Pahud is an interesting musician. i respect his musicality.

However, he lacks dynamics. You see many color change in his playing...hardly you see him playing (p).

This is the problem of 99% of flute players... they crash in bach or mozart. If he had the sound, he would have been the very most interesting flute player ever.....

@infinity4you ... there wasn't that much dynamic shading in Bach's time. Plus, the colors on the traverso... are the point of the instrument. Much more than the regular flute. The traverso also really doesn't have too many dynamics. So maybe Pahud was coming from this way of thought. He styling is pretty accurate, much more than other flutist... so this is why I suspect this.

@flutist1989 This point about tone colour can , I feel only be grasped by playing on the older style instrument. A modern flute does have tone colour , but all the teaching seems to be towards a homogenious sound. That's one of the reasons the Boehm flute is making slow progress in Irish Traditional playing.
