  • ahahahahahahahahahahahah xD

  • watched as kid in Australia... we used to play Gigantor fight games at school...

  • toonami anyone?

  • Love this show catchy theme

  • The theme song popped in my head this evening. Thank God I can now put it to rest -thanks to kochvision and YouTube

  • They should've had Harry Belafonte sing the Gigantor themesong.

  • How many of you, when you got older, found that the name "Dick Strong" was Hilarious?!? Didn't know anything when I was kid, but when I became a teen,.. Gigantor was funny just because of "Dick Strong"

  • I used to be scared of this music and the cartoon, I was young, what can I say lol

  • I watched this when I was 3 - 4 years old in Nigeria. The only other cartoon was Felix the Cat and this rocked! When we came back to England, no one knew it at all. Disappointing, but so great to see it again even if there is only one episode in You Tube and the opening credits! Anyone know where other episodes can be found?

  • I seem to remember some sort of Hanna-Barbera knock off, that had a kid and a giant robot, that I think he kept in a closet. I think he had a similar flying technique.

  • when I was a kid I was "GIGANTOR"!!! I loved the cartoon..crappy animation as it was but hey..I was a kid back then!!

  • Watching this and with a bowl of frosted flakes! what great memories!

  • Gigantor is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • They aired in America in black and white. A lot of changes were made and a lot of episodes left out but I think they would have kept it in color if it had been made that way.

  • I think "Gigantor" was filmed in black-and-white.

Otherwise, the reruns would have been more prevalent over the years.

  • This used to be shown a few years ago on Cartoon Network VERY early on weekday mornings, this and Astro Boy (as part of the final hour of "Adult Swim"). Nowadays, Cartoon Network actually has shows with no animation whatsoever, and absolutely none of the vintage stuff they used to show. Come to think of it, Boomerang doesn't show any of the vintage stuff either, except for The Flintstones, Jetsons and Scooby-Doo.

  • @elc1960

I was up at like 4 AM at a bro's house and they played the shit out of Wacky Races, Yogi Bear, A few of those other Hana Barbera ones, and Thundar The Barbarian.

  • @elc1960 Cartoon Network is now crap. I'm only 15, but "old" cartoons for me where things like Johnny Bravo, Dexter's Labratory, and the Powerpuff Girls. Now, what they show is crap. They don't even give Courage the Cowardly Dog anymore. Luckily, they give a lot of these cartoons on Boomerang, but not anything thay you described as "vintage." Sadly, cartoons are slowly wasting away.I feel sad for the generation after mine (like my 4 year old brother). Beiing raised on computer-animated shows. 8(

  • the series was rather crude compared to other imports of the time but that theme music made you want to watch.

  • Inspired by Superman

  • I used to sing this song to make fun of a fat kid in my class.

  • gigantor, 8thman green hornnet what else is there to say

  • wow,for just a few seconds i was 11 years old again.thank you for posting this.fond memories.

  • man i love this guy!!Thanks a lot mo not my brother johhny!!hahaha

  • my fav as a kid!

  • @ feralflatfour so true, so true homie

  • The first giant robot. Too bad he wasn't sentient.

Very few Transformers could stand up to him.

  • The creator of Transformers should never may ANY movies EVER again....Bay Sucks

  • Mazinger z would kick Gigantor's ass any day.

  • I remember making Gigantors out of clay in school and throwing them at the wall in 1965. Great stuff.

  • Loved this as a kid!! We had some bad-assed cartoons, along with the 8th Man, Captain Scarlet, Johnny Quest, Speed Racer.........man we had it pretty good. Set the tone for all that is today!

  • i loved this show.. still have the first esp. on vhs

  • this brings back so much memories of when i was a kid. gigantor was great and well missed.

  • For some reason I had this in my head tonight and of course YouTubed it. LIke studiosinger, I'm reeling from having heard it for the first time in, surely, 40 or more years. Still gives me shivers.

  • @bobgass check out the Dickies version of the theme song for Gigantor. It is totally awesome.

  • @bobgass I don,t believe it, so did I. So cool.

  • "Gigantor" was the joint back-in-the-day. Aired weekdays prior to "Kimba the White Lion" on UHF Channel 52 in Los Angeles. Good times!

  • gostei

  • My brain is burning after hearing that song after about 42 years. Really, I'm not kidding!

  • Girls liked it too, at least the tom boys did.

  • @studiosinger I resemble that remark.

  • when i was a kid gigantor was one of my favorite cartoons i used to draw gigantor on my notebook

  • @MrAsilva125 Me too! Hahaha... Love Gigantor!

