No, the first problem of listening in interpersonal relationships is that men need to learn to NOT listen to women. Women have two minds, the mouth-mind and the action-mind. Show me a woman who talks about piety and 'god', finding a "nice guy", or someone who treats them well, and I'll show you a woman with two kids and two missing baby daddies.
A woman will tell a nice guy that she can't find a nice guy, & that works until the next jerk comes along who "needs fixing", & she's off to the races.
That was really cool. Thanks for posting up this video. I learned something about better listening skills, which seems to be very clearly represented in this video. I really like how you mention empathy. Here's something I'm curious about: When I'm trying to figure out how someone feels about a subject, I tend to focus on their personality and love language. Does this mean that I'm not listening to the actual words? Or am I simply overthinking the conversation?
Hearing is the….preception….of the err...voice and other communication that the person is err…zzz….sending to us…...zzzzzz…..Hearing is not the understanding…….err…. of the message…..zzzzZZZZZZzzzzz
hands up if you're watching this because of Jake and Amir? By the way, all his talking i found really hard to listen to. I could hear him, but found ir hard to listen
I fond that the dialogue between the two individuals was not too complicated and there was too much paraphrasing involved. In other words too little of a debate and too much reiteration instead.
thank you sir and your team, i have understand that i have active listening problem and i am aware of my problems and thanks again to give out a solution for that . please keep it up bcause of your such a wonderful help many people out there will be benefit .

What fuck on hell! write him on spanish, I´m sure that he isn´t able to undestand it, at least you know English, he is so uncultered that he doesn´t realize that people learn to understand others cultures and cause It is very usefull.
@joelcarnice whachasayin? you fucking batshit-crazy bitch, whore? should i just relentlessly claw your eyes out with a crooked rusted fork? is that what you suggesting? god forbid you reaaly piss me off and i start shitting in your mouth and all over your fucking face, you dipshit?
@elllllectro It's obviously that for you it's so stupid this, but.. I would like see how you speak, listen and understand another language, i'm from Catalonia and my mother language it's catalan and spanish so... c'mon why u don't try to understand catalan or spanish?
pd: it's very easy insult, the difficult is help another people.
@joelcarnice he noticed your bad English and decided to troll you. your PD, which i think you meant as P.S. for Post Script is half correct. the reason he insults is to feel better about himself and hopefully look good on youtube. take a guess at why. I bet in real life hes full of character, everyone loves him. hes not a total loser looking for validation by insulting people on youtube for having bad English. we all suck at English and we're native STFU retards
"An extremely nice tool to improve your English pronunciation:
Iphone App "Pronounce It L1"
You can get it from Iphone, Ipod-touch, or Ipad. 0.99$
This allows you to RECORD your own voice, LISTEN to native speaker, grade your pronunciation and come back for repeats and improve your pronunciation.
good enough. but the 2nd part: the conversation wasn't OK. the speaking parson was shown but nt the listening one. both of them should be shown simultaneously to get the total picture.
Sure. But I work with an ADD person. They think while talking. They cannot organize and plan what they have to say. Listening to a person that really doesn't have well formed thought and are oblivious to that, is agony. It's like you have to turn aroung and do something else and just nod as if you are just listening. It sounds rude, but all people do that to ADD people because the alternative is to just shoot yourself. ADD people do it too. They cannot focus long enough to listen.
Great video for people who are interested in active listening or realize the benefits of active listening. People with interest in conflict resolution or channeling should be interested in this video.
cool I can understand most of the world he is saying , it is a good way in order to practice listening I am taking the TOEFL ITP in the next future I have to do my best thanks for this sort of video, very useful resource, thanks again
Prof. thank you very much for your awesome tips and advices. It really helps to the entire english learning and listening community. My question is while listening i understand everything, but when i write i forget everything. what do you think. is this my listening problem or memory weakness.
hey man, im not even half way done listening to your lecture, but i must say that i like the idea of writing the important messages while your talking. this helps me to keep the major points in mind while you explain the less important ones. thanks
I'm guessing offering empathy may be up a notch from listening as it is an understanding of what someone may be experiencing. Anytime we can listen or offer empathy and be present with another is a gift.
Yeah, very useful indeed. I wonder if there's any way for me to download this so I can share it with my friends who don't have any internet connection at home; so they can just watch it through Windows Media Player?

Most people do not listen actively:
Are you a good Listener?
Are you open to what other people say to you, or do you make up your mind about things before you hear other people's view?
Do you become bored when other people speak?
Do you interrupt people when they are speaking?
Are you hesitant to ask clarifying questions?
Instead of asking if a person understands a message, it is much better to request that the receiver explain what he or she has heard.

talking to others learning English makes you realize how much you've strayed from your own language.
like i never wouldve <--see added that apostrophe
now i notice all the apostrophes, caps, all the stuff we leave out cuz it takes up too much time.
beacause
cuz
theres English,
then theres our language,
"Merican!
takes half the time to speak,
twice he time to learn.
