An Artist for all season.

Alas,that many Iranians are sadly prone to be the enemy to Art and the Artists. Millions of years for the universe to crate such a profound beauty in one man and ignorant many destroy them in a short time.

This God send Artist lived in the heart of kindless, illiterate many, who heavily are at work to abolish the artistic society.

How many of these God-soul should die in this fashion until the Iranian society take Art and the Artist as important as religion.

It is not the Iranian society that does not take its artists seriously. For many years, music was banned in Iran by this same Islamic government and it was the will and love of the people for its arts and music that has brought it back, It has been an awful fight to bring it back ... people have given their lives and livelihoods and are still doing it. That is what a dictatorship is. When the dictatorship falls, you will a serious revival of music.

Parviz Meshkatian (born May 15 - 1955 in Nishapur) is a Persian musician, composer, researcher and University lecturer. He is considered by critics to be one of the most influential artists of his generation.

Meshkatian entered the Tehran Academy of Arts, where he studied music theory and was introduced to radif (the Persian classical music repertoire) by the masters Nour Ali Boroumand

Ostad Meshkatian is the ultimate master of Santour, He has more than a dozen books out 4 Santour Since Ostad Payvar is not playing anymore they rightfully give the title of best Santour player to Ostad Meshkatian. Ardavan is absolutely amazing, no question about that. He has been able to come up with his own unique style. But I don't think anybody can argue that when it comes to technique, experience, and ability to write and compose songs, anybody can come close to Ostad Meshkatian and Payvar.

Never in the history of Iranian Classical Music ever came a "True" Master like Ostad Meshkatian, truly one of the best santur players of all time and probably the best composer who ever lived. Contributions made by this Ostad is beyond words. Only those who play the santur and are familiar with his work know the value of the great Parviz Meshkatian. Meshkatian is my idol