  • 3 people didn't have a childhood

  • @Taima 3 people need to go shallow a nice cold glass of....well...glass. Followed by a nice TNT and peanut butter sandwich

  • shit hot memories. awesome

  • I loved this show as a kid. I watched it everyday after school. It was in color. I never missed an episode. Thanks for bringing back wonderful memories!

  • Channel 9 from Windsor?

  • Need help. I remember a show when i was a kid i could swear was called "Gigantor". The show was in color though and the giant machine was blue with numbers on the side of its arm and a small boy controlled the robot with a controller on the ground. Anyone know of this show? Thanks

  • @JEDM87 Yes! I loved this show as a kid. It was my favorite. It was in color. I watched it everyday after school.

  • when i was in elementary school way back in the 70's this was my favorite show. tv was black and white then. i never realized until now how bad the theme song sounds...

  • @xbe613 - it's not a bad theme song for that day and age.

  • Wow ! What memories I was 7 and I still remember the theme song.

  • When I started school in 1969 Gigantor was all I thought about for the whole day. Or if I did think about anything else it was how it related to Gigantor and Jimmy Sparks. I think I drove a lot of people mad; even Mum and I used to sing the song together when the show was on after school. Cordial, Tic-toc biscuits and Gigantor. Bliss. I still think he is the greatest.

  • Oh dear me i still remember some of this theme music...I need my rocking chair and hot milk.

  • I was in 3rd grade when this show premiered. My friends and I lived for each episode.

  • Bigger than BIG! Taller than TALL! Quicker than QUICK! Stronger than STRONG! Ready to fight for RIGHT! AGAINST WRONG!

I used to say this every day until my brothers would smack me and say, "KNOCK IT OFF!"

  • JovonTLC..same here..after school I would run home a turn on the tv ...I'm suprised they haven't done a remake

  • I'd love to see the American Gigantor Vs the Japanese original Tetsujin 28. It wonder who (in their respective interpretations) is stronger?

  • @RikuReplicate I think it would be an Even Match really.

  • The kid looks like speed racer. As I remember the kid also packed a gun.

They don't make the like that anymore.

  • Gigantor would kick the Transformers asses! My favorite as a kid.

  • @Poncho389 Sorry, I have to disagree with you. True, Gigantor is big, very strong and can fly but he has one great fault. He is not alive and can't think or reason. This would give any Transformer of equal size a huge advantage in a fight.

  • @Steve17010 you are right, but I have to stay with my sixties tech haha. Even though Im old, Ilike Transformers movies too. I used to run home from school to watch Gigantor @ 3 oclock. Good times as a kid in the sixties/seventies.

  • @Poncho389

No way. Gigantor and Optimus would be total bros if Gigantor was sentient. They'd team up and whoop some ass though.

  • @Goribus That would be a movie I'd pay to see!

  • @Poncho389 your nostalgic feelings for this show has made you delusional. Gigantor wouldn't last a second against the transformers.

  • @cc527 Hahahaha your are probably right , it was my favorite show ever... but cut me a little slack. None of this is reality was just having a little fun.

  • @cc527 well C,that would be yes and no,yes u are right if "Gigantor" is not brought up to the standards of the short attention span and video game knuckle heads today, like u. and if they do No u are wrong,Gigantor would break his leg off in some "Transformer" azz.

  • The FIRST and undoubtedly one of the most successful Robot Animation =)

  • people youtube "styles of beyond - gigantor" i had to look gigantor up from that song i thought it had to be from something, the song is great, sorry if im advertising but you people need to hear it :D

  • Oh I just got chills watching this. Like many of you I watched this in the afternoon as a child. The theme song brought back memories of being at my Grandparents after school and watching this on the sun porch. 44 years later this clip made it seem like it was just last month.

This and Speed Racer were my all time favorite cartoons!

    Thanks for posting!

  • ONE OF THE GREATEST////////

  • Gigantor was da shit when I was in prison. We used to TIVO it for each other and watched the Smoe Robot No. 6 episodes before our parole hearings!

  • wtf! does he just randomly chop planes O.o lol love the anime tho

  • HAHA shotarou

  • what great childhood memories!

  • This show's opening is burned into my brain.. and not because I liked it. I used to stay up late to watch Case Closed on Adult Swim when I was like... 11. They lost the license I guess to air it though, and replaced it with this..... *sigh*.

  • Great to see this again after 40-some years. Gigantor, 8thMan, Speed Racer, Jonny Quest, Bullwinkle, Popeye, Diver Dan, Clutch Cargo, Thunderbirds, et al., are why growing up in the '60s was the best time. TV got 6 channels then but one never lacked for entertainment. Today you can get 600 with little worth watching.

  • 1964 - 1966 wpix channel 11 NYC .

