  • i really like it...

  • This pedal reminds me of the video game Earthbound for some reason.

  • fuckin funny even though i don't know how or when i should use it

  • @actionfleet Use it for recording, when you want to make it sound like a vintage recording.

  • DANIEL JOHNSTON!

  • So awesome. Reminds me of early-Bibio. Too bad it's too expensive.

  • nice idea but i'm not spending 300 bucks on this. i'd rather make or buy a clone.

  • 3 people don't understand any kind of music other than mainstream/boring.

  • Just a question.. Do you have to use the looper to get the effect or can you just run a signal through it and not use the looper?

  • @mickooyy

Yes, you now can achieve the lo-fi ZVEX wackiness in real time with our Instant Lo-Fi Junky. It will be available August/September 2011 at Pro Guitar Shop. Rock it. ZVEX EFFECTS

  • @abetterlifewithzvex yesss, but make it affordable please.

  • @mickooyy That is a good question. Anybody?

  • I just can't imagine using this (although I like playing experimental things). Maybe on a low volume next to another guitarist to provide some background.

  • When you say 'caps the frequencies above 2.6khz' do you mean it cuts everything above that?

  • It sounds like a worn out tape.

but i still want it. :D

  • @CCRockit it's supposed to...

  • Saw J Mascis rock this thing at a solo acoustic show last night, now I freakin' want one.

  • Is there any looper like this that is all analog, but sounds a little more Hifi? Is that possible?

  • @markb583 - This is the only analog looper pedal in existence, as far as we know. In this application "analog" necessarily means "lo-fi". For hi-fi looping in a pedal you'll need to get something digital. There are many fine digital looping pedals available. However, If you're not willing to compromise and you have room for something larger than a pedal, then we suggest finding a couple of reel-to-reel tape machines and googling "frippertronics" : )

    Thanks,

    PGS Crew

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos Thanks for your help, I had the timefactor but the digital conversion was destroying my tone, so I sold it off and now am just using an older Deluxe Memory Man for delay. Amazing sounds, but I miss not have a loop feature for live application. I'll probably just have to go with some ADAT backing tracks live. As always I learn a lot from your demos, they are the best on you tube, keep it up!!

  • That's awesome as fuck. It sounds exactly like a wobbly record like in the description!!

  • Sounds like a Roland Space Echo that needs a six week $300 total overhaul at a Audio shop.

    No thanks.

  • Hmmm cool, $300 for a looper that makes your guitar sound like it's out of tune. A normal looper and any old cheap chorus pedal would be able to do pretty much the same effect.

  • There's one for 99 cents on ebay right now (12/7/10)

  • saw a guy use one of these on saturday with three delays (among loads of other pedals) for some crazy atmospheric loops to play over

  • :26 sold

  • I want this Pedal, the Wooly Mammoth and Ringtone from Zvex.... but I haven't won the lottery yet. :( Why so pricey?

  • is there a way that you can just use lo fi sound as an effect?

  • It has a use, if you're making an after school special in 1976. Can this thing give u a clean playback, w/o any effects?

  • @WarwickDavey - Dude, "Lo-Fi" is the name of the pedal. It's an analog looper and it's supposed to sound dirty and Low Fidelity (get it?). For clean, friendly playback you're going to want a digital looper pedal of some kind. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching : )

    -PGS Crew

  • sounds crap, how the fuck you could find a use for this?

  • @TheLedGuitarist

sounds very boards of canada :)

and if your creative enough you will find a use :p

  • @TheLedGuitarist sounding "crap" is the whole point of the LO-FI (kind of a giveaway) loop junky... if you want stellar looping buy the boss rc-2 or some modern looper.. some ppl want a different sound when jamming to a loop or some even write music using lo-fi loops.. "if the doors of perception would be cleansed everything would seem to man as it is, infinite.." and lo-fi..

  • is there a way to repeat this sound without looping, as in direct play back?

  • When i die, im going to record a sweet riff, then burry myself with the loop junky...with safe mode on. Then in the year 2170 they shall unveil the-then mediocre riff!

  • I could buy this, or I could eat this week.

  • What vibrato would you reccommend me for that warp sound? Something drastic I guess.

  • i tried the vibrato on this at the shop today and it isnt nearly as cool sounding as in the vid. what the effff. maybe it was a used pedal. im gonna try again.

  • Id buy it if there was no Record, but that this would directly make this sound. :D

  • the lo-fi sound is awesome but no way in hell I could justify paying over $150 for this when you could buy any old 80s' 8or12 bit sampler or looper and get same same effect.

Plus most loopers arent all that hi-fi anyway and you can overdub.

