it but what ever

  • Man I'll tell ya In the first 50 Videos I made I started probably 30 Fires on camera, I just figue people get tired of seeing that and the time is better used for information, maybe I'm wrong, thanks man.

  • and with all the time u said it took u it may have started a third part

  • amen dave....there is only about 100,000 vids on youtube showing how to make fire....thank you for focusing on other things

  • @wildernessoutfitters Good job though, more quick reference is good, being able to watch a video and watch what i need to do so i can go out and practice it. Great job though.

  • @wildernessoutfitters

I grew up on the Scioto River in the same county..............thank you Sir, and I say that with respect, carry on!

    Thanks!

  • there are hundreds of videos about fire making on youtube

  • like the new intro but my complaint is the "follow me" part i think u should change it to learn with me but im just some guy

  • I Like it Man!!!!Great Suggestion!!!!!!!

  • Dave, thanks for the video. Watching the video showed us that you were truly applying the pathfinder system, dealing with an unpleasant situation. Thanks, Thanks for the video... The intro and outro are excellent. they have given your videos there own personality now... great job.

  • Very good video Dave