  • OMG! I used to watch this when I would get up early and get ready for school! lol memories

  • how the hell do you control a Giant as fk robot with a atari joy stick

  • This was the best man....word

  • Jees' I was in the third grade when this cartoon played on Channel 9 in NYC.

  • i love Gigantor with Jimmy Sparks,Dr Bob Brillant, Inpector Blopper and the Bad guys too were neat. But this robot destroy them all long live Gigantor. these kids dont know what they were mi9ssing back then. Today there is no shows that compare to Gigantor,Johnny Quest and many more,

  • does anyone have the new adventures of gigantor theme also known as iron man 28

  • thanks I just had a 1976 flasback to the Gigantor/Three Stooges hour on my local channel when I got home from school. Good memories!

  • did any1 ever see the new adventures of gigantor? that came out in the late 90s only 4 a short time...it couldnt touch the original tho

  • THE COLD CRUSH THE COLD CRUSH THE COOOLD CRUUSH This is used as one of The Cold Crush Four's routines ! Oh the memories! Thanks for the upload!

  • Gigantor was the bomb. I can also remember coming home from elementary school looking foward to watching Gigantor. ccalman, I see we have something in common because this song has stuck out in my head for over 40 years also. I know all of you guys who watched Gigantor have to be between the ages of 45 to 55 right now. never the less, Gigantor and the winchell mahoney hour with knucklehead and jerry were my favorite 1960s cartoons!!!!!!

  • @77757891 I'm a 51 year old knucklehead and I used to get laughed at by my friends for running home from school to watch Gigantor. The series ran on cable a few years ago and it was funny because it was so corny, but when I was a kid I wanted to be the guy with the controls and kick the shit outta the "evil doers"! That song has been "burnin my brain" for over 40 years....that's a LONG TIME to have a CRAPPY song stuck in your head!

  • @77757891 , exactly , coming home from grammar school , watching Gigantor every day along with Courageous Cat and minny Mouse with the frog.

  • That song has been stuck in my head for more than 40 years. Thanks, Channel 9.

  • @ccalman same here and I bet you still remember the Palisades Amusement Park commercial from back then too! ;-)

  • @azlee11 Palisades, from coast to coast,

Where a dollar buys the most.

    Palisades Amusement Park

Swings all day and after dark. . .

You'll have fun, so come on over!

  • Channel 9 in NYC in the 60's. What great memories!

  • Excellent!! I've been hoping some kind soul would post this with such clarity... thanks to all the other guys, but this posting of this great old TV theme beats all contenders by a mile ~ smile!

  • @Allhallowsday Didn't they color this toon later? I thought there used to be a color version of this show. I was born in 75 so this was before my days.

  • @hootyhaha I'm sure it was always color. What you're seeing is an early black and white TV broadcast capture perhaps by video tape or worse, something like kinescope...? I had a very hard time responding to you as YouTube wants us all to link our accounts with Google and change our passwords... I got an email in my yahoo mail today about your question... it's sad they want to block and grab and interfere and divert...

  • @Allhallowsday That's GOOGLE for ya. Always medeling with and ruining things. Including YouTube.

  • This is my favorite old cartoon opening theme and my favorite part Gigantor the space age robot he's at your command, Gigantor the space age robot his power is in your hands!

  • Gigantor was the shit when I was in elementary school. All the kids in the neighborhood ran home after school to make sure we catch Gigantor It used to come on right after Mr. Magoo on channel 9. The

creators of the Transformers movie should make a Gigantor movie..THAT WILL BE HOT

  • Hmmm, sounds like you probably was watching gigantor in NYC on WOR Channel 9, right?

  • @JovonTLC have you ever checked out the animated film, The Iron Giant. Really good movie! Not exactly Gigantor but close...

  • @JovonTLC Mr magoo was the bomb too. I think the cartoons of our day were so much better than today. I totally loved Gigantor.

  • No! Not Michael Bay! OTOH, this will totally rock if they can finish it -- can't post the link, search for "T28-Trailer Oficial"

  • @JovonTLC you and me both, and yeah agree about a movie.

  • @JovonTLC Nah they'd fuck it up. They'd make Gigantor look stupid like they did with the Transformers.

  • @JovonTLC They're resurrecting Green Hornet (who?) and Green Lantern (Who??) when right in front of them is Gigantor! Hell, even Astro Boy got a shot...

  • @JovonTLC That will be hot? thanks paris hilton, nd they wouldnt make a gigantor film because who the fuck is gunna watch it? A few adults who watched it in there youth? i swear nobody on youtube possesses any marketing intelligence...

  • @JovonTLC Question would it be wise to release it as Gigantor when Tetsujin 28 has the better opening song. There was a remake with the original names intact too, the only way it would work is if there was 2 versions of the movie with choosable names.