OR record you phrase on a cassette tape and then play that a little slowed down into a real looper and presto lo-fi loop.

Sorry no overdubbing on a looper is just silly for $300+, might as well get and old rack delay with sample&hold($60)

  • It works good with bass guitars?

  • I got this pedal on it's way to me now! It'll be my fourth zvex pedal!

  • i love zvex pedals

i think they're great and so original and imaginative. they have substance unlike alot of standard pedals.

but i dont understand why anyone would want to buy a pedal like this! i get that its lo-fi and and analog looper but it sounds shit

  • There is no better loop pedal on the market. Try to create a loop with a different pedal, especially if it's digital, and you'll get exactly the same sound you recorded. Now if you wanna play over in a live show for instance the best attribute to describe what you're gonna get van only be: boring. This is different, when you play over it really makes you think there's another guy on stage. And the old-school feel is just the icing on the cake. I agree it's expensive but hey...noblesse oblige ;)

  • that is probably one of the most retarted, and easily one of the most close-minded comments I have ever read on youtube

  • @bosquitoradu i agree with everything you said. i def think its better than most other loop pedals ive tried out. ive come to the conclusion that zvex is geared more towards more eccentric (for lack of better words) guitarists. some guys want to have a loop going that sounds exactly like how they played it, and thats why digital ones are nice.but in the spirit of live looping, i think its more fun to have two very different guitar tones

  • If you're recording a track, you can make your recording sound like it came from an old, old forgotten (and warped) tape or record. It makes more of an impact if the settings are kept fairly subtle. I've wanted one of these for a long time.

  • Yes, that's my sound!

  • can someone tell me if it is possible to have it loop the track back undistorted, and if you can play over it while it is playing back

  • No and no.

  • definatly not, its a lo-fi pedal - designed to fuck the sound up.

Buy one of those boss looper pedals or the digitech one for looping if you want less distortion

  • first question: not really

second question: yes, but you can't over dub, you can jam over this

  • i love it

  • Wow that second loop you made is VERY similar to Top Soil by Bibio! Especially since he has that slow vibrato on it just like this pedal does

  • yeah I was thinking bibio... btw liked your coffee house performance :)

  • yeah baby!

    fuckin holy shit!

  • Fuck what I said two months ago, I WANT IT!

  • Can you record multiple loops over each other?

  • Noel Gallagher uses this pedal for his helicopter sounds on morning glory, the tamboura and sitar sounds on to be where theres life and its just rock n roll baby sample

  • Where did you get that info from?

  • I agree. I wouldn't spend $300 for this. But, with since it is handmade and has such unique features and details, it definately is worth the money.

  • lifetime (that's zach vex's lifetime) warranty as well

  • i want all of the zvex pedals. they all sound awesome

  • I wish he didnt demo the pedal with the tremolo depth and speed engaged for most of the video, it really misses out the fact that it is a very good clean analog recorder, that plays back what you recorded with that analog warmth and vibe (aka not digitally sterile and clean)

  • i wish i could have your job.

  • I'm getting this pedal and that's that.

  • lol, best comment ever.

  • sounds really Boards of Canada

Good thing my grandpa gave me his old reel to reel because otherwise i would definetly shell out the 300 for this

  • Hee. I just did today. I'm curious to run it through my space echo for some off the wall ambiance.

  • i just got my lo fi loop junky and its great, you can have a very clean sounding loop and then play around and mess the sound, its great. ive been using it all day to play john frusciantes "In the beginning" all day

  • why does it sound so wrong??

  • You can make the lo fi loop junky sound as right as you want, you can make it sound reallyclean, he just has it on the warped setting, its an excellent pedal.

  • So tight. How hard is it to keep the loop in a tight 4/4 groove? Seems like you'd really have to watch your timing when you stomp it.

  • Nah. Just like tapping your foot.

  • great demonstration. most excellent.

  • Can you overdub loops with this pedal??

  • No.

  • awesome!

  • i love this pedal i just wish it wasn't $300, way to expensive :(

  • that first riff was so beautiful with the loop.

  • is this the only analog looper on the market?

  • awesome.....I am falling in love with zvex stuff....

  • Cool ! But WAY too expensive.

  • @guillll I agree! I want the low price as well!

  • I like this

  • i have this pedal. it's absolutely awesome! great demo too, proguitarshop ROCKS!!

i spent like 3 hours when i first got this thing playing cool little leads, then looping it over some jazzy rhythm chords. never gets old i tell you!! and if you use it to drive a marshall half-stack, or a tweed bassman, hard it's pure heaven.
