  • Lol at all the people that can't keep up. It was fast, but I still picked up most of the basic points

  • this video is awesome!

  • are these the gramophone records used here ??

  • Props to spinbad but whoever uploaded this video just named it badly, spinbad's EXPLAINING scratching -

  • wonder how many point he will get at dj hero ?

  • damn this is like "how to dj 201"

  • Dope DJ!!

  • Big up to DJ Spinbad... dude is ill. Supa fast though.

  • U guys Suck be thankful Spinbad came from behind the scenes to show yall how he does his shit smh! Good Shit Spinbad one of my best djs to date!

  • hahaha this editor didnt know what the chirp was so he put the wrong scratch in!!

  • three finger technique.... its like dj's tremolo !!

  • That was super dope and a Terrible tutorial. Were all of those really chirps? It seem more like a chirp transform combo. As for the flares... I mean Wow but there is little if any chance of a beginner catching that, I know how to do them all and I had to run it back. Overall Spinbad my be the most skilled radio DJ/Tablist hands down and part of my top 10 overall....but a teacher....not in this video

  • thanks, it will hell me to get out of a bad mix...im not a scratcher normally. PEACE

  • is it the volume control you are pushing?

  • SKRATCHIN!!!

  • These days a lot techno djs just sync up music together and play a couple of samples, so I appreciate whenever I hear someone actually scratching, like Dj AM. Too bad he passed away though.

  • the 909 is the shit....

  • the 909 the shit....

  • DOPE

  • He is nice but that was a show of video. Slow it down next time.

  • RUSSEL PETER'S DJ....*Russell Peter voice*: "Give it up for DJ SPIN BAAAAD!" aha!

    -n30n-

  • I'm 12 years old am I'm a dj, and this wus telly helpful, but where to you get the " fresh" sample records?

  • he helped me so much u rock

  • Yo this isn't the same Spinbad that pioneered the transform scratch in Philadelphia is it?

  • @zapwatt No it's not.

  • Thanks for posting this video, DJ Spinbad! \o/

  • I like the crab scratch but I cant do that yet.

  • hahaha @ the comments..go practice

  • u dont need "how to scratch" videos. If u got ears u know what to do

  • 1:26 There's a dead guy in the back O_o

  • didnt really even help, just showed off

  • To bad rev always bust his ass.

  • I like Spinbad but I gotta say - he is the worst teacher ever. Is this a joke?

  • ....doesnt this mess the record up???

  • @lilbig8543 it can after long periods of use, or misuse of the records it can. But normally no...

  • am i a good dj?

  • your t-shirts a little too big. I would reccomend a smaller one.

  • @vJamesss96 this made me really lol ;)

  • what a shit tutorial

  • I don't get why most don't understand...

There R 2 elements working here... the vinyl & the crossfader... U have 2 be able 2 do 2 things @ once... the vinyl has 2 stay on point w/ whatever sound U R using... (fast or slow) the crossfader is just the cut-off 4 the sound & can be adjusted 2 what ever skill level U R @ & your particular style... as 2 w/ records he uses, probably battle weapon or sounds & samples vinyl... (rare now depending on your style)

btw - I'm a power mixer not a scratch dj

  • TURNTABLE SLOB!!!!!

    get out side

  • What song/DJ Sample is he using and where can i get it?

  • how should anybody learn anything here, when its shown that fast.... spinbad is a good dj but thats one sucky video

  • @Johanneskannes I think he just want to show some skills....

  • @Johanneskannes agree...a slowmo wouldn't hurt...

  • @Johanneskannes True say

  • @Johanneskannes check the scratchpedia lol just as fast

  • @Johanneskannes are these the gramophone records used here ??

  • @5AMM0608 yep vinyls same like the god old gromphone vinyls

  • I got a turntable like 3 days ago and i was wonderin does scratching mess up the stylus?

  • good video but the scratches were shown to fast and you didnt even say that the chirp scratch has to start with the fader on

  • Nice Video.. The crab style is hard for me

  • how about slowing it down a little, your fingers were moving way to fast. The close-ups was great but I couldn't see the actual movement. You can scratch good that's for sure.

  • does scratching destroy your vinyls?

  • @jukka1996

in long term, thats why there are records made or old ones used to mathc scratch beats

  • @denizg6 yeah, but pressing some new vinyl's for a few song is very expensive after some time, isn't it?

  • @jukka1996

well here is what I would do,i would get 2 turntables and a 2 chanell mixer, then have on turntable play the records you want and cue,and the other turntable play a cheap dj tols or house beat record.

  • @denizg6 or you buy virtual DJ, a Turntable for PC/Laptop and scratch without vinyls ^^

  • @jukka1996 in a nutshell YES...lol!

  • what tables are those? and what mixer is that?

  • @SickCereal pioneer djm 909 and vestax pdx 2000's

  • Still awsome...