  • @JovonTLC : I know that's right!....wasn't NOTHING like Gigantor when I was growing up!....I'm 47 and STILL consider this to be da SHYT!....

  • Comment removed

  • this but all cartoons to shame i watched this more then any other i have some VHS of it

  • why does the theme song have rhumba beat?

  • this brings back great times i loved this show and watched it all the friggin time..thank you

  • This was one of my favorite shows as a kid. Fuck the Power Rangers and the Transformers. Gigantor was the original.

  • Why has no one made a remix of this song yet? >.>

  • Don't know of any remix either, but Helmet made a kickass cover version back in the 90's.

  • Behold, Gigantor, the father of the mecha genre!

  • Really? He was the first giant robot in anime or.. ever?

  • Well, he's the oldest one I know of; I could be wrong.

  • i was searching for something like this but now im really confused it was a show from the 90s that looked like that but with colour lol

  • I think that was called "The New Gigantor". Known in Japan as "Taiyo no Shisha: Tetsujin 28 Go." It was actually from the 80s and it was based on the original show.

  • @akathelegend2007 This was the original I grew up with in the 60's. One of my earliest memories was my father calling my brother & I to breakfast. We just ignored him and kept watching Gigantor. He finally turned the t.v. off and carried both of us to the table kicking and screaming! Man, were we pissed!

  • i'm 22 and i saw this when i was about 5 or 6 and it will never leave me this show game me my love for all that is mecha :) and my first glimps of anime :) thank you

  • Man, I'd hate to admit it....but Gigantor could fucking RAPE Gundam, due to his sheer epicness. D:

  • I love this show so much. you should post episodes. i'd so subscribe to you.

  • What does it say in the very first "verse" (I guess you would call it a verse)" It sounds like "Gigantor in the street say roh-hah, hee-than-" and so on...it seems incoherent, making me really want to find out.

  • it goes:

    Gigantor, Gigantor, Gigantor.

    Gigantor the space aged robot,

    He is at your command.

    Gigantor the space aged robot,

His power is in your hand.

Bigger than big, taller than tall,

Quicker than quick, stronger than strong.

Ready to fight for right, against wrong.

    Gigantor, Gigantor, Gigantor.

  • About two months ago, Tokyo completed construction of a 59 foot tall Gundam robot that lit up at night.

A week ago, in Kobe, Japan, construction finished on a 59 1/2 foot tall Gigantor robot as well.

So long as scientists in Kyoto aren't experimenting on lizards with large doses of radiation, I think we're ok for now.

  • I grew up watching Gigantor. Watching the video makes me think that the best part is the opening theme. (well, almost, maybe) Nice catchy Rumba beat.

  • Gigantor was created to win World War II, but they couldn't make a working robot fast enough. That's a little fact they omitted from the U.S. version.

  • @reivenlocke

While I'm happy for the 52 episodes Mr. Fred Ladd gave us, I wish he'd bought ALL the episodes, no matter how bad the animation or how bad the Americans looked in the early episodes. I'm sure those "lost" episodes are out there somewhere and will eventually come out, so we can all see what the REAL "Gigantor" was really like!

  • i like the dickies cover of this song

  • Cartoon heros, 1960's style. It was great .

  • I would watch this when I was a kid and the theme song would freak me out... I don't know why.

It was pretty cool to watch a kid fly a really huge iron robot with a modified toaster though! xD

  • Gigantor has a Latin beat here! Sounds Tropical!

Also, what if Gigantor fought Edward Cullen?

  • squash...

  • when this show was on adult swim i would be sleep then at 5:00am i would hear GIGAAAAAAAAANTOR! GIGAAAAAAAAAAANTOR! really loud good times good show

  • gigantor! this was the first anime I ever saw...

  • My first was "Kimba the White Lion", but I LOVED Gigantor....

  • gigantor! as a kid, this was my favorite & the very first japanese anime I ever watched. I think this started the style of animation that japan is known for...

  • My first robot cartoon...WOW! GIGANTOR!!! I even can sing some of the lyrics hehe...It brought back memories when i was a kid. Thanks...

  • This video is best of all times,I grew up watching this on TV.

  • yeahh the face creeps me outs I ASKED THE CHURCH CHORUS TO SING THIS AND THEY DID HA!

  • GIGANTOR, GIGANTOR, GIGAAAAAAANTOR!!!! one of the most awesomely complicated songs in the universe.

  • the rap version of this song is fuckin sweet, look up superstars by styles of beyond at the end of the song theres like a minute and a half pause and then the rap version starts

  • this is like the swinging-ist theme music ever.

    I pick jazz hands:

    "Gigannnnnntoooorrrrrr!"

  • cool! catchy tune! GIGANTORRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

  • were is the web site for gigantor can not find it

  • love this theme
