Hi Sinister Jimmy! thanks for your interest in this, it means a lot. Presently I am too busy with other projects to compile a tuition book.

What I may do is make some full length in depth lessons...can't promise anything soon though. Sorry :-( I'll be sure to notify as and when more material is available.

If you listen to the second part, just after the slap title comes up, you'll see that I'm playing a montuno & tumbau, on the four strings E-G, which are the same as the strings on a regular 4 string bass. There just isn't so much color, that's all.

In my opinion; no a six string is not at all necessary for Latin grooves. I just find it is useful to get the range for chordal & melodic playing with bass lines in the left hand.

You can play a montuno & tumbau simultaneously on a four string, but you'd find that you wouldn't have as much range to color the montuno's chords with higher notes so much.