  • just a question I want to start doing DJ work for personal fun at home but what records do you use? does it matter what the song is I am complete newby to this full stop I just love the sound of scratching

  • @NillByMouth59 Superseal, get it , love it.

  • Yo, I LOVE spinbad...I have an 80's megamix by him that is THE BUSINESS!

  • @buckflowens yea i fuckin love tha mix!!!!... got the simpsons style intro

  • thid guy inspired me on z100!

  • @Ozzoid455. Ur a piece of fuckin shit!! So stop advertising ur fuckin nasty racist comments n stop talkin shit in front of ur PC. I can tell u have no life!! And by da way, hip hop is hip hop. It has NO color to it! It's all

    Word & Appreciation Cheers!

  • are you rolling a blunt? lol.

  • Nice, I want to add a turn table on my drum kit, but I could never time it right.

  • what mixer is he using?

  • @danw1374 hes using the djm 909

  • He uses the Pioneer DJM909

  • @danw1374 it's a pioneer DJM-909

it's the absolute best mixer out there for this kind of dj'ing

  • tight tutorial dude

  • who ever the guy is hes a dope scratcher and knows his shit..

the spin bad who works with revolution is brilliant so if its the same guy fair play, this guy can kik a cut so... fekk it

10/10 man keep up the cuts

  • so yhats why some dj use a efx-500-1000

in stead of doin it wif the cross fader

  • no, we still use the crossfader, the efx just lets you fuck with the sound and chop it up if you want. you still gotta crab

  • 80s megamix is sick you cunt!

  • Why is your scratches on your Mixtapes so clean , and when you do it live it sounds so shitty??

Why is there no Live Videos from you?

I think your fakin your scratches!

And you are not the ORIGINAL DJ SPINBAD!!

    You are a Biter!!

  • fake ass fraud!! he gets paid by PEPSI and the real cats dont get shit!

  • To see the REAL SPINBAD check this youtube vid out > youtube(DOT)com/watch?v=dsnYAOnrYps

  • Fuck this MF..This dude sucks ass.. He even stole his name from one of the greatest REAL DJ's of all time.. The originator of the transformer scratch.. THE ORIGINAL DJ SPINBAD..And this asshole doesnt even give the real SPINBAD credit in this vid, but instead gives cred to jazzy jeff ( who is another great DJ however ). This spinbad is nothing but a talentless vanilla ice cream cone that stole his name from a legend.

  • you aint never lied peep my video response

  • Why're you on this video then man? Just to be contrary?

  • sorry.

  • Ah dude don't say sorry I'm not pissed off at you or anything, I'm just saying beauty is in the eye of the beholder and its the same with music. So if you don't like scratching you're welcome to go check out some other music.

No beef dude! I'm just saying that much.

    Take care and happy holidays!

  • @Thronsohn then why the fuck are u watching this

  • i am very sorry. ive already apologiest earlier and i canceled my internetconnection.

  • @Thronsohn Wow Thronsohn, I've heard all kinds of shit about DJs, but this has to be the most offensive thing to ever say to a DJ, because you're directly insulting their profession. Why did you even watch this vid then?

  • Then why watch the video?

  • @Thronsohn hahahahah

  • did you see my video response...or see dj spinbad at Mayland St. block Party with the autobot shirt on...he invented the Transformer scratch....I know thw the man personally!

  • where you from anyway?

  • Comment removed

  • when you scratch, you should do it with the record your scratching with off?

  • Great Job Bro!!

  • crossfader !!

  • so basically everything is all about the speed of which u flick the crosshair?

  • nope.. there are many other things a dj needs to learn, such as beatmatching

  • oh no ha my bad broim talkin about the speed of scratching..is that based on how fast/far you move the crosshair or how quick u move the disc or combo of both?

  • its a combo of both, moving the record faster will give you a higher pitch sound so you can move it faster or slower depending on what you want. the speed you flick on the crossfader is also important because thats how much of the sound you are getting. if you flick it faster, you will get a shorter clip of a sound

  • this is a great tutorial. most other just scratch and say thats how t do it. look at me im awesome. thanks for goin into detail. cheers from ireland

  • he explains the chirp and then does a quick transform...????

kids don't believe everything u hear on yt

  • That sucked, he just said the names while he did them. no explanation at all

  • what up man, its mo from noir winnipeg , dope vid.

  • This is cool video thanks DJ Spinbad.

  • hes the dj im the rapper?? LOL MAN thats the same album that got me started in scratching!!!! I just slowed it down and analyized Jazzys scatching!!! MA MAN!!

  • what vinyl is he using

  • he is using his own record that he put out. its called "bad ass breaks" i believe

  • thanks man

i going 2 look for it

  • i wanna learn how to crab and transform scratch so badly i can only stab and cutt

  • thats dope

    and so is that mixer

  • Spinbad is a fantastic turntablist and one of the pioners of the Transformer scratch regardless people will always have something bad to say whether they know anything about the man or not.

You need to know where something has come from in order to understand where it is going, Thank your man Afrika Bambaataa for that one!

  • Take it back even further,

    Kraftwerk!

  • So, if you're right handed, should you have your right hand on the cross fader or the record?

  • i'm right handed and use my right hand on the turntable mostly but it's all to do with what feels most comfortable :)

  • I am not big on hip-hop, but I respect the skill and talents of a good turntablist.

  • so many fuckin haters out there , it makes me sick, who cares who this guy is or where or who he stole his moves from (if thats even the case) this guy can def scratch and anyone on here hatin is just mad cause they cant do it, much props spinbad, i dont give a shit about your politics , i care about your scratchin and the shit is dope, keep it up brother...

  • AMEN!

    i cant agree any more.

i wanna get into it, after watchin a few turntablists, i got inspired.

any suggestions on what i should get? mixer, turntable, what kinds?

  • well.. im starting too and after some research i found that a good deal is....

    2 numark tt200

any 2 channel mixer (nothing really special)

and a lot of the people i know use serato scratch

ur total will be around 1200 and then u need some speakers

  • A gemini mixer is good, a basic scratch one with 2 channels.

Then any deck is fine, numark or technics is good.

And you can't really go wrong with gemini

  • I wouldn't say any deck is fine.

  • True true, if your going to get a deck, put time into seeing which is best, for you.

  • "And you can't really go wrong with gemini "

You'll be laughed out of the DJ community if you say things like that. Gemini is notorius for making unreliable equipment. Its like an established fact.

  • I use gemini and it's great. I heard Vestax is reliable.

Gemini gear for me hasn't malfunctioned or done anything unsatisfactory yet.

  • For someone like me that has been scratching for over 20 years and have owned over 40 mixers. Gemini is garbage I would only buy a Rane any day.

And there is only one turntable...techs only!

  • I have been talking to DJs for 2 years and over estimated what I know sorry mate

What do you think of stanton? I just got a vinyl turntable from them

  • If you are going to do hiphop mixing and scratching then I would go with a Vestax since they are cheaper and are quality. If you had 3 times as much money buy the Rane they are super quality. The stanton mixers are ok but I feel like if you are going to do battle style djing like beat juggling and scratching stick with Rane/Vestax. Stanton started out as more of a club mixer, I am sure they have a battle size mixer out for sure 6 to 10" to compete with other brands.

  • What should I get besides Techs if I'm a beginner?

  • You are going to need two techs. The only techs I do not like is the 1210MK2 which has the Euro power cord. The torque on it sucks. Get the 1200MK2, 1200M3D, 1200MK5 if you got the money get the 1210MK5 or 1210MK5G. Try used off craigslist I was able to grab a close to brand new 1200M3D for $225. I picked up a Vestax PMC06 battle mixer for $125 used in perfect condition. You will need needles for it as well, for scratching the Sure-M447 are good, buy them new not used, around $60 per cart/stylus

  • the only difference between 1200 MK2s and 1210 MK2s is the colour dude.

  • No you are wrong sir. The 1210MK2 was meant for European use. It has a 2 prong AC plug on it and the torque is different than a 1200Mk2, if you scratch it is completely noticable. And yes it is also black.

  • Well i cant argue when you call me sir. Where do you get your info? sot sure I will believe you till i see some technical evidence. I do scratch, but then again I do have 'european technics 1210's.'

  • I started scratching in 1989 I had a pair of 1200MK2 to start with but my dad had a 1210MK2. He let me borrow it and connect 3 decks together so I could record some megamix styled work and I could notice that the pull on the platter was twice as much as my 1200s it would screw me up when I did beat juggling on the 1200/1210. If you own two 1210MK2 I dont think you would ever notice. Its slight but enough for me not to mess with them. MK5 has adjustable torque for this very reason. nm .03 to .06

  • dont hold me to the nm .03 to .06 im not sure I have the numbers right and I am not sure what nm is, nano meters>?

I do notice the pull though wether or not they state it in the manuals or tech info.

  • i'd suggest the 1200's even if out of your budget, you can get used pair for around 5 or 6 hundred. In the long run, the 1200's will make a difference and they last for a long as time. There is a reason why so many dj's only use 1200's.

  • Chris Sullivan-WOW

  • Id like to test the IQ's of the people who want to hear sounds such as this guy is making. My question is WHY ? WHY throw a monkey wrench into a good song? Songs are intended to have a beat and a melody. Scratching is doing nothing but ruining a good song the way its supposed to be... but then another question is what type of music is he scratching to ? In that case running over a record will probably improve the sound of it.

  • dumb ass

  • people with lower IQ's find it dif
